I love the cafeteria-style Southern restaurant. Meat and threes open up a world or possibilities, and most of them end up being pretty darn good. Blue Moon Cafe an excellent modern realization of this concept, with a wide open space with lots of tables and plenty of people to help you get your drinks and anything else youll need. Plus, theyre even open for Sunday lunch (though it costs a bit more than the rest of the week). HOW do these places manage to keep their fried chicken crispy when its sitting in that hotel pan, waiting for me to pick it up? Ill never understand, but Blue Moons was awesome, with a crispy crunch that was more airy than some other places Ive tried around here. Collards and broccoli casserole were just dandy, too. The carrot salad was sweet enough to work as a dessert, if you werent so inclined to grab an actual dessert from the buffet line. As I sat there and ate my Sunday lunch, I watched the stream of people filter in through the door, no doubt coming straight from church and wanting to indulge in the particular speciality that defines this part of the country. Even if the taste of the food hadnt convinced me, I knew from the local support that Blue Moon Cafe is the real deal.

Not good. (like review saying). They tried to be some thing like Boston Market, or Jasons Deli type of authentic american restaurant but interior is cheap and food also is something came out of freezer. Old peoples place. My RECOMMENDATION IS "SOMMERS PLACE". IT IS 400% BETTER FOR EVERYTHING (even price!) AND it is only 0.2 miles away. Do not go after 1:30 PM. They are closing at 2:30 PM so nobody will care about you except collecting money while you are eating. (For me, after 2 minutes bringing food, a cashier kept coming to me for the payment and signing the bill. * Country Fried Steak - Terrible. * Mac and Cheese - Worst ever. * Cheese bread - ok * Turnip Green - Boiled in plain water (not salty was good but no taste, no bacon, nothing except green and water) * Breaded Fried Chicken - OK * Skin Fried Chicken - OK Kids meal - $7 Adult - $9 (1 Meat and 2 side)

SERVICE: On a Friday morning, the wait was about 30 minutes for 2 people. There will always be a wait because its a small place, about 12 tables and thats it. However, I think the wait is even longer because the service is so slow - from the time your waiters get your order to the time your food is given. Its just really slow. FOOD: The Captain Crunch French Toast was good, it is dry but the crust is sweet and crispy. The Sweet Baby Jesus was okay but did not live up to the hype. The eggs benedict was also okay, has a bit of sweetness in it which is unique. The eggs are very fresh though which is awesome. Overall, I think it was the French toast that made the visit worthwhile. I would still come back to try other food but I would not be dying to come back. I hope the other stuff in the menu are better.

Great food! Lots of it or as much as you choose in a whimsy cafetera sytlized setting. But the atmosphere otherwise is filled with southern charm and a bit of fun. The service was excellent, even thought the place was packed. I lacked for nothing when it came to service, and was pleasantly suprised when the owner even stepped up to assist me. The food is delicious - yes as others have said, "with something to please everyone." The prices are fair or even better considering that none of the food was premade. Everything is made from scratch from family recipies - as the owner told me. It is delightful, but be prepared to pay for all of that Southern Charm with whimsy and absolutely Great Southern Cooking, plus some Really Good Gormet Items! Ill be back as often as possible!

From the warm, welcoming staff to my last bite of a perfect banana pudding, my recent visit to the Blue Moon was more than memorable. I had the fried chicken, black eyed peas, turnip greens and a lovely sweet potato souflee. Each bite seemed to be better than the last. This is the food of my childhood, my fondest memories. Finally in Montgomery! Thank you, Blue Moon, for taking me back home.
