I went to Benis on 11.26 to celebrate my birthday. A reservation was made, specifically for a regular table; however, that did not matter. We waited at least 20 minutes, only to be placed at the "grill" with a family with 4 kids. Since we requested a regular table, I politely declined the seating request. The host instantly caught an attitude. During this time, a table was sitting empty. When I requested it, I was fully ignored and instead, again placed at the "grill" with another couple and a small family of 3. Since we had already waited so long and our stomachs were talking, we went for it. Our waitress was really rude. She talked so fast, none of us could understand her. My date had never gone to Benis, so we needed a bit longer than literally 30 seconds to review the menu. In addition to our entrees, we also contemplated sushi. The waitress had a problem that we took longer to order. Whomevers job it was to stock what was needed for the chef, did not do so. Our chef, Carlos, tried his best to entertain us, while yelling for items he needed. During our meal, our waitress was quick to pick up items before we were ready. For example, I wanted to keep my salad and despite my telling her, she took it anyway! She was moving so fast, she didnt pay attention to my response. She never asked how everything was, only refilled our water once, and was never around when anyone needed her. When the check came, of course there are suggested tips of 10, 15, and 18% added; In my opinion, she did not deserve the $10 tip that was suggested, but my date reluctantly paid. He really wanted our chef to get it. Overall, Benis is no longer the same. Our waitress was TERRIBLE and she made my dates first experience horrible.

I had the worst experience I have ever had at Benihana yesterday 9/28/16 at 7pm for my birthday dinner at the Golden Valley location. It started out with terrible service at the bar while we waited for our table. I waited over 15 mins to be served. One of the bartenders looked at both my boyfriend and I TWICE and ignored us while we waited. We were finally served when the MANAGER waited on us. The bartender continued to ignore us while the manager took our order. The dinner was ok. It was the end of the meal where it went sour again. The server took awhile to bring us to-go containers. There were two birthday people at the table including myself, we did NOT get the birthday song sung to us NOR did we get offered the ice cream that comes with our meal. We also did NOT get the traditional photo at the end of our meal. Three things I have been offered the 10+ times I have been to Benihana previously. When I realized we werent getting ice cream, I asked the hostess and manager and we were given tiny portions of ice cream to go. The hostess got the server and he was very rude about the situation. Not to mention, the server did not apply my birthday coupon to my bill and when he returned with it applied to our bill, it was the wrong order. He had to go back again and fix it. I have never had such a terrible experience at Benihana before or at another restaurant for that matter. We have been to Benihana numerous times before that and have enjoyed our experience. I am extremely upset with the service we received last night. To not offer us our ice cream, birthday song and picture, on top of being ignored at the bar, is extremely ridiculous and lazy and ruined our experience.

Both my daughters and I were at Benihanas last night to celebrate my oldest daughters birthday. My family and I have been faithful Benihana customers for the past 19 years, it was one of my husband and Is first dates. And I have loved this place ever since, but last night was horrible, and I am normally a Benihanas #1 fan. We spent almost $100.00 for horrible service. We normally go to the Maple Grove location but they had later reservation times. First of all our server was rude, then when she would ask us questions like what we wanted to drink she would not ever look at us or address me or my daughters, she would only look at the other race of people sitting at the table with us. So I felt like we were being ignored & treated unfairly for no apparent reason. not at all friendly, seemed to have a attitude issue & after she brought us our drinks we never even saw her again until it was time to pay. Then our cook, cooked the food so fast, the shrimp was undercooked not at all seasoned well, did not taste well, he rushed through it and did not do any of the normal entertaining I tried giving the both of them the benefit of the doubt because the place was so packed maybe they were under a lot of pressure from their managers. But if this had been my first Benihana experience I would never, ever come back. But because I know Benihana can do much better. I will return, just not to the Minneapolis location.

The only reason why I went back to Benihana was because I had a gift certificate. Dinner was a 45 minute wait, which was fine, but I helped myself to the sushi bar/area since you can seat yourself in that area and there was not wait. It took forever just for someone to help us. After ordering our food, I specifically asked for fried rice with the shrimp sauce that everyone always rave about. When our dinner came out, he asked what kind of rice we wanted again... I then had to repeat myself and wait for the rice to come out. My bf and I both ordered the dinner boat (chefs special). The whole thing was bland. Soup, salad, dinner was the blandest food Ive ever had. The chicken was plain white with no seasoning. Shrimp was plain. We even had a sushi roll, which was ok. The famous fried rice with sauce was super bland. The highlight of my dinner was the orange we got with our dinner. This place is so overrated. I wish we would have gone to the buffet down the street, Super Moon; its cheaper and it is better. Ive eaten at many sushi/Japanese/hibachi restaurants before, and this is by far, the worst. This place is overpriced and catered to people who lack taste buds.

Had 8 open tables when we checked in for our 8pm reservations, but didnt get seated till just shy of 40min after reservation. Spoke to Kimberly "The General Manager" for this location. She stated she wanted to help, yet mimicked me, said she would do nothing but offer to get my service started. Finally at 9pm got our drinks. This is now the 4th time in a row at THIS LOCATION weve had an issue. Although attempts to accommodate had previously occured. I would definitely go to a different restraunt or location. If we didnt have so many multiple people we would have taken Kimberly up on HER OFFER TO LEAVE and have our dinner SOMEWHERE ELSE! This is the Example the general manager "with 20 years of service" sets this restraunt doesnt deserve our money or loyalty.

We had a reservation for Lunch at 11:30 am - we were seated for 15 minutes at a full table before anyone came over to take drink orders or take our food order. We were sitting at the table for 45 minutes before the cook even came out. Mind you the place was dead - only two other occupied tables. The food was terrible - under seasoned and bland. The fried rice had no flavor whatsoever. No one came around to give refills on drinks - everyone walked around with a purpose but made no attempt to make sure if anyone needed anything. I have never been disappointed by Benihanas at other locations in other states, but this was a total let down with poor service and subpar and lackluster food. I will never take my staff here again.
