For groovy, exterior, eye candy alone, I would give this place a high rating. It has the vintage look that other places try desperately to recapture. The neon sign out front is one of the best and most iconic signs in the city. Look up "diner" in the dictionary, and this is it. Unfortunately, other than the groovy exterior, low ratings flow everywhere else. I know the food here is suppose to be greasy, but boy, it is really, really greasy. I think, over time, most restaurants have made an effort to cook healthier (not healthy, but at least healthier) and when one enters a greasy spoon these days, it hits like a ton of bricks.... very heavy. The most disappointing of all is the atmosphere. It wasnt bad, it just wasnt good.... not what I wanted to feel in an old school diner. While the food was warm, the service was dry and slightly cool. No music playing. No hustle. Just a lot of nothing. As I ate, looking out the window, I saw more more fun going on at the bus stop and I felt my self wish I was waiting for a bus rather than eating at this restaurant. Ive always wanted to experience this place and now I have. Would I go back? If others in my party wanted to, I would, but only if I failed to change their mind. I doubt that I will personally make an effort to return... not unless this place gets worked over by Kitchen Impossible.

I couldnt be more pleased at the offended reviews left by people expecting some some sort of retro entertainment from a diner that happens to be old. Twig And Life excels at two things- having breakfast all day and being quiet. The staff acknowledges your existence, and gets out of your hair. The food is acceptable, and doesnt need to be anything more. At certain hours of the day, its completely empty. Its perfectly mediocre and I wouldnt change a thing. (3/5 stars would be most appropriate, but they serve biscuits and gravy all day, which is an absolute deal breaker. While I want to scare off the snobs, T&L deserves recognition.)

I was the only customer in there. There were three workers: the manager, the cook, and the waitress. We walked in there and basically had to yell for them to come out and take our order. I ordered a chicken sandwich and macaroni and cheese. The bun was sticky, the chicken was the same as the patties you can find in the frozen section at Walmart except a lot greasier. The macaroni just wasnt any good. I ended up paying $10 for my food and wasnt pleased. Way overpriced, I could of bought a whole pack of those patties at Walmart for $10.

They recently designated it as a landmark when it should have been designated to demolish it! Even Tom Owen disagreed with this. The place has been a dump for several years and hasnt been any good since the couple that owned it in the 80s sold it. Now then it was a great breakfast place. The last time I was in there several years ago it was dirty and the service was poor, not to mention the food. Looking at it now from the outside, not much has changed. The biggest joke is that the people who pushed for this dont even go there!

I would recommend Twig and Leaf. The prices are great, staff is great, and food tastes great. Its a unique dining experience and a neat little local business. The only thing I would say is that they mainly have things like burgers, fries, onion rings, salads, etc. so my recommendation would be to change up the menu a little bit. But if you like traditional foods, this is the place to go! I would definitely come back here again and would recommend.

Terrible service, small portions, terrible value. I am the only guest in their establishment and I dont even receive a hello. I just receive a stare as she holds her notepad waiting for me to say something. I could not even get a single coffee refill. No wonder I was the only one in there during what should have been the lunch rush.

The chicken noodle soup was like water with noodles in it. The cole slaw was rancid. The waitress forgot to bring drinks, forgot to bring a spoon with the aforementioned soup and the French fries were greasy. The Twig & Leaf was a Louisville institution many years ago, now it is just a diner being run by someone who cant cook.

I grew up with chain restaurants, but recently decided to check out this diner. There was only about 3 people in the place, but the atmosphere seemed pretty cool. The food tasted pretty good and the service was quick. From reading the other reviews, the place used to be a lot better before the new owner took over.

Its a great non chain diner that serves my favorite meal breakfeast all day. All of their food is great for the price, you get what you pay for, it is no North End Cafe. It is just a simple diner with good food that you eat at when you are in the mood for a diner environment and are in the area. I love it.

The owners lack the understanding of the restaurants history and do a poor job of catering to the locals. If all you want is some Sysco food and mediocre service or a place to hang out because Heine Brothers if full, then have at it. Most of the foodies in the area wrote this place off long, long ago.

When youre hungry for breakfast food go here. If you dont like the atmosphere it is because you like places like T.G.I.F. It is a great breakfast place always a spot at the bar and the menu is cheap. Great place for people with no cash but want a lot of good food.

Ive been bring family and friends here from out of town for years and almost everybody (with the exception of one person who just loves generic chain restaurants) has loved it here. Good food, friendly staff, and cool building means Ill keep coming back.

Just had the biscuit and gravy platter. Excellent! The gravy was the way gravy is supposed to be. Not too thick and not too thin. The sausage is top quality. Not the cheap stuff you usually get. Besides any place that serves tater tots is tops with me.

This has become my new spot recently. Its really low key, and the employees are awesome! Amazing servers, funny and down to earth. They really make you feel like family. Id recommend this place to any and everyone!

While the biscuits and gravy are nowhere near "almost world famous" as menu suggests, they are fresh. The Twig & Leaf, a Louisville landmark, is under new management and Im pleased to report is worth a re-visit.

Very disappointed; an overpriced diner with no kind of charm. We were the only ones in the restaurant and the staff was filled with apathy and sadness. Now I can say Ive been there, but I will not return.

The food was great. Id recommend anyone check this place out. It seemed a little short staffed, but I went during a not so busy time so that could be why they only had 2 people working.

Old diner that I cant help but love. Always have. Very much a real diner though not diner theme... just a diner with diner food but I love it.
