A very disappointing, over-priced meal. We had gazpacho and 5 different tapas: the gazpacho lacked fresh flavors; heavy melted cheese over rubbery chicken was so salty that the dish was inedible (even when wrapped in tortillas); the garbanzos 3 ways was overwhelmingly garlicky, eclipsing any other flavor; the sauteed calamari was grease-laden and with an odd off flavor, the small potato puffs with aioli were covered with a smoky spice that looked good, but untfortunately was not. The chicken quesadillas and margarita were average. Service was pleasant, and there are plenty of traditional Spanish touches. Unfortunately, these could not offset the food. Did we hit an "off" night? I really dont know -- but at $80 for two -- we wont be trying it again.

We arrived and were promptly seated. The margarita was excellent however the ice tea tasted sour as if it were made days prior. The tableside guacamole came to our table already prepared. There didnt seem to be much flavor to it outside of the avocados. The waiter recommended their marinated steak skewer. This came out and the beef was tender but tasted of grease. No marinade. No flavor besides greasy cow. My wife wanted to try the crab cake but it was not at all what you expect with a crab cake. The crab was fishy with no filler and again no sauce. There were a few small onions diced in but not near enough to cover up the fishy flavor. Its really a shame that their food isnt better because the building is beautiful!

Worst Mexican food I have ever had. Service was not much better as my server was too busy talking to friends at the bar. My meal came 20 minutes after wifes meal. The reply from the manager was "we are quite busy tonight". The refried beans were cold and dry. Their appearance resembled dog droppings. Overpriced trendy fake Mexican restaurant that is patronised by entitled millennials. An email was sent to the owners to vent our displeasure with our dining experience on that Saturday night. Never received a response. Their are plenty of good Mexican restaurants in the area so we wont be returning to this place again.

The Matador was a great place to eat. The service was excellent and the outdoor seating is very nice. The view and vibes of downtown wayne are charming to say the least. I ordered the chicken fajitas and was a little unimpressed. However, my friend ordered the Flautas de Puerco which were excellent. It was called a small dish but still very filling as a main course. We also had the guac for an appetizer which was very good. I think that the tapas at Matador are very good. I would go back for tapas. I probably would not get the chicken fajitas again. All in all, Matador is a good find.

Ive been to this place couple times, and this last one was just terrible! They had I believe 4 tables. Our server was terrible. He didnt care about us. I had to ask the other server to take our order. (Thank you so much! I dont know his name but I saw how he worked. Good job!) As I wrote in the back of the check. the food is not that amazing to pay that amount of money. However, the drinks are very good. A $12 margarita is a lot of money, for a place is not worth to pay it. Its a shame that a restaurant like this one could be a successful business, but it is not .

The place has gone downhill over the years. For the price and being located on the mainline, the service and food need be of the highest quality. Service was subpar and was like the whole staff was disappointed we were dining at the restaurant. The appetizers were ok but the paella wasnt good and the fish was old and boarderline. Really disappointing to see the decline in food quality and service for what used to be a solid restaurant. Seems like this one has taken a turn for the worst. Embarsssd that I took people to this establishment.

I do not think I will visit Matador again. The portions of the food are genuinely alarming compared to how much they cost. If you would like to enjoy quesadillas I would suggest the nearest Applebees (where you receive a full tortilla) because a 5-year-old child would leave this restaurant starving. The salads were subpar in flavor and size as well. The quac and chips were great but the quac is literally mashed avocados with a squeeze of lime so save yourself the time and money; eat elsewhere or create your own Mexican cuisine at home.

Our first time here. We had an overall great experience. Waitress was juggling a lot of tables, but was very nice and very helpful advising us on what to order. Tapas were terrific! In particular chickpeas and spinach (no picture, sorry!), marinated beef and jalapeno rellenos. My husband loved the pork flautas. My daughters loved the quesadillas and flatbreads. My father enjoyed the crab cakes. All adults loved the red wine - very smooth. Definitely coming back soon, probably for date night with my husband. : -)

Weve been there many times over the years (probably more than 30) and will continue to go. The food is very good and for the most part the staff is friendly/polite/capable. The Organic Margarita is tasty and the beer is good. My only other comments would be that I like my beer a bit colder and I think the menus were looking a little tattered the last time we were there. Id like to see more tapas specials instead of the specials just being large main meals. The Pollo Fundido is a favorite.

I give it a 2 because the server was very thoughtful. Here for an early dinner. Chicken flatbed with sesame was close to a paste taste not balanced at all. Had to ask for new sauce with flavor. Order tuna steak, came unseasoned and fully cooked like chicken of the sea. Returned and Recvd correctly cooked tuna but little to no flavor. Tapas style food should have flavor. Lost opportunity to salvage the customer experience by chef/owner and host.

I love Tapas restaurant but this was the worse one I have ever been. I dont like to write bad reviews but I dont want anyone to have the same experience I had. Perhaps the other dishes they have are good but the three tapa dishes I got were terrible. I didnt eat not even half. I got the calamari a la plancha, flautas de pork, and the ceviche. I am sorry but I was really disappointed.

Get the sangria pitcher. Great value, and really good. The tapas are nicely made, and just right sized. You will want to get a few of them (2-3 per person), but that makes it all the more fun trying lots of delicious flavors. Waitstaff are wonderful and very attentive. The bar downstairs is filled and loud, but upstairs is a nicely decorated space.

We ordered 5 tapas. The shrimp smelled fishy and did not taste fresh. The guacamole that they prepared at the table was good. Overall we found the food to be inconsistent. The room was freezing cold, but we liked the fact that it did not get loud even though they had a good crowd. We thought that the pricing was fair.

Food is good but the service was terrible. Waiters didnt know which tables the food was going to. Had to ask for out coffee 3 times. Got tired of waiting for coffee and ate the desert. Eventually the waitress brought the coffee but had to wait for the liquer for a while. By the time the liquer came the coffee was cold.
