The prices are great. For around $10, you get a HUGE plate of really good food. Ive never tried anything I didnt like at El Toro. Its definitely Americanized- whatever you order, it wont very spicy at all, but the majority of people like it that way. I normally like my food very very spicy, but everything I have ever ordered has had such great flavor that I havent minded the lack of spice. The restaurant itself is very homey, very tastefully decorated in a unique southwest theme. There are several big, bright, LCD TVs in each dining room and at the bar, usually tuned to a sports game like soccer or baseball. El Toro has a ton of different locations, but each restaurant is different, so it doesnt feel like a chain. The booths at the Beavercreek El Toro are HUGE. You could easily fit six people in a booth comfortably, but I like to go with just my husband, because sitting in one of these big booths makes you feel like you have the whole restaurant to yourself. The servers bring you these delicious fresh tortilla chips and salsa as a free appetizer, and keep the basket full of fresh chips until your food arrives. They are really nice, laid back people, so if you dont like tomatillo sauce or guacamole, they are happy to make you a special order. The servers are so fast. It seems like every two minutes someone walks through the dining room balancing sizzling skillets of delicious-smelling food. The whole restaurant smells delicious every time I go. I love it! I would recommend it to everybody, even if you dont think you like Mexican food, eating at El Toro will change your mind.

We stopped at the El Toro Restaurant and Grill Sunday afternoon. (There are several in the area; we stopped at one across the street from the Greene.) The inside atmosphere was a nice mix of the "chain Mexican" and "rustic Mexican" atmospheres. It is a little funkier than the sterile aesthetic of eateries in the Greene proper. It passed my first test of any "ethnic" eatery: People of that ethnicity were represented in all positions. (Note: That test was formulated after eating at Abuelos, where the only non-Caucasian people I saw were busboys and kitchen staff... but definitely not waiters, greeters, or others who actively interacted with the public. Discriminating against the ethnicity your restaurant is supposed to represent is a quick way to keep me out of your establishment.) The food was rather good. Not the most sublime we have ever had, but pretty good. The burrito and enchilada I had were very cheesy, which was an interesting (and yummy) take. My wifes meal had rather less cheese than expected, but was again good. The service was a little spotty; we were pretty sure (with our rusty Spanish) that at least one of the waiter/hosts was upset about something, but couldnt catch what. Unfortunately, that spilled over somewhat into how he treated us. Again, though, there apparently had been something that happened right before we got there, so Im willing to accept that as a fluke. Lunch plates clustered around $5-$6, dinner plates cluster around $9-$10.

Pretty bad experience tonight. My boyfriend and I arrived around 7pm. It was slightly busy but nothing too hectic in my opinion (as I am a server myself) We stood at the host stand for about 15 minutes, as several employees passed us without taking action. Finally someone shows up and takes us to our table. Chips and salsa arrive moments after weve been seated. But we arent greeted by our "server" for another 15 minutes. We order our drinks, order our food, and wait patiently. I see several other guests come in and out. Some ordering their food after us and still arrived before ours. 45 minutes go by and our server comes by to ask if we are ready for our check. After I informed him that we havent even received our food yet, he says "Oh Im just joking for real"...Right. We give it another 15, maybe he got busy and just forgot to ring it in. It happens. But then we never see him again. I informed the person at the cashier stand of the incident. We just wanted to pay for our drinks and head out at that point. The cashier apologized and told us not to worry about paying for our beverages. I appreciate the two free beers and two cold bevs, but our server was just terrible. And where was management when all of this was going down? Super disappointed. Well take our business elsewhere. Lo siento.

Went in after work with some coworkers and friends. We sat at the bar, I asked if any specials are going on. The bartender replied with yes $1.99 bottle beers. My group I was with spent the next three hours there thinking we have a new spot to come to on Thursdays. Time to check out we received our bills, I had five bottle beers and my total was 18 dollars. I questioned why my tab was so high if the beers were $1.99? Bartender replies that ended at 9pm, we arrived at 8:45. You would think they would tell us that special was ending soon after we arrived. I paid the bill and asked to speak with the manager. The manager never came over, my two buddies who speak Spanish informed me that they were talking rude about me. I finally by my friends telling me who the manager was by over hearing them speak about me. I approach him to discuss what happened. The manager words were "you should learn to read" speaking about a small sign that hung next to the please wait to be seated sign. I will not be going back to this store and I advise everyone to not visit because of the service and the rude manager.

Absolutely floored at the service we received! We are very loyal El Toro customers and went for a special 100th birthday celebration of my great aunt. The waitress took our order, delivered our food, and was never seen again. Their were a total of five in our party, we told the staff it was a special celebration, Im not sure why the service stopped after our food was left. The fajitas were super greasy and the beans were luke warm. We told her when we ordered we wanted to place a to go order before we left. She never brought back a menu, asked if we needed anything else, got refills, or brought to go boxes for our left overs. She brought the check and when I mentioned the to go order, I was ignored. I dont understand what happened. This is intolerable, so many restaurants in the area, we simply wont return. Sad...

Completing my undergrad at UD, I found myself at El Toro more often than not. Lately (late 2012-early 2013) there has been a new waiter who’s name rhymes with Zoro only starts with a “M”. He is completely clueless to customer service and only seems to worry about himself and the ladies showing a ton of cleavage. I have had the pleasure of being sat at his table 3 times and all three times he has brought out the drinks with the meals and never came back. 2 of those times I had to ask someone else for our check. Overall the food is not bad, however if you find yourself going to this location, just remember do NOT sit at the waiters table who’s name rhymes with Zoro and starts with a “M”.
