If you think this is great Mexican food youve never eaten it before. Not only were the portions very small, the quality was dubious. I had a chile verde pork burrito (which was more the size of a taco from Del Taco) that was dry (the meat), floating in a bottled sauce, wrapped in a stale 6 in flour tortilla which also had ranchero sauce on it as a garnish. My wife ordered the chicken enchilada plate. It was drowned in ranchero sauce, and had no chicken in it. The sides of beans and rice were small and flavorless, so thank goodness there was insufficient portions. They couldnt possibly be worried about repeat business from locals. When lunch arrived all I could say to my wife was that the rent must be terribly expensive. Neither of us enjoyed our meal, or the service. The iced tea was obviously from a bag in a box dispenser, it had a musty flavor. It was so bad that we came no where close to drinking even half a glass. When asked how everything was I looked at the waiter, shrugged my shoulders and said its just OK. He smiled and walked away. Not only was the food lousy, but it was also expensive. We spent $33 on two lunch plates and two beverages, not exactly what I would call a good value, and why this review is titled the way it is. I spent twenty years of my life in restaurants, this is not one that I will darken the door of again, what a wreck and rip off.

We came to this Mexican restaurant the first night we were in Old Sacramento. The thing we liked best about this particular restaurant was the whole staff was very friendly and accommodating. The service wasnt as fast as we would have liked, considering the number of people in the restaurant. There were a couple of times that we had to request more chips and salsa and water. The food was really good. I had ordered the burrito, and the meat inside of the burrito was excellent! It had just enough of a kick to accentuate the flavor of the burrito, without overwhelming it. My wife ordered the combination fajitas with chicken, steak, and shrimp. She was disappointed in that the portions werent bigger for the price that we paid, but it was prepared well and tasted good. We didnt get a chance to try any of their margaritas, but they looked very good. If youre an Old Sacramento and want quality Mexican food, you will enjoy this restaurant.

HORRIBLE... I was in a party of 7 and after 6 people the automatically add an 18% gratuity tip to the bill. Granted we went on a busy day but we waited about 45 minutes for our food, after we ordered, only to be told that the order hadnt been placed. They brought us a free side of guacamole, only to then ADD it to our bill! Our waiter was cocky and didnt notice we hadnt received our food. The music was so loud you couldnt talk to anyone at your table at a normal level. When we finally received our meal it was a joke, the quesadilla is smaller then a soft taco at Taco Bell. The ONLY good thing about this restaurant is its location and the open air-ness of it. If I could give this place NEGATIVE stars I would. SAVE YOUR MONEY.

If I could give this place less than 1 star I would! The only thing good about this place is the balcony view. My wife and I came here for dinner after a long day of running errands because it always looks busy and upbeat. We were greeted and seated by the hostess, chips were served and then that was it! No service while we sat there for 15 minutes munching on their mediocre chips with NO WATER or any other beverage. I expect at the least water within the first 5 minutes, this is very unacceptable. Needless to say we left after 15 min of no service and headed to Ten22 who ALWAYS delivers. Ill be sharing this experience to all my friends and fam and advising them to keep away!

Came in for lunch on a busy holiday weekend and enjoyed our experience! Staff was super nice and helpful, having plenty of people on hand to take care of us. Food came out fast and hot. Its not authentic, if thats what youre looking for, but its exactly what youd expect as far as menu items at a Mexican restaurant in a tourist part of the city. We had veggie fajitas, veggie taco salad, cheese enchilada, and pork tamale and didnt have any complaints about any of it. (The vegetarians in the group had more choices here than at other places in Old Sac.) Getting to sit outside and overlook the street was also a definite bonus!

On a very busy New Years Eve in Old Sacramento we happened upon La Terraza. They were busy but throughout our dinner the staff was friendly and they worked together to ensure tables were taken care of. It could have easily been a stressful evening for them. They continued to smile, they were quick, and efficient. We never felt rushed even with the waiting customers, and the food was good. I personally had the Nachos Mini, and it can be shared by two people. The only thing is I wish the Chiefs werent so tough to dip my chips in. I would definitely visit here again!

Saw the reviews about the bad food- but good service and thought to give it a try. Walked in with a group of 10 and seated at a good time. They took forever to take our order though. They said something about changing cooks so the food is better. Yeah right. We gor our food and I ordered the tavo trio and the steak was gross- chicken had a weird flavor and nothing was worth ordering again. Not to mention we had to ask for refills on chips and water. 3 of us asked for napkins but we where ignored until my uncle had to get them himself. Dont go there

Great Mexican food and great live band. Came on a Friday evening around 7 and it was not busy and easy to get a table. We sat outside to enjoy the view of Old Town but it was pretty darn chilly with the cool weather and the wind (mid-May). After taking our order, they were quick to bring out chips and salsa and no hesitation to refill if we wanted more. We had the fish tacos (pescado) and the enchilada verde The portions a typical Mexican restaurant style, very generous. Great food, good band, and reasonable price. Not bad at all.

All the dishes we ordered are very salty and extremely over priced. The shrimp burrito had only two small shrimps in it and was filled with rice and bell peppers, not worth the $15.99 price. Service was poor, waited 20 minutes before our order was taken. It took another 20 minutes to get our food. We were unable to find our waitress to let her know about the saltiness and how under whelming the food were over all. None of us three will return or recommend this restaurant to anyone. How they stay in business is beyond me.

Food is edible. As a Mexican restaurant I put it just above Taco Bell , not much above though . Carlos delivered terrible service , he never came back to see how we were doing or what we needed. Even as we asked for our check and boxes it took about 15 minutes and they arent even busy . Carlos made me feel like Im not welcome here now and not welcome back here. I ended up tipping what appeared to be the "bus boy" (Chris ) instead of the server. Chris and Atmosphere are the only things that saves this place
