On April 24th 2016 at 11AM my wife, service dog and myself went to Venita Rhea’s restaurant for our weekly brunch. We love this place (awesome food, great service and service dog friendly). On this day the place was packed and we decided to try Pottery World Café next door from Venita Rhea’s restaurant. I didn’t feel right about this decision but my wife was insistent. It was hard to find the café entrance door; you have to go inside the building to find the only entrance. I’m always a little fearful going to a new place that I don’t know how they will react towards service animals. We always try to find a back table to minimize any stress that may cause other patrons concerning my service animal. We located a back table and I asked my service dog to lay down next to our table. My service dog is an Akita, large and weighs 125 pounds. My service dog laid down as requested, between our table and the next table over. The patrons at the next table over smiled and asked about our service animal. After we placed our order the manager (Barbara O’Connor) came over very angry and insisted we move our service dog under the table. My service dog is 60 inches from nose to tip of tail. The table we sat at is maybe 48” x 48”, with a huge infrastructure holding the table upright. How is it possible to ask a 60” dog to lay under 48” table with a large support system holding the table up? The manager, who we had never met before, seemed angry and started quoting California law to us in a mean and intimidating way, trying to enforce her will. The party sitting next to us seemed flabbergasted towards the manager’s tirade towards us. Please remember, our service dog was laying quieting between the two tables, bothering no one. I reviewed the Federal ADA (Americans Disability Act) for Service Dogs and there is no rule stating that Service Dogs must lay under the table. Here are 3 direct quotations taken directly from the ADA regulations. A person with a disability cannot be asked to remove his service animal from the premises unless: (1) the dog is out of control and the handler does not take effective action to control it or (2) the dog is not housebroken. Establishments that sell or prepare food must allow service animals in public areas even if state or local health codes prohibit animals on the premises. People with disabilities who use service animals cannot be isolated from other patrons, treated less favorably than other patrons, or charged fees that are not charged to other patrons without animals. We strongly suggest you avoid this restaurant. It obvious to us the Pottery World Café has a policy that is discriminatory against service dogs and their handlers. The restaurant manager (Barbara O’Connor) is very obviously enforcing the Pottery World Cafe corporate discriminatory policy towards service dogs and their handlers. We were very hungry and just wanted to eat quietly and leave. We suggest you eat next door at Venita Rhea’s restaurant who are nice, produce great food and very friendly towards service animals. I suggest trying the Ventia’s Joes plate with eggs, ground beef, spinach and toped with Swiss cheese. This is my favorite breakfast meal ever. I will update my review if Pottery World Café management contacts me and assures me that their Service Dog Discriminatory Policy will be abolished and a new friendly Service Dog policy will be created and enforced by management.

I was very disappointed with the new resturant. It lost the charm and closness the old one had. The sevice was terrible. The food was just okay. I have been a steady customer of pottery both the store and the resturant. I would not recommend going there for lunch. The entrance is not easy or direct to the cafe. You have to go all around in the store to get there. I feel it was for reason of seeing what is for sale in the store. I miss the smell of ther bbq outside. I quess iI just miss the old cafe.

This is an interesting place. There are dozens of fountains of all sizes, many very unique. Yes, much pottery. MAN WARNING: their gift shop is large and has many tempting items for women, including clothes! Theres a sandwich type restaurant included in the mix with good food. This place is unique!

What a relaxing place to sit and have a glass of wine, the food is exceptional! Im obsessed with the spinach salad, it has candied walnuts, cranberries and gorgonzola cheese with a balsamic poppyseed dressing. Shopping around the store after lunch is a must!!!

I have enjoyed shopping at Pottery World over the past few years. Lots of great choices for outdoor home decor. Havent spent as much time in the home interior decor departments. Generally speaking, Pottery World is more about quality than price.

Great selection of upscale products. Fun to visit. They also have a very nice cafe with good food and you get to sit in the furniture they sell. Even though I didnt buy anything other than the meal, I felt very opulent in that moment. $$ prices.

Fantastic stonework at commensurate (high-end) prices. The BEST (little known) cafe in the area. Cafe has fair prices, wonderful dishes and extremely friendly staff!
