Management at 85C is the worst at all bakeries I have ever seen. You never know which type of bread is coming out at what time during the day. My son loves their mocha bread, but I could only get it by luck. I tried to visit at different times and only succeeded to get it one or two times out of ten. If there is a timely schedule for different bread, it should have been posted to inform customers inside the store. One time when I was at the store, I was offered to try their tuna turnover. It was so yummy that I wanted to buy it for my family. Unfortunately it was no where to be found, so I asked the salesperson. He checked with kitchen and turned out saying they wont bake fresh tuna turnover any more for the day. This answer was quite weird to me. If they are not trying to boost sales, why let customers try their bread for free? After that time, I tried a couples of days at different times but failed to buy the tuna bread again. Also, it is very confusing when you try to figure out the type of bread in front of you. There is usually one name tag for each type of bread and describing its ingredients. However, the store front salespersons are putting several trays of the same bread (without tags) on various shelves. As a result, customers have to walk back and forth through the aisle to find out what bread it is on a certain shelf. If management improves, I believe business could be better.

This review is based solely on the bakerys pastries and treats! Sadly I have yet to try their drinks Ive been hearing about. 85 can be one of those Hey lets grab a quick bite to eat! and Dessert tonight? type of place. Interior decor is stunning, a minimalistic white, modern and sleek look from its floors to its service desk. Always super clean when Ive visited which is awesome! I dont get a chance to casually visit 85 as Id like to, but always when visiting 85 I purchase in such big bulks ($75-150). The pastries Ive gotten have always had the right amount of sweet and savory. I havent tried much of the meat mix pastry items like the bacon/cheese or the ham/cheese/tuna, but hearing from friends its mouth-watering! Pastries are always lined up and filled, if not, you can kindly ask one of the bakers to refill and they do it almost immediately. Parking is definitely a hassle in this area since it is located around a few large shopping and grocery centers. So I beg you not to come during peak hours or youll find yourself parking near the Goodwill four buildings down! Overall, such a delectable place for your everyday fix. Would love to visit more often if I could; Ive been meaning to try that Rose Milk Tea!

Finally, an Asian bakery that makes a proper matcha swiss roll! Id been looking all over for one. Other Asian bakeries either dont make one, or have jasmine flavor in it. Jasmine flavor is not my thing; I much prefer the style of matcha rolls found in Japan, which do not have the floral jasmine flavor. Even if this is a Taiwanese bakery chain, their matcha swiss roll is the closest one I have found to a Japanese matcha swiss roll here in the bay area. It has a light matcha flavor, a small amount of cream rolled into it, and a few red beans sprinkled throughout. It is also not dry. Just delicious. I also tried the milk pudding bun which had a generous serving of vanilla custard inside. The bread had the loveliest texture; it was so pillowy and satisfying. Its as fresh as you can get. The bread must get sold fast, because while I was milling around trying to decide what bun to get, I saw two fresh batches of bread come out of the kitchen. This place is also really clean and spacious, with ample seating. The people working here are super cheerful. I am definitely going to be back! Update 4 Feb 2016: SQUID INK BUN. Omg. Must try. Garlicky goodness!

We love this place! I have been here numerous times. Anytime someone visits me from out of state we take them here. My parents made us take them here twice during the same weekend! Dont be afraid to go overboard when picking out your bread; Ive eaten pastries from here three days after buying them and they are still fluffy and soft! The blueberry filled bread is one of my favorites and the classic brioche is delicious. Dont worry if they dont have your favorite bread the day you visit because all the others will be fantastic as well! There are sweet and savory options. They also have beautiful and delicious cake slices for sale. I am a big fan of the strawberry cake. They also make milk tea and coffee here. Im not a fan of that stuff so Ive never tried it. My husband has and says it is good. I feel the prices are very reasonable! I was actually surprised at how affordable it was the first time I came here.

I had the opportunity to visit the newly opened 85C in Cupertino, CA for lunch. They don’t really offer sandwiches and stuff. Just savory and sweet pastries in very many kinds and flavors. I sampled 4 of them today for lunch along with a honeydew smoothie. The Walnut tart was chock full of well, walnut pieces. I had to eat them over multiple sittings and share it with my wife at home. The coffee raisin roll was also very tasty as was the French cheese roll. I also tried a maple syrup toast that was interesting and chewy good. Overall, 85C is more affordable that Paris Baguette or Kee Wah Bakery and more spacious too. The pastries were very tasty. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy and then hopefully give the place a try. One note though- this is not for the health conscious. Every item here is either rich in sugar or butter or both. And there is enough to tempt every one of you. So be warned.

The bread here is good, but not my favorite. They can be a bit sweet at times and they have only a limited selection of breads available at times. The building isnt made with the greatest sound insulation so it gets pretty loud and isnt a place Id recommend for a "coffee date" or something of that sort. If youre looking for real good Asian bread with the classics and the specialties, I HIGHLY recommend Marinas Sogo Bakery (not trying to advertise but really, that place is way better and a bit cheaper too). The cakes at 85 are alright but a bit heavy on the cream (again, Asian cakes are much better done at Sogo in my opinion). I will admit that the 85 here has a really good cream cheese raspberry bread but they dont have it often!

This Taiwanese bakery has some delicious fresh bread and drinks! This location is fairly new compared to Irvines so its nice and clean inside. The style is the same: you grab a tray, paper and tongs and grab whatever pastries you desire. Especially good here are the portugese styled scorched egg tarts and taro bread. I dont recommend the savory foods, but they have a good variety of pastries to satisfy most cravings. There isnt too much of a line and cashiers are efficient and wrapping. They are also famous for sea salt coffee/green tea! I had a sea salt jasmine milk tea and it was delicious. The boba here is solid. For good pastries and drinks, I recommend stopping by 85!
