So I purchased a coffee bag from them thinking it was ground and ready only to find out it was whole beans, dont get me wrong thats not what I am complaining about, I went back a couple of days later asking them if they can grind the beans or simply exchange my $12 coffee pound to 2 cappuccinos, the guy said no problem and started making the drinks. Then he said Im going to have you hold on to the coffee bag (which by the way is still sealed and was never open). Then he said you can take it and grind it at cost plus or whole foods or something. I said ok cool thanks under the impression that he decided to just give it to us for inconvenience. I then asked him for a strawberry blueberry buckle treat and he said "I just cant say No to you, I dont know why" which sounded sarcastic. come to pay, he charged me for the two cappuccinos and the treat and I didnt even notice I left him a $2 tip thinking he gave me the cappuccinos for free only to realize he didnt when I hit 880 highway. I usually notice these things but they had a huge line and I didnt want to hold up anyone. Well not go back again.

Hands down my favorite coffee shop. I will drive 20 minutes to get coffee here. They are located a couple blocks away from Jack London Square. This place is small but very welcoming. This place is very popular with the millennials. Their menu is limited but that doesnt bother me or anyone I see coming here. Their portions are small but the quality in my opinion are top notch. They craftfully put together each drink uniquely and when Im standing and waiting for my drink its kind of fun to watch them. Ive tried most of their drinks and Ive fully enjoyed them all. I can really taste the difference and quality in my coffee compared to some of the other bigger coffee houses. I also am subscribe to a monthly mailing of fresh coffee so I can enjoy at home as well. For me this is the pinnacle when it comes to my caffeine fix. If your looking for a new place to get some coffee then I highly recommend you make your way here. Plus, Jack London Square is only a few blocks away. So grab some coffee and walk around and enjoy the day.

I always find it funny when someone still identify themselves as a "hipster" arent they just called TRENDY now? So last Millennium, but anyway... I think one of the funniest parts of my day is seeing a line out the door. 99% of the people are there because they saw somebody else there and certainly not from personal experience. More hype than quality!!!!! I can go anywhere that has an espresso machine and order a espresso macchiato. Not here no! Its not on the menu, so therefore the "Barista" cant rap his brain around what to charge, so therefore you cant order it. Theres a time and a place for everything! Having a snarky staff throwing attitude over ground up beans and water is a joke and not the place I want to go and spend money to get thrown bad attitude. I love a little sass with my service but you gotta have the brains to go along with it, otherwise its just insulting. Hopefully this trend will reach a critical mass, people will just realize its just coffee. And definitely not the best :(

Blue Bottle is a place of excellence, or at least that was what I thought. I went to the headquarters yesterday expecting to get myself an espresso. When I arrived there, the line and the weight were so long that I almost gave up having my coffee. When I finally ordered my espresso the barista did not tamp the coffee very well which led to a under extracted cup of coffee. They charged me $3.50 for a single espresso. That is overpriced. Because of my experience, I would gladly say, that Im not coming back there again.

Expensive, fun, hipster vibe. Peets coffee before Peets was famous; Starbucks before they encounted Moby Dick... This is early in the evolution of a great coffee company. Come, enjoy it now and watch them struggle with the ultimate dilemma: do we stay artisan? (and not make that much money), or do we sell our soul to the devil and go corporate (a la Starbucks)? There are no easy answers; just live in the moment and get an amazing cup of coffee or espresso drink. Hurry before they become too corporate!

The coffee is excellent, simple menu and straight to the point. The pastries are made fresh and a regular joe is prepared from a ceramic drip, not brewed. The coffeehouse is in an old brick building which houses the roasting plant and offers cuppings on Tuesdays. Bar seating inside and some chairs outside. The baristas are a bit of a coffee snubs and know if your not a regular which can be intimidating. Small batch coffee are for sale.

First time I try Blue Bottle coffee and Im kinda hooked! The place is tinyy! it has some seating outside, but I recommend just grabbing your coffee and going to park to sip it with a nice view of the lake. Even though it was packed and there was a line, it seemed that we went in and out quickly. The baristas were fast an d know what theyre doing. The coffee is great, iced or hot!

Uh-may-zing. The coffee is always exquisite and unmatched, probably consistently the best espresso drinks Ive had (and I drink multiple daily from many different shops). Not really a coffee shop, just a bar to sit at inside and tables outside, but what is there is elegant. Very "high end hipster", but if youre into that sort of this, Blue Bottle cant be beaten.

Expensive drip, slow due to long lines, cappuccino is always luke warm to me and they give you grief if you ask for "extra hot". I prefer Ritual coffees for taste in espresso drinks. However they do love their coffee and it is great to have a small coffee producer in my neighborhood but I rarely go there after the first few visits.

Long lines, small (almost hidden) menu, and limited seating. The coffee, however, is as good as all the hype. Very tasty daily blends, lattes and coffee drinks. Staff is also very nice and did not come off as stuck-up. That said, Id still put Blue Bottle one notch below Philz, in the battle of bay area coffee supremacy.

This is the source of Blue Bottle coffee, the hub, the place where the beans are roasted. If youre a Blue Bottle fan like me, come and visit simply to see where all the magic happens. Not to mention, the coffee is wonderful. Did someone say coffee tasting? Yes! This Blue Bottle has coffee tastings on the weekend.

This is the original Blue Bottle shop. Its industrial, with big windows and the quality of drinks they prepare is excellent. They have a few small bites, their short bread cookies are to die for. Their weekend coffee tasting is free and very educational. A must visit for a good coffee in the east bay!

I love Blue Bottle coffee but this place closes 30 minutes too early during the week. I work in Downtown Oakland and can never make it here after work to buy beans since they close at 5:30pm. Wish they could open up their tasting room for seating because theres never enough.
