I am a culinary arts graduate and have ten years experience in the industry both front and back of the house. This is not a fine dining restaurant you would expect for the prices they charge and the decor. Benches made of painted plywood are not found in a fine dining establishment. A reach in cooler with beverages on top and produce in the dining area is not found in a fine dining restaurant. The concept of different menu every day is a fun venture to try for a chef but not with that large of a complicated menu. Overly eccentric with no theme or concept. The skill of knowledge is evident of the ideas and some of the flavors but the delivery is average at best. Burnt bread was served gratis with cocktails. Why put melted butter on top of a hot cider?? This isnt a sauce. The flavor of the cider was perfect as is. I had the "seared" eggplant as my appetizer. This wouldve worked if it wasnt marinated first. So it was a soggy, black bowl of slightly charred eggplant. If it was grilled with a drizzle of the marinade then stacked with layers of caramelized feta, it wouldve worked. This concept requires most meals to be prepped according to reservations. The entrees had very good flavor with simple ingredients. We played it safe and got a steak and a ravioli. The flat iron steak was perfect. I had issues with the ox tail ravioli. The ox tail itself was prepared correctly. Good texture and flavor. The raviolis were not al dente. Very chewy and the sauce was extremely overly complicated. The chef/owner opened the dining room pantry/beverage cooler and dropped some produce on the ground and put it back in the cooler on top of the other food. I did not see gloves being used in the food prep in the open kitchen. The server was very good and attentive. Answered many questions about recipies and ingredients perfectly and has alot of experience. Overall, I would not recommend Knife and Fork.

What happened?!?!? My husband and I found this place about 2 years ago and loved it. We came back for every special occasion and got the exact same meal each time; steak and lobster, mashed potatoes and beer battered string beans. It was always great quality and a dinner we raved over. Last night, New Years Day, we went back and ordered our typical meal. This time though, "disappointed" is an understatement. We mutually described our lobster as "chunky, freezer-burnt water"... lobster is my favorite seafood.. you can imagine my disgust. Our filet mignon was cooked way more than our desired doneness, it had a good flavor but the quality of the meat and the doneness was not like we remembered. The mashed potatoes were flavorless, the only thing that was how we remembered were the string beans. Considering the meal is expensive and we skipped lunch in anticipation of over-eating, we doused our lobster in an entire half lemon, dipped it in butter, added salt and quickly consumed it for the sole purpose of eating. (And it was still gross!) Were not restaurant complainers and certainly did not want to cause a scene so we quietly paid our bill, tipped our waitress and exited the building with zero desire to ever return. What a disappointment for a usually amazing meal. Looks like next time we want steak and lobster well head to Outback where we know it will be fresh.

I showed up to the restaurant for dinner during Atlantic Citys restaurant week on a Friday night. I was a few minutes late for my 8:45 reservation. My friends and I ended up waiting an additional half and hour before being seated. Because weve been told that you have to experience the steak at the restaurant we selected the filet mignon dinner. The french onion soup was delicious. We received our filets quickly. I personally found the dry rub seasoning to be too smokey and it lacked flavor. A nice cut of meat, it was nicely seared on the outside but it was still mooing in most of the center. I prefer a medium rare steak which is how I ordered it. Although I can tolerate it rare I was already feeling rushed by our server who made it clear he worked a double shift so I didnt return it to be cooked a bit more. The desert was pleasant, 3 small pastries. When our server dropped our check he announced we were his last table, which made us feel rushed. Overall the ambience charm of the restaurant are worth the visit but Ive had comparable if not better meals at less expensive restaurants. I will probably return because I dont believe in judging a restaurant based on one meal but for a filet mignon, Ill go to Mortons or Bobby Flay in the Borgata.

dI am a Atlantic City resident and this is the first time I have dined at the restaurant since the new owners have taken over. The last time we were here the family that owned the restaurant were having big problems and it showed in the quality of the food and service. To say that we had a bad time was putting it mildly. We thought we check it out again because the new owners are the family that runs Docks oyster house and what a great restaurant it is. We were disappointed overall in the quality of the food and service. For the price of the food along with the drinks we thought that we could have done a lot better at just about any restaurant in Atlantic city.We even came at a slow time of the year.Avoiding the busy time.Overall we thought it to be very over priced for the overall quality of the food and service.Hopefully your visit will be better.I know that you can do better because I have dined at Docks and found it to be very good.

Very disappointed with our dining experience. The service started out fine but literally stopped after the entrees arrived. We all wanted wine and water to go with our meal but no one returned. The spinach salad was excellent, the filet was charred and the lobster risotto was prepared using the waste meat from the tip of the claw. So overall, Id rate the food about a 6 (1-10). After an hour of waiting for the waitress to return, I finally left our table and asked for the check. She returned and dropped it in front of me, failing to acknowledge her lack of service. Desert and coffee would have been nice...but it wasnt offered. I definitely wouldnt recommend this restaurant. A better server may have helped but I still found it hot, crowed, noisy and over-priced for the quality of their cruise.

Were were there Monday January 25 th with a party of 10.We were told that this was the same people whom owned the Dock which was closed due to renovation. What a shame the dock was closed because this place was a major disappointment .The colossal shrimp appetizer 18.00 consisted of 4 small to medium size shrimp ,21-36 count. The Ceasar salad was the highlight of the meal. The waiter was pushing the 18 oz dry aged bone in cowboy .He raved about the marbling and how juicy the steak was which was the exact opposite of how my medium rare steak was served. It was medium, tasteless, and a 46.00 mistake. The table ordered about every side available because everything was al a carte .All the potato sides were tasteless but the asparagus was good.Save your money

Fabulous staff. Awesome food. Elegant setting. We celebrated my Mother-in-Laws 75th birthday here as a party of 6. First time for all but one of us. It was a typical Saturday night in A.C. but the Knife & Fork retained a friendly, unhurried atmosphere that was relaxing & very enjoyable. Just enough buzz that you knew you were out which is great! The staff were all attentive. Just when it occurred to you that you might want or need something (water glass starting to run low, a drink needed replenishment, next course could be arriving) there they were making it happen before youd have to mention it to anyone. Including the birthday cake we asked for! While riding back home, we all agreed that the Knife & Fork comes Highly Recommended!
