Having dined here regularly since opening, as does my Mother, I am sorry to say that The Pied Piper Diner is no longer a positive dining experience. The food quality has slipped a little to a marginally acceptable level. Recent food safety concerns have been shared with me, although none were evident during todays visit. Service has taken the largest drop in quality. Servers observed today were unskilled, untrained in anticipation of needs, argumentative with guests, and so unconcerned with any remote elements of proper service that we were still artempting to enjoy our salads, when our soup was served. That soup was untouchable when the entree was served. Three essentially simultaneously served courses - to a table of guests obviously not in a hurry is not acceptable. Bread was unoffered. Table maintenence was nonexistant. So few customers were dining that it was surprising we were hurried out so quickly... The cashier was unable to make proper change without a calculator and insisted on rounding my change to accommodate some unknown personal need. Puzzling and entertaining! No management was available during this visit.

We rarely post online reviews but today we had the displeasure of stopping here on our way back home from NJ this Monday morning 4/29/13. Were not usually very picky people at all this place looks beautiful from the outside but needs serious help service/food wise. We were greeted by nobody at first and stood there for several minutes and seated ourselves before a sour blond woman stomped passed and snorted like we had some nerve disturbing her quiet morning. Then we were treated to another sour blond who seemed more irritated about another older woman who was apparently not moving fast enough for her and begrudgingly brought us our coffee. Then we waited 20 minutes for our food, simple eggs (good),potatoes(smelled like feet) and toast,(barely warm and hardly toasted at all) all the while listening to gossip about the owners and it also seems like they hate several if not all of their co-workers.. If your looking for cheerful waitresses and decent breakfast food I would skip this one, I know we will not be back on our next trip through the area.

We stopped at the Pied Piper Diner for a late lunch on a Saturday. The crab bisque was thicker than pudding, tasteless and the small crab piece felt like an extremely overcooked noodle in my mouth. I could immediately tell that the pickled beets were old just from looking at them, and one taste proved it. The smoked sausage was good after I cut off the chewy skin, and luckily it only had a couple of tiny bone pieces. I learned later that it was a wise decision to ask for the gravy on the side. The filling was so so. I could hardly believe I was hearing my own voice order dessert but I went for the key lime because it was the first piece out of the pie. It had the consistency of finely scrambled eggs with a slight lime flavor. My mom ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon, and after I saw her head snap back trying to break off a piece of bacon I knew I wasnt alone. But I did hear their breakfasts are good.

Service friendly and food is what one should expect at a roadside diner, good plenty and affordable. Definitely not a one star thats beyond silly folks and if you are looking for gourmet five star food go to a high dollar restaurant for $350 a seat. This is normal working people food and the atmosphere is family diner. Such places are dotted across small town PA. and one should understand what to expect and what not to, no valet, no caviar or crumpets. As I told our server, places like this are why people like me drive down rt 100 rather than the Penn Pike. It is worth slowing down once in a while. Take a deep breath sit down and relax , Life is Good!

Dont let the old poor reviews turn you off to this place. We had an awful experience at an IHop in Wyomissing and left without eating. We stopped here on the way home (breakfast). We were quickly seated and our order quickly taken. The waitress (Angel) couldnt have been better! She was sweet, efficient, and attentive. The restroom was very clean (and Im quite particular). They even had lotion, which was a nice touch considering its winter. The food came quickly and was delicious! I recommend the stuffed hot cakes and skillets. Thank you for making what would have been a bad day great!!

My family and I ordered a meal, the meal came with salad, soup, entree, and bread. We went to the salad bar and ate our salad and entree but we were too full for the soup. We paid for it since it came with the meal but they said we couldnt take the soup home, but they let us bring it home last time but we could bring the bread home so?? Idk what their doing to the soup that u cant take home. So I would definitely not recommend this restaurant much better places too eat and to take ur food home if ur full that u paid for.

Awesome! I took 6 of my 7 kids and even though there were 7 of us at the table the waitress and staff were completely professional and friendly. They put together a table for us very quickly and had our orders in and served in no time. The portions are very large, in fact the kids dinners looked as if they would feed an adult. Two of the kids ordered fried shrimp and they were REAL shrimp, not chopped and formed from a frozen box. I was very pleasantly surprised and we had a great time.

Went to lunch today at the Pied Piper. I ordered the Gyro which was recommended by our server. I had five bites, each one hoping for some flavor which never happened. My daughter ordered the Chicken Cesar Salad. She said the lettuce tasted like soap and the chicken was nasty. With an appetizer our bill came to $27-ish dollars. Total awful food. BTW, our server was very nice but unfortunately she doesnt have the food to back up her service.

I used to love this place, but the last TWO times we went there it was disgusting! !! Last time we went there our food came to us cold. I dont meen warm I meen ICE COLD. So we decided to try breakfast. I got eggs Benedict. My English muffin tasted like cleaning product. You could SMELL whatever it was 6inches from my plate!!! When wr told the host he said some things cant be avoided..... WHAT???? Never again!!!

On Friday, Sept 7, 2012 we stopped in for dinner. The waitress was very attentive. I had chicken cordon blue panini and my wife had Italian herb chichen. Nine minutes after the waitress took our order, it arrived at the table. The plates were large and the food was hot and filled the plates. The food was very good and we will definitely eat there again.

THE MOST accommodating server weve EVER had ANYWHERE. She was terrific....too damn bad I cannot remember her name. And the food was excellent. We love going to "diners" as you can get breakfast 24 hours a day. We had a perfectly prepared breakfast at 1:00pm. We pass this place on numerous occasions and will now NOT drive past.

Not even worth 1 star. The food was all over cooked and we were charged more than the listed price and when we tried to let the owner know his response was "Ive been in the business for 35 years, i can do what i want." Also nevet got the bread basket that was supposed to come with my meal and there was a hair in the salad.
