Clean restaurant, parking lot is awkward (in the back), and customer service is not consistent. I have asked for extra garlic sauce, sometimes they charge extra and sometimes they dont. ~Food~ I ordered the #4 Quarter White Chicken. It came with hummus, chili peppers, pickled turnips, sliced tomatoes and pita bread. I like it when they warm up the pita (sometimes they serve it room temperature), its soft and it taste better. The skin of the chicken was partially not there, a bit dry and the portion was small (there were many times I ordered this and the size of chicken was decent and all the skin was there). The best part of my meal is dipping the chicken in the garlic sauce, its so delicious! The chili peppers also taste good with the chicken, I love spicy food. Take a bite of the chicken then the chili peppers. I also got a small order of Mutabbal. My friend got it too, one would have been enough for us. Basically its grilled eggplants, tahini and garlic blended together. It is topped with olive oil and drizzled with paprika. There was a strong flavor that I didnt like, I wouldnt order it again. Other then the chicken, from time to time, I like to get the following items: Shish Kebab, it is marinated steak, served with Basmati Rice, barbecued tomato, hummus, pickled turnips, seasoned onions and pita bread. If you are in a hurry, expect to wait 15 min to 20 minutes, it takes a while to cook. Next is the Shawerma, which is slices steak, hummus, tomatoes, chili peppers, onions and sesame sauce. The last one is the Tabbouleh Salad, it is minced tomatoes, bulgur, tomatoes, and green onions; mixed together with oil and lemon, it has a tangy flavor. ~Highlight~ You must try the garlic sauce!

It was a clear sunny Friday afternoon, I felt the pizza I had eaten for lunch seeking revenge on my bowels, naturally I rushed to a nearby building which to my surprise was open. When finishing using the restroom I realized I was in Zankou, which was odd because I came in through the main entrance. At first glance this hole in the wall has the refreshing feeling of a car wash combined with the unmistakable stench of a 1970s porto-potty. I had ordered a half chicken, which probably tasted just how it looked, GOOD yet something not quite right, now if you have to ask yourself am I about to eat a chicken or a rooster It is always better to pass. Better safe than sorry, that is my feeling anyway. This was such a horrible experience I just walked out wondering why they hadnt put a yogurt hut in its place. On a positive note the restroom was quite sanitary.

I was finally in town tonight to stop by Zankou Chicken to pick up a 1/4 chicken meal. Its been a while and on the way home I made a detour and made sure I stopped in and reacquainted myself with this awesome food. I got lucky enough where it was somewhat late that I could park on Colorado and then walk right on in. I did get my food to go this visit. The wait was about 5 minutes or so to get my food. One of my favorite sauces is the garlic sauce that they have. It makes everything taste so awesome. There was a poster on the wall that said that theyre open until 11PM now so that either be a seasonal thing or a new change that they made. As I was eating my food, my parents were in a totally different room and was very intrigued by what smelled so good.

Im not from Cali, but I recently moved to the San Francisco area. On my move, I started listening to a podcast called "My Favorite Murder" that is recorded in the LA area. Episode 32, "Its just the 32 of us" talks about some of the history of the family that started this chain. While the hosts were telling the story, they talked about how amazing the chicken was. I had to come to LA for work, so my first stop in town was here (: The chicken is delish. All the sauces and hummus is really good too. The serving sizes are very large, which is good, since it was $30 for two meals. The pickled veggies and rice were great sides as well. I wasnt impressed with the steak or the ground beef though. Overall it was a good meal.

My wife had been asking to come to this place for the longest time and for some reason we never did. On April 25, 2017 at around 11AM we had lunch here for the first time. I had the half rotisserie chicken dish and my wife had the beef kabob dish. Boy was the food delicious, I loved everything. My wife also loved her dish and thought that it was delicious. When we walked out I told my wife that I was upset at myself for not coming to this place sooner because I have been missing out on this delicious food. Zankou you now have two more customers that are going to be regulars.

My family loves Zankou chicken! We always order the family dinner, which comes with a whole roast chicken, picked turnips, Mediterranean cabbage slaw with a vinaigrette, hummus, pita, and garlic sauce. They say it feeds 4 but usually for us its 3 (dinner for two with one helping of leftovers). The chicken is so much better than other rotisserie chickens elsewhere. The sides are really nice and we use their hummus as the measuring rod of all other hummus. The garlic sauce is amazing!! We go regularly and this is a must-visit local restaurant for tourists.

A VERY popular no frills, no thrills restaurant near Pasadena City College. It is one of the most authentic Mediterranean Restaurants youll find in the northern hemisphere. It is seriously THAT good. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are friendly. The only catch? Youll smell like garlic for a week. My favorites are beef shwerma and chicken shwerma. Sometimes I buy a whole roasted chicken and serve it with side dishes I prepare at home. They have a few registers, but one is CASH ONLY, which is the fastest.

Zankou is a very nice restaurant for a fast food chicken joint. Not fancy by any means but the food is excellent. I ordered the half chicken meal for $10.99 and it was enough to fill me up easily. The chicken was cooked thoroughly but not overdone, and very tasty. It came with hummus, tomatoes, pickled yam, and 2 pitas. The atmosphere is warm and the employees were friendly and helpful. Also a big plus is that the seating area was very clean compared to most fast food places. I would definitely come here again.

For past several years, I would get lunch or dinner there, at least, several times a month. The tarna and roasted chicken are delicious, and I love their falafel, hummus and garlic spreads, but the prices have risen, which I understand, but for what one pays now, for their plates, with Zankous choices (not the customers) of side dishes - hummus, a tiny bit of salad, mostly lettuce and a few chopped tomatoes and some kind of pickled veggie - I wont be returning.

Zankou in Pasadena is one of my favorite places to get some kabobs. It is prepared fresh, which means it takes a little bit more time but it is well worth the wait. The kabobs are good, the rice is good and the hummus is good. As a middle eastern I can tell you that finding good kabobs can be a challenge. If youre into this type of food or you like to explore it stop by and try it - youll be hooked, i know i am.
