If youre willing to wait despite having a reservation, dont mind crappy service including management ignoring complaints, want to overpay, and are OK with occasionally getting food poisoning, maybe Tutti Mangia is for you. I have occasionally had very good food here. But its not consistent and certainly not worth the price. We used to consider this our special occasion restaurant, however after the last few times weve been there, weve decided to find a new restaurant. Mostly its the service - I have gotten food poisoning here before though (and somehow decided to come back!! I shouldve known then). On the night I got food poisoning, possibly from a steak entree or the vegetables served with it, the waitress forgot about our order, meaning we sat an extra 40 minutes before we finally said something. She also spilled sparkling wine all over my husband that she was pouring for the table next to us. The table next to us bought us a dessert and some drinks (nice of them). We got an apology from the waitress but that was it. I would think that those two incidents would make her try a little bit harder to provide good service - nope. We waited a very long time for our check as well. I was sick the next day. The last time we went to Tutti Mangia, it was shortly before the holidays. It was packed. We had called ahead and made a reservation for 7pm. When we got there the table was not ready. We were ushered to the bar, where no seats were available. We saw other people (possibly with reservations) seated immediately after entering. After 40-45 minutes of waiting (WITH A RESERVATION), we finally asked a manager if this was normal. I suppose he apologized - but not really. Nor did the hostesses. One group of four who came in 10 minutes after us were seated before us. A group that came in 10 minutes before we were seated also were seated at the same time as us at a four-top table (so seating the four before us made no sense - they couldve seated us first since we had been there longer and had a reservation). At that point we were furious that we had made a reservation and still had to wait 40-45 minutes despite others with (or without) reservations getting seated at the same time. We waited 10-15 minutes for a waiter to come. When the waiter came to the table next to us (to attend to the people that arrived 10 minutes before we were seated), we had enough. We left. I told the hostesses, and the manager who was standing next to them, that this was unacceptable and we would not be back. They half-hardheartedly apologized. Obviously, our business is not important to them. As someone who used to work in the service industry, if you approach a manager, the manager should actually try to get you seated more quickly, alert your waiter of the time you waited despite having a reservation so that the waiter tries to make up for it, AND offer you some sort of complimentary item. This is expected in fine dining - not passing someone off onto the bar, where there are no seats, making them wait 40-45 minutes past their RESERVATION TIME, seating people before them who may or may not have had a reservation, and then neglecting to even come to the table promptly.

This is a great little restaurant in the heart of the Claremont Village. My wife and I have eaten there more than a dozen times since we have lived in Claremont. It is a nice little Italian restaurant that is trying very hard to be casual fine dining or at least upscale Italian. The food, I would have to say, is above average for the most part. I have had few dishes in which I did not, at least, enjoy if not, really enjoyed them. The ingredients and creative use of Italian flavors is very good. The chef really does a good job with the flavors, plating and ingredients in almost every dish on the menu, keeping with the rustic Italian element that his menu reflects. Where I think this restaurant falls a little short is in the ambiance/decor and the service. The service is not that bad, but it is nothing special. The people are not exceptionally nice, nor are they rude. We have sometimes encountered hostesses and wait-staff that treat us like they really dont want us to be there or they may not want to be working there. Either way, it is a little annoying when you are paying above average prices. Also, the ambiance is ok, but not great and the decor is old and looks old. Not old in the sense of "old tuscan" or "antique Italian" which would be appropriate, but more like "used-restaurant-furniture" and carpet old. The small negatives aside, it is a nice place to come and have a casual dining experience, with above average Italian food and wine. I would not recommend it for a very special occasion or if you want to impress someone.

Good food, decent service, definitely kind of pricey! Located in the heart of old town Claremont, this restaurant is at the corner of the main stretch of shops and restaurant. I parked on the main road at a metered parking spot, pretty easy on a weekday around noon. Came into this restaurant for a work lunch. The interior is old and rustic, dark wood, and looks like its been there for a very long time. We sat down and ordered a few appetizers to share. Everything tasted very good. I then ordered a meal portion Quinoa Salad with chicken. Our food didnt take too long to come out. The salad was actually very tasty and very perfect. The dressing was not too heavy and not too light, tossed well, and dressing was evenly coated onto the veggies. The ingredients tasted fresh and flavorful. Service was ok, we got everything we asked for. The prices were a bit expensive, so be prepared to fork out some greens.

Compared to most restaurants in Claremont/Upland/Pomona area, this is one of the best. Service is usually outstanding. Wine choices are excellent. But the food can vary between memorable to astonishingly bland. Based on my dozen experiences at TM (grammatically incorrect Italian), I would say it is best described by the bouillabaise seafood dish. (Check out the menu which includes both "carne" and "steak/chops". Go figure.) The broth is as complex and delightful as I have ever experienced - heavenly. And yet the fish was so disgusting in flavor, I will leave it on the side. Usually the place to bring clients you want to impress. Not a good value.

I just got a fettuccine alfredo. They didnt have it in the menu Im guessing once they mentioned it in the kitchen they told the server that they can make it. Sorry to say but they dont Im never going back to this place noodles are not the ones it was really dry and last the pasta had no flavor. I suggest that if u say ur an Italian restaurant and u dont know how to make the fettuccine pasta dont ever tell the customer how to make it. P.s I know how to cook the fettuccine Alfredo and i guarantee the past was not supposed to be like that

Tutti Mangia is a real gem in the Claremont Village. While I dont live in Southern California I spend time in Claremont on a regular basis and have enjoyed returning to the place over the years. The food is unpretentious but excellent and I have always found the service to be wonderful. The wine list is good (with the occasional rare gems to be found) and the chef consistent in his cooking. The dining area is comfortable. Over all I find the place to be the best in the area and Claremont is certainly fortunate to have it.
