You know when you get invited out to dinner and everything on the menu is expensive, you dont want to be rude. Ive never been to Texas Roadhouse. I was surprised by their menu options and prices. Playing it safe, I decided to order the chopped steak. It was a less expensive dish, and I could still have some steak. Ive had a similar dish (Down Under), at their competition. I know Out there you get a patty of ground steak with a side of sauted mushrooms. Its a nice way to have a great dinner at a price easy on your wallet. We are seated immediately, with hot rolls. Mr. Monotone comes over right away, explains their philosophy and asks what appetizer wed like. He was softer than Ben Stein, but just as excited to serve (you get where Im going). We didnt want an appetizer but ordered one anyway. The Potato Skins had lots of fresh cheese, bacon bits, and only half hot and sticky (microwaved). With a side of sour cream and ranch. Que the entire wait staff, SCREAMING their version of happy birthday, a rodeo horse saddle, hat and an extremely embarrassed 10 year old at the table next to us... Oh and when its over.. We some how have received our dinner (not from the waiter). Whoa! The 2 of us have collected plates for 6. In conclusion... The rolls were delicious. The potato wedges were not. The rolls were delicious. The salad was standard. The rolls were delicious. Dinner came and I ate too many rolls. I did taste the Road Kill Chopped steak. The sauted mushrooms were good. The meat tasted like your standard ground hamburger. Ive had better from home. We managed to bring home a lot of food. No rolls though

When this restaurant first opened a year or so ago, it was quite good. Clean restaurant, good steaks, large, fresh rolls, and a fun and energetic environment. Now, its more reminiscent of trying to find edible food in the middle of a war zone. Tiny, flat and dry steaks - like road kill scraped right off of a tanks tread. Itty-bitty baked potatoes with the extra "0.99 cent toppings" that are barely visible under a high-powered microscope. Salad with lettuce so wilted that you realize your grandma doesnt look as 95 years old as you thought she did...the lettuce makes her look youthful again in comparison. Oh, and its LOUD inside. And I dont mean loud like in a "people having fun" type of loud either. More like people trying to yell loud enough so that the person next to them can hear them comment about how loud it is. The repetitive 90s country music is just far too loud...which then gets lowered slightly as the waitresses prepare to dance...then suddenly BAM! Grandpa can hear again! Its turned up THAT loud while dancing and gnashing of teeth ensues. But, to make up for the noise, you can enjoy the dancing. Oh, btw, the line dancing is embarrassing. BUT they did manage to get the authentic look of the Texas 20-something girl who wears entirely too much make-up with too-tight jeans on a too-loose body looking for ANY man on a Saturday night. One girls jeans were so tiny that her zipper was down. I dont know whats happened at this place, but itll be awhile before we return.

There was a very long blonde hair baked into one of our rolls, which one of us found in his mouth. When brought to the waitresss attention, she acted like it was no big deal. I would expect at the very least an apology from the waitress and the offer of one of our appetizers free of charge (we ordered 2 appetizers and 4 dinners), or perhaps a small discount off our final bill as an apology for the disgusting experience. However, the waitress laughed it off and asked if we were ready to order. The food was awful. The steak was WAY too salty. I ate 5 bites of it and couldnt stand to eat any more. The butter herb vegetables were awful, too. They tasted like plain steamed vegetables, but undercooked and half raw. Horribly overpriced. I expected amazingly good food or at least large portions for the prices I saw on the menu. But, my side of butter herb vegetables was a tiny child-sized cup and, as previously stated, the food was awful. The atmosphere was terrible and made for an unpleasant dining experience. Waiters and waitresses congregated behind our booth, talking and laughing. The place is noisy in general, but to make matters worse there was constant traffic going by our booth. The booths are very small and the two men with us were rather large. They had difficulty fitting, which was embarrassing for them and I think inconsiderate of the establishment. It felt like we were sardines packed in a very noisy box. Definitely will NEVER go back.

This is my first time eating at this Roadhouse, but it had the worst serve Ive ever had from a Texas Roadhouse. It took the waitress, her name was Brittany, 10 mins to come to our table and ask us what we wanted to drink. I guess talking to other employees were more important that doing her job. Then I ordered a medium cooked steak, I got a rare steak. For a steakhouse, you would think that their cooks would know how to make steaks. As we were leaving the restaurant, the hostess was digging in her purse while saying goodbye to us; however, there was another hostess with the one digging in her purse that was nice from the beginning. I wish I got her name as she is the only reason why I am rating this with two stars opposed to one star. It sucks that this Roadhouse isnt that great, since I have been to way better ones in the past.

We went to the Citrus Heights location for the first time on March 6, 2016. We had used the call ahead seating and were seated immediately upon walking through the door. Shane was our server and gave us 5 star service during our dining experience. Since it was our first time, he explained everything we asked and even gave some suggestions, which I took, the great ribs. He insured the food was delivered promptly and checked often to see if we needed anything, but not so many times to be an pain, as some servers can do in other places. We cant say enough about this young man and his enthusiasm for his job, his customers and the service he provided. Always with a smile and the "can-do" attitude rarely seen in the world today, he made our visit a very positive one and we will be back. Thanks Shane!!!!

Stopped by for lunch Saturday around 2:00. Just myself. Did not wish to sit at the bar and was told it would be about five minutes for a table. Was not terribly busy and there were empty tables so I agreed to wait. I was told it would be about five minutes. Five minutes past, then another five minutes, then another. No communication from the staff to let me know it would be soon or take a bit longer... Nothing. I saw several people leave and no one arrived during this time. I could have gone up and pressed the issue but figured that if they could not seat a party of one within fifteen minutes then there is no telling how long it would take to get waited on or even get the meal. Very disappointed with this place... They are typically much better than this. I guess they just dont need the business.
