I lived in Solano County for many years and always considered Cattlemens to be the best steakhouse in the county. However, my last visit leads me to believe that the standard of excellence I previously enjoyed is a thing of the past or at least slipping badly. This latest visit was supposed to be a treat for my birthday. My wife and I ordered our meals and were enjoying ourselves until the entrees arrived. The butternut squash was COLD. Not like it had been sitting-and-waiting-to-be-served cold but still-cold-from-the-refrigerator cold. My wife had requested medium for her rack of lamb and it was bloody-raw in the middle. We sent both back to the kitchen. The squash was promptly returned, COLD again! It was sent back a second time. Now I had a choice. I could continue eating my steak or wait for my wife’s lamb to come back and have my steak cold. Eventually, everything was returned but the lamb was still raw in the thickest part of the cut. Instead of sending it back for another indefinite wait, my wife ate around the raw part and we left the rest. I would expect something like this at a cheaper restaurant but not Cattlemens. At no time did anyone ask us if we enjoyed our meal and I felt like nobody really cared if we enjoyed it or not so we didn’t raise the issue at the restaurant. An interesting thing we observed was a large party seated nearby getting a discount and an apology. Apparently we werent the only ones getting a lousy meal. Next time I think of eating at Cattlemens Ill make the drive over to Winters and eat at the Buckhorn or maybe Ill just go to Dennys.

Got there early at 4:30 to avoid crowd, so the service was very good. Was looking forward to a nice steak. Ordered Cowboy steak, med-rare. Arrived quickly, and was med-rare, but burned on one side and barely cooked on the other, but the problem was a horrible, bitter, burned grease taste all over it. The waiter asked how it was, and he and I quickly agreed to replace it, he was very accommodating. New one arrived. Well not burned this time, as a matter of fact was very rare, which I actually didnt mind too much. The real problem was again the BITTER nasty smoke flavor, like burned grease. I dont get it. You can barely taste the meat, just this bitter burned grease flavor. My conclusion is they put liquid smoke on their steaks. If you know what that is, youll know its a BAD IDEA. I wont eat there again. Ill cook my own!

We come to Cattlemens all the time and on only 2 occasions we have actually had great service the others are medioaker. But it NEVER FAILS every time we either go in and eat or order takeout our meat is always RAW! !! WE dont eat our meat any other way but WELLDONE!! I have complained everytime and when you get a response like Im sorry I dont know what to tell you I am gonna lose my mind. Its not ok to bring someone a raw piece of meat when you ask for welldone. Then the time it takes them to take it back and back to you the rest of your food is cold and your family is now done eating but you. Poor service I will rethink this place very hard next time I go. Cattlemens used to get my business 2 times a week now there lucky if I go once a month!!!!

I hoped for the best but got the worst cook ever!! It took 45 minutes before the cook got it right! All I wanted was a steak well done, I was served a cold baked potato , along with the Beans, all cold!!! It wasnt until after the 3rd time before they got it all right!! It was ridiculously long, finally the management came out offered me my meal , only mine, on the house. The steak was well done like jerky!! I should have just went to taco Bell !! Thing is it wasnt crowded anymore than usual!! Only thing they got right was the water with lemon and our salad!! My wife and I are very disappointed, and let down with the whole experience...................

Best Steak I have had in a long time. I went there as a group of 7, and we reserved online and it worked! The food was good all around. A little spendy so dont expect to eat there very often. But the atmosphere is the reason I rated 4/5 and not 5/5. It is noisy and crowded. Maybe I went on a busy day, but that was my only complaint. I like to be able to sit some place and just relax, so it being so crowded and loud was an issue for me. They do have a kids menu, and if it is your burthday they sing a song and give you a free cowboy hat. Its not paper either lol.

I know we have all experienced rude staff before, but Cattlemens takes the cake. I witnessed the hostesses heckling customers like a group of teenage girls. They would insult customers weight, facial features, clothes and even the way they talked.I witnessed this while on my way out of the restroom I live in Davis, I came here for school. I do have a bit of an accent and did not appreciate being mocked on the way out of the restaurant. i do not enjoy paying a lot of money just to be insulted.

We were seated quickly, which was great since we were hungry. My prime rib was excellent. Only downside was that we felt rushed through our meal. Salad served before appetizer, steaks served before done with salad. Bread basket was removed from table without asking if we were done. Was given take out box and check before we were done with meal. Waiter did come back and say it was his first day and he had mixed up his tables. Seated at 5:21 pm and was back in car to drive home at 6:08 pm .

Fantastic steak at excellent prices! I used to only go out for a steak at Mortons of Chicago and was in their VIP program. Cattlemens has steak that reminds me of what Mortons used to be in regard to quality. Cattlemens steaks are very good quality, and served with excellent sourdough bread and a salad all included in the price. Relaxed atmosphere, fine for a date night or if you just want to wear your jeans and relax. You wont regret it.

Great service this evening. We had the 10 oz. sirloin with baked potato, all you can eat salad and sourdough bread, drink included for $19.99 The steaks were cooked just the way we ordered them, tender and flavorful. The salad was fresh, with plenty of tomatoes, cucumbers, croutons, purple onions with variety lettuce. The sourdough bread is always fresh and hot. Our server and his helper were very attentive.

Loved It! The wait to be seated was about 10 minutes but there is a bar area (saloon) where you can grab a drink and appetizers if the wait is going to be longer. The service is excellent, and the food is exactly what you order or better. The restaurant is spacious and not crowded like similar restaurants. Great for birthdays also!

I really enjoyed this place. My husband and I have heard really great things, so we decided to check it out. We were not disappointed. All the staff were very friendly and the food-- omg, the food! You know its a great steak when you dont need A1, and let me tell you, it was better than great. Kudos to the kitchen staff!
