When I heard news that Alhambra was going to be opening up its very own 85, I was overjoyed. I scoped out the place before it opened and saw that it took up a good amount of space on Main Street. But upon visiting the store - this has got to be my least favorite 85 location out of the many ones I have visited. The layout of the store is so horrible that you cant help but wonder what they were thinking when they designed this layout for the store. Upon walking into the bakery, youre immediately greeted by the sight of the familiar shelves that encase the ever popular "fresh bread" that 85 sells. But theres only a small L-shaped section in the store that houses the bread. I was a little confused by how tiny the bread section was and even looked around to see if there was more bread elsewhere. I came a week after the Grand Opening, and it was still packed. So the tiny section was cramped. Everywhere you turned, you were shoved or pressed against another person. This made trying to get the perfect bread incredibly tough. They really need to rethink their bread section. Theres also a huge window where you can look into the kitchen and see the pastry chefs hard at work. I think the window can be blocked by more shelves or something. And then you have a gigantic space where theres only 3-4 tables but lots of empty room all around. Hopefully theyll add more tables. If the storefront is already so big, why not use the space to its fullest? The line snaked along all the way to the bread section and almost out the door, making it really difficult to maneuver. The bread selection is quite small, so they have to try to put as many breads out there as possible. Unfortunately they didnt have any of my favorites when I went there, but of the ones I did get, they tasted very solid and similar to all the other ones I have had at various 85 locations. I also ordered a sea salt jasmine tea, which is super amazing. They announced right when I ordered that it would take another 15-20 minutes to brew a fresh batch of jasmine tea. Which was fine, but the tea I had was super bitter. Guess I know that the tea was made fresh! tl;dr - Try to go when you "think" there will be less people. The layout is totally unfit to house more than a certain number of guests. Theres a ton of parking in the lots and the street, but if you go on a Friday night or weekend, note that parking will be difficult to find!

85C is a fantastic Taiwanese bakery. Actually, they offer pastries from many regions of the world like Portuguese egg tarts and Hokkaido cheese tarts. Grab a tray and tongs at the front and pick up any super fresh breads and pastries that look good! Its hard to go wrong, really; if you like carbs, youll be in heaven. Prices are reasonable for the quality. I definitely recommend the tarts mentioned above as well as the red bean bread, the cheese breads, and the spicy sausage. My favorite though is that egg tart. The crust is flaky, dense, and slightly sweet while the egg filling is creamy, eggy deliciousness. I could eat those things for days! They also have specialty drinks made with sea salt. Sounds weird, but theyre fun to try. Ive had the iced sea salt green tea; the tea is very sweet with a honey flavor, and the salt is added as a sort of whipped topping. Be sure to mix the whip into the drink, or you wont get much salt until the last sip (not fun!). Im not a huge fan, but its worth trying at least once.

85C is a great bakery! (although Im still a Bake Code homeboy! :P Its hard to be super-excited about this Alhambra 85C if youve been to the Pasadena 85C first. Alhambra is good, but Pasadena is so much bigger. There might have been more, or a lot more, food items in Pasadena. Or I might be wrong, Im not positive. It seemed like a lot more. For sure theres so much more seating in Pasadena! You almost have to get your stuff to go in Alhambra. Theres only about 4 tables for 2 there and whoever gets them seems to stay forever so you cant realistically wait for a table. In Pasadena they have SO MANY tables! Plus one huge, tall, community seating table. 85C Alhambra is a good place, and if I lived in the apartments there Im sure Id be hanging out. For me, if Im in Alhambra, Id rather just go enjoy Bake Code, or if I want to hang out at 85C, its worth the hop up to Pasadena for a much nicer version of the same place.

Compared to the one in Pasadena, Id say this one is far bigger. It also has a dedicated parking structure right behind the lot, so you dont have to go around the entire part of the city looking for places to park. In terms of the baked goods quality, I would say that they are slightly better than the ones from Pasadena as well, although this is heavily biased due to me hating the one in Pasadena because of the difficulty I have finding parking lots. Nonetheless, the biggest con would be that since the place is big along with its huge logo outside, it attracts quite a few people. Therefore the waiting time for your order could be significantly long.

We purchased the red velvet cake because the salted coffee cake was going to be ready in 3 hours -.- I recommend you pre-order a specific cake that you have in mind because youre not guaranteed to get it even if you show up once they open. Also, if you want bread, you need to go to in the mornings because they run out so fast, you either need to wait an hour for your desired choice or youre left settling for something else :/ Even with how busy this bakery gets, this place is always clean inside and out.

Got there right around noon and all of my favorite pastries were available!!! Coffee bread, brioch loaf, berrytale, muchroom wheat germ stick, etc. Did they have a price increase recently? I havent been to an 85c location in months and seems like prices have hiked. Coffee drinks are always delicious but the strawberry banana smoothie wasnt the best and a bit costly at $4.50 plus additional $0.50 for boba. Customer parking lot available with plently of open spots.

Heaven. I visit at least once a week to get my bread fix. The house coffee is just perfect. I think I have tried every bread here and cant say Im disappointed yet. My favorite: the mangotale. I think I can eat about 4 in one sitting alone with a cup of house coffee. Theironically cakes are just amazing as well. Always fresh and just perfect in terms of taste and presentation. I have had the mango Brule and the tiramisu. Both are just great!

Within the entrance alone, your walking in and you get such an aroma of this bakerys many delicious baked goods. And to cherry top it, if you think your nose is fooling you, you hear staff members say aloud, "fresh bread, fresh bread!". Can you ever go wrong with visual freshness coming to the floor? Id think not. Despite the minimal seating, the vibe from the environment just warms your heart... and your appetite for pastries.

Food is not always straight out of the oven (saying fresh bread is just a company policy, regardless of freshness). You can ask the employees if they have the bread you want. The sea salt drinks are good, but sea salt Monday (where sea salt coffee of any size is 85 cents) lines are kind of long. Their smoothies are also good. Seats arent always available, so dont plan on eating in.
