Vishnu is an exceptional restaurant that serves authentic North and South Indian food for the Irvine lunch crowd. Their $6.95 lunch buffet was extremely affordable for the Irvine area, considering that Natraj in Laguna Hills charged me $11.99 for their North Indian style lunch. The buffet here was served in a low-key style on divided styrofoam trays, in a mini-cafeteria environment. A basket of plain naan and masala dosa was presented once I sat down. As I understand, Ram, the owner of Vishnu, is from the Andhra Pradesh region of India. As a result, some of the buffet dishes are from the southern regions of India with flavors accentuated from coconut and blends of spices rather than cream and butter.

At first I didnt like Indian food that much, then I came here and it was a revelation. At first glance, it doesnt seem like much. A tiny restaurant, specializing in catering, in a light industrial complex, near an airport, that serves food on those cafeteria trays from when I was in elementary school. The place is small and old and SUPER busy later in the week at lunch time. Sometimes people eat out on the lawn and sidewalk. But the food! The Dosas (Potato crepe thingys) and the Naan bread (Crispy flat bread) are straight out of the oven and pan. The curries, chutney and everything else taste amazing and are super satisfying. I love it! Only $7-8 for all you can eat lunch too!

Great little restaurant. Been only here for lunch but I think their main business is catering. Its by the round-about in the plaza across the airport, just google it and youll find it. The trays have little sections so your curry doesnt get all mixed up (YES!) and the price is an even $8 including tax. I think its $7.41 + tax which comes out to $8. They usually have 3-4 curry dishes, some veggies, rice, chicken and 1-2 more hot items. Im no indian food connoisseur but I really enjoy this place. Parking can be limited, so either come early or you may need to walk just a bit.

One of the best place to visit in Irvine, California. This restaurant is not very famous among people who search for restaurants; its for office goers nearby to the location. I have been to this place for ample times. $8 and you get 15 items for lunch. Chicken curry amazing as always. Unlimited dosa and naans. I wish all Indian Restaurants in US adapt to this menu style. Also, the menu changes everyday at Vishnu with many varieties. I had my friends drive from San Diego to have lunch here. Great food and excellent customer service by the boss and two other guyz. -SP

Last Friday we went to this restaurant and finding the restaurant is very tough and dont have any sign to locate it. Also very limited buffet items..i dont mind if they increase more items and make it for $10. They just have 2 Non-Veg items. Chicken Briyani is not that fresh and Chicken curry is ok. This is not exact south Indian food place because it was not that authentic as i expect and i see one Punjab person cooking the items. I gave 2 stars just for the staff on getting the items but food be careful while gettingi it.

The pros: The receptionist and staff are very friendly, courteous and respectful. Few Indian restaurants may have the same. The cons: The food is not as exciting. I wonder how so many have left such high ratings! Not only there are very limited items, the quality is not as expected either. For instance, the chicken tikka massala which is the main course in most of the Indian buffet is missing here. However, the overall is OK for the price, less than 8$ lunch buffet.

$8 including tax for all you can eat Indian lunch buffet is an awesome deal. I definitely recommend this place. The highlight is the dosa that comes unlimited with the buffet. Chutney is good but sambar is average. Curries are very tasty. Too bad theyre only open for lunch on weekdays 11am to 3pm. No chicken tikka masala but there are other chicken dishes. The food is so good I dont worry about the lack of ambience.

One of the best Indian lunch buffets Ive been to in a long while! They had a wonderful selection, and everyone receives a fresh, crispy dosa! $8 including tax, so its a great deal. There can be a wait for a table as its very popular. My only complaint was that it was very crowded - like you have to walk sideways to get to the buffet. Only a small inconvenience for such great food, though!

A real hole in the wall kind of place. It is no decor, no ambience, no style...but the food is fantastic. The buffet has only a small selection, may be 8 or 10 items, but they were done superbly. Few good dishes is way better than a whole bunch of bad dishes. Lunch time is always crowded if arrived after 1145a. Very limited seating. And best of all, it AYCE under $8. Cant beat that!

Good Indian food. They have a small buffet during the lunch time. Unlimited garlic-nann they serve. Sometimes you have to wait a little to get a seat during the lunch time on weekdays. Most of the customers are office workers from near by companies. Food is good. Vegetarian and non vegetarian food is available at this place with some indian deserts/sweets.

This restaurant is not eligible for even one star. When we had lunch buffet on a Saturday it was a nightmare. Spoiled chana curry, stale chicken biryani, no desserts for buffet. They keep giving dosa which is again with spoiled batter. Theres a lot of difference between spoiled and fermented batter. Besides all this theyre the worst in ambiance.

This is a simple hole in the wall place but the food there is excellent. Dont let looks deceive you. All you can eat lunch buffet for $8 is a great deal and it comes with dosa and plain naan. The place is small so seating is limited but well worth it. The chicken curry is the best from the dishes I sampled. I highly recommend for lunch.

This is an all you can eat Indian buffet. Very good, tasty and homely food for $8 including tax. Sufficient variety of food items. Small place and a bit difficult to find the first time. Sadly they are open only during the weekdays for lunch. The Mango pineapple sasam brought back some childhood memories :) Great value for money!

A hole in the wall eatery in the middle of office complexes, very small place with inside seating. Probably has 6 small table inside but turnover among patrons is quick, its hot inside during the summer. Also, theres a small washroom inside so you got all you need in one small place. Food is okay.

Simple buffet with excellent taste. Chicken curry is the best. Tandoori chicken is also good. All food options had typical south India flavor. Dosa is included in buffet. But it has very limited seating, be early to enjoy food without wait. Also please open the restaurant on weekends.

This place has delicious food and from what I am told real authentic. Lunch hour was crowded and took half an hour to enter the restaurant however I suppose just how delicious it all is. Not much decor in the restaurant but that does not matter much when you have a great meal.

Food is inconsistent. Sometime great sometimes just OK. Lunch is too crowded so you have to,plan some extra time. Sometimes the wait is 20 minutes or more. Staff is friendly but they can only do so much with such a small place
