I will not give this a 1 star, simply because the people that works there are very nice people. However, my husband and I have been in this place 3 times (i believe in second and third chances). First of all, I am a THAI/Indo food fanatic. The taste of their simple fried rice was SO bitter and burnt. Peanut sauce was not up to par either. Chicken was tasteless and too big. My husband ordered some pad thai and he was P*ST off because it didnt taste like ANYTHING. Second of all.. the prices are OUTRAGEOUS. 9/10 dollars for rice?! There are 2 places out of God knows how many Thai places in the valley, that I will recommend to everyone instead to get AUTHENTIC food that is ALWAYS great with great service and a bang for your bucks. Thai Rama in Tempe and Line Thai on 99th & Bell towards west valley. My personal fave is Line Thai. I ordered the same thing at Dara as I did with Line Thai and my portions are much bigger, more tastier and it was only 7 bucks.

Dara Thai is an absolutely exceptional place to eat, I have lived in this town for about 12 years now and I have seen many places come and go, but Dara Thai has always been a staple of anthems perseverance and fresh approach to things. from the freshest most authentic food imaginable, I know a handful of people who travel 50 plus miles just to eat at this place once a week. the atmosphere is very casual and family oriented, and the staff is also very friendly and happy to help, not to mention family owned in itself. I would absolutely recommend Dara Thai to anybody in the Greater Phoenix metro area, you will not leave disappointed or hungry. when you do go, ask for Piya (peter). he is the owner and would be happy to help you.

My husband and I tried this place the other night while we were shopping at the Anthem outlet stores. We were expecting it to be a good place, especially since we read all the reviews. First, I would like to say that the service was dreadful. We had to wait 10-15 minutes to get service. By the way, did I mention my husband and I were the only two people there? The place was empty and still we got bad service. Once we ordered our meal vaguely resembled thai food. The panag curry was overly flavored with mint and lacked little or no taste of coconut milk. This place is okay for occasional takeout, but that is about it. Dont come all the way out to Anthem for thai food, because you will not get it just yet.

I live locally and have eaten here many times. Never have a had slow service even during dinner rush and the food is always hot and comes out very quickly, never more than a 5-10 minute wait even when the restaurant is full. These people claiming bad/slow service and giving this place a bad rating are probably other restaurant owners trying to steal customers ( cant think of another valid reason why the harsh criticism) Anyway, I would definitely recommend dining here, always a good experience.

Friendly low key place near the outlets at Anthem. Good if you are passing through along 1-17 and need a quick hit of Thai. Spice level is 1-5 but if you are used to spicy food then easily order a level 4-5 with no fear. The duck red curry was good and so were the chicken dishes (drunken noodles and satay). The chicken was moist and not over cooked as is typical for these types of joints. Tom ka gai soup was flavorful as well. Overall we were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed our dinner.

A great little hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant! Excellent food, especially for the price, and with friendly service. Havent tried any of their noodle dishes, but the curry (served with a side of rice) is exactly what Im after when Im looking for good Thai food. If you like spice, dont be afraid to order your food at level 5 (it wont melt your face off), but do keep in mind some curries will feel spicier than others, even at the same heat level.

For those critical of the D health rating. Well as a former restaurant owner I will admit thats not so good. On the other hand you can be certain that they have that place spotless now and all those issues fixed. The health inspector WILL BE BACK more than once to verify. So sometimes the cleanest places to eat are the ones that have recently received bad health inspections.

the staff is wonderful - helpful and friendly and they are good about not spicing up my orders (Im a big baby when it comes to hot) but making my husbands orders spicy HOT the way he likes them. Also LOVE the duck :) p.s. looks like the review below is from someone who was either digruntled or competition. I cannot believe any of it...their staff is exceptional.
