Glad I came, and on a slightly off-day, though I think normally I wouldnt have found this place worth the wait. Came here on MLK Day around 1:30pm, hoping that on a holiday the wait wouldnt be stupid. It was... maybe not full on stupid, but not fantastic. My friend and I wrote down our names then tried to grab a drink. Apparently they dont serve drinks if you dont have an open tab, and you cant open a tab until you sit down. Awesome. We asked about getting a call when our table was ready so we could grab a drink elsewhere, but that also wasnt an option. Fantastic. We took our chances and headed elsewhere for a quick drink before returning about 35 minutes later. When we got back the line seemed to have completely dissipated and we got nervous we had missed our spot entirely. We were fine though, when we walked back in the woman recognized us and sat us immediately. Mimosa - 3 stars. Meh, nothing to write home about. Mostly juice, not much champagne, but there was fresh pulp which I did enjoy. Wild breakfast pizza - 4 stars. For a pizza described largely as a mushroom pizza, it was severely lacking in mushrooms, which are kinda my favorite. That said, the crust was more flavorful than I expected and the pizza was super cheesy, creating those awesome long strings of cheese as I lifted the slice. This was also HUGE and lasted me another two meals. Millionaires bacon - 5 stars. I mean, this is what the whole place is about, right? It was awesome. Thick, fatty, sweet, and a bit spicy. Decadence on decadence. There were only two slices in the side order, and though I would have eaten more if it was there, I think Im glad that was it! My friend ordered the chicken ranchero. She seemed happy with it, she said the salsa was particularly remarkable. Hers was also a huge portion and she took half home. Overall, the food was good and clearly a great value given the leftovers. That said, its not two hours or even one hour worth of waiting good. Try to come at off hours if you want to enjoy this place.

4.5 star out of 5 because there is always room for improvement! Me and my friend shared Big Hip(famous deep fried dough) and bulgogi egg scramble. Both dish are both ten out of ten. We cant get enough out of it :p We paid around 18 dollar each(including tips). tl;dr. We showed up S.W. around 12:50pm on a Saturday and they said there is at least a 45 minutes wait. And I gotta say that wasnt joking, but the food is totally worth waiting for. We got seated around 1:50pm and the line seems to be much shorter than it was. So for people who is considering coming during the weekend, the best time for brunch at S.W. is probably after 1:30pm on Saturday. Also, S.W. is one block away from Fillmore street, where a lot of wonderful shops are located, you could go shop for 45 minutes and come back for lunch. As first timers, we chose the most famous plate, after all, the Big Hip. The Big Hip is a big/thick slice of deep fried french toast. It is very crispy on the edge. However, you could still taste the softness of French toast, covered by golden brown fried layer. They sprinkle a layer of sugar powder on top of the toast, along with some blue berries. The reason that I love about this dish is that it is a combination of crispness and softness, complimenting with adjustable amount of syrup. To balance the sweet Big Hip, we ordered the bulgogi Egg scramble. The scramble is definitely on the pricey side(18 dollar)! But I cant complain because its taste and the carefully selected potatoes.(I am talking about fried potatoes/sweet potatoes/purple potatoes! I really enjoy the colorfully combo and their tastes as well) The bulgogi is among the best bulgogi that I have ever ate. The sweet and savory taste of bulgogi combining with eggs is definitely a progressive take on Asian fusion. The pepper paste is also playing an important role. Unlike the store bought pepper paste, the pepper paste at S.W. is more smooth and more sweet. Overall, we enjoyed the visit very much and planned on going there again soon!

As much as I love brunch, I always have this anxiousness whenever I get ready to go to a new place. A lot of places get a lot of Hype in SF because they are trendy or because they have bottomless everything or because its a continuation of the party the night before...and so on. And yeah, Bottomless Parties in the morning are awesome, but often time the food falls short. So Sweet Maple isnt bottomless on weekends but the menu is extensive, with sections divided by food type (egg plates, scrambles, benedicts, etc.), and each section has a variety of your typical breakfast items, to an asian flare, to local dishes (Dungeness crab). We had the Dungeness Benedict, The Hip (deep Fried French Toasts), and the Millionaire Bacon. The Dungeness was excellent. Whole lumps of sweet juicy crab on top of a crispy english muffin with capers and spinach. We asked for the spicy chipotle hollindaise and it was on point. The Hip tasted like wedges of Funnel Cake, a good balance of sweetness and butteriness. MMMMM. The star of the show was Millionaire bacon tho. Thick cuts of bacon glazed with an sweet and spicy sauce. It was crispy, savory, spciy, and sweet all at the same time! It was like Michael Jackson moonwalking all over your tastesbuds! For all this deliciousness, there is a price to pay...in Sweet Maples case it is the long wait. No reservations, you got sign up on a list as you come in. We waited about an hour for 2. They do give you free coffee while you wait. The waiting section also has a bar your can sit at and read magazines and newspapers....not too bad.

Dropping by with a friend the other week, noticing the make up of the staff, and seeing what they had on the menu, I immediately realized that we had probably walked in on Kitchen Storys sister restaurant (which was later confirmed by our waitress). So, with that said, my positive thoughts on Kitchen Story apply to Sweet Maple as well, as their offerings are pretty similar. In fact, I think the menus are almost mirrored, with slight variations in flavor/presentation on similar dishes: for example, while both places offer French toast, the Grand Marnier French toast I ordered at Sweet Maple was a more typical presentation of the dish, rather than the deep fried (delicious) monstrosity that youd find at their sister restaurant, but yet, equally delicious, especially when paired with the Millionaires bacon. Now, however, unless youre really keen on the variations that Sweet Maple has to offer, youre better off hitting up Kitchen Story if youre not too fond of waiting. Based on my many visits to Kitchen Story, and my single visit to Sweet Maple, the waits at the latter are significantly longer. But, arguably, theres more wandering that can be done in this part of town than in Castro, so... ***Accessibility Info*** Venue - Neither super spacious nor super cramped, but just enough space that accessibility shouldnt be a huge problem. If they decide to seat you in the back, like they did us, theyll open up the rear entrance to make things a bit easier on you. Bathroom - Didnt check them out.

If youre going to Sweet Maple for brunch, be prepared to EAT. Our party of four went to Sweet Maple this weekend, and lets just say I now understand the line out the door. We ordered the Big Hip (deep-fried French toast), Florentine eggs benedict, 2 eggs w/ chicken maple sausage, sweet potato tater puffs, and the Millionaires Melt, plus a few mimosas. Millionaires Bacon is Sweet Maples claim to fame, so you have to try it just for the experience. But its pretty intense, so splitting an order with friends is the perfect solution. The deep-fried French toast tastes like a delicious funnel cake. For extra oomph, eat it with a dollop of raspberry jam on top. My boyfriend said his eggs benedict wasnt quite as good as the one from Mission Beach Cafe, but the chicken maple sausage was amazing, and the sweet potato puffs were a nice little addition to the menu for sweet potato fanatics like myself. The mimosas were also pretty strong, so thats a plus. The only downside if youre with a large group is that they only allow splits between two credit cards, so youll have to work it out amongst yourselves. However, the service was great and we were seated much faster than I would have expected, judging by the crowd lined up outside the door. If you go while the weather is nice, waiting outside isnt bad. Overall, Sweet Maple is a great brunch spot, and a fun place to take visitors and house guests for Instagram-worthy food and great service.
