Food at Saagar is ok. But the waiters are pathetic. There is one with thick moustache that you absolutely need to remain away from unless you want to ruin your day. Normally I dont really care about the service as long as the food is good. As long as I get my water refilled even once by the time I get the check, I leave a good tip. But the service at this restaurant is so bad that it makes a lazy person like me come online and write a review so that others can stay away, if not from the restaurant then at least from this waiter. I have only been there on lunches since its close to my place of work. First time I went there was almost 6-7 months back. Got so much attitude from the waiter when I requested another pair of knife and fork that I almost went to complain to the manager. Anyhow I forgot about that incident. And then a friend of my insisted on going to this place few days back since he was in a mood for some Indian food. So we went there again. Got the same waiter again who kept us waiting for quite a few minutes, and this is when most of the restaurant was empty. Thats when I remembered my last experience at the restaurant. By the time we got to the table, we saw a group seated at an arrangement of three tables pulled together. The hostess of that group was arguing with the same waiter as to why he misbehaved with her guests and to call the manager!! From what I overheard, she made a reservation for around 10 people couple of days in advance and when they arrived, the great waiter asked them to move the tables themselves. I was not surprised to hear this due to my previous experience. Anyways, the manager came out and by this time we were seated and I couldnt really hear much but I could see the lady talking to the manager who was probably the owner. I thought now he would offer an apology and probably reprimand the waiter and everything would be fine. That was till the point when the manager started shouting at her. I have seen a few restaurants with bad service before but nothing like this ever before. At this point the whole group that was with the lady started getting up to leave. It was apparently a family lunch since they had an infant in stroller. We also got up and left, and I am surely not going back ever again!

I review a restaurant based on every aspect and take out is one them. I pleased to say Saagar passed the eat in and the take out test!! My take out order was taken the minute I got there and without a note pad (very rare these days). The food was excellent, complete, hot and tasty when I got it home. I eat Indian food a lot and Saagar now rates up there with the best. I chose Chicken Vindaloo, many restaurants do have a different take on the construct of the dish. I was pleasantly surprised that it contained huge chucks of white meat and the right amount of potato. In addition, the naan was perfect, not to crispy and not too soggy, the onion bhajis were crispy as well as tasty and last but not least the rice wasnt dry but just right. Eating in was equally rewarding. I decided to go on a Sunday evening, it was very busy, but I did not feel that I was being left. The host was polite. The waiter was excellent and thorough. The appetizers came without delay. I have one main complaint usually, I hate my entree arriving when Im still eating my appetizer. I glad to say the waiter was observant and cleared the appetizer plates away first. The entree arrived, again excellent. Lamb Rogan Josh was the choice and again very well seasoned and the correct level of spice I asked for. I do have to criticize the music. It is played via a DVD and flat screens around the restaurant - please get rid of the TVs - going out to eat is our chance to communicate with each other face to face and not to have TVs to distract us. Overall though, a great experience.

Let me be very clear, the waiters like to throw the napkins on the table, and specially the FAT MANAGER WITH A GUT, who has a mustache is very rude.when was there for lunch, i wanted to check out the buffet first to see what they had, the manager came from the back and goes, "ITS FRESHLY MADE".. DO NOT WORRY. i was like what the F**k was he trying to prove ? Secondly, As we all know India is a holy country, so there was a prayer chant music that was going on at lunch hour, an amierican couple walks in and greets the MANAGER, then the couple asks, "whats this tune that is going on...?" the manager answers: that this is no TUNE, its actually HORSE RACING COMENTARY!. I think thats being rasist, then the client was like: na you must be joking, and the manager was laughing, and says the truth: its a chant, some "BULLSHIT CHANT" from india, and i dont believe in this CRAP - these were tHE MANAGERS WORDS ??? the MANAGER WHO had a south indian dark face, is actually a CHRISTIAN., working for a sikh boss, how can you ever be soo impolite to another religion. ? if this MANAGER does not respect his work atmosphere, how in the world can you CLIENTS EVEN DIGEST YOUR FOOD in such a place ? btw, they put too much salt in the PAKAORAS.. i personally am an indian, I travel alot, ALL over the world... and have not seen such managers, if the managers are like this..imagine what an attitude the cooks would have?...and that ATTITUDE THEN COMES INTO YOUR FOOD...can you actually EAT SUCH FOOD ?

We had a wonderful experience. The food choices and recommendations were fantastic. The flavors were some of the best Ive tasted as far as Indian cuisine goes. The female owner(?) who took our order was knowledgeable, personable, and helpful. Particularly, when I found I had forgotten my purse at the restaurant after closing hours, I returned back the next day to discover it had been safely tucked away in their office with everything inside accounted for. I greatly appreciated their humanity in my stressful situation. We will definitely return back. We learned they offer catering services, so we plan to cater our daughters graduation through them. We highly recommend this restaurant for quality Indian cuisine and service.

I went to Saagar on a date and the food was amazing, it was very empty surprisingly. I dont know if it is always like this, but if you are looking for a place thats bustling this is not it. I didnt mind the emptiness so much because it allowed for conversation. The only downside was a rude waiter who literally dropped the food down on our table, did not greet us.. threw our napkins towards us and seemed like he really despised his job.. but he was replaced by a really nice and helpful waiter.. Overall this place was really good but for the price I expected exceptional service all around which I didnt get.

I read some of the reviews for this place and I decided that I had to see for myself. The oceanic decor was fun and quirky. The restaurant is large inside, but the place was empty. Our waitress seemed rather stern, and though she was attentive to our table, she didnt come across as warm or inviting. We felt like she was angry at us. The food was well prepared and my party was satisfied with what we ordered. I highly value good service and so unfortunately even though they have tasty food, I probably would not dine there again.
