Let me tell you the sushi is well made, light rice, fresh, and tempertured right. Fish melts in your mouth, so goooood. My problem lied with the waitress, the whole experience was stange. She seemed mad, it wouldnt have hurt her to force a smile or atleast apologies for her kids chasing eachother around our table and touching our table to get to the food. It was weird. Finally when it became time to pay we left $60 (three $20 bills) in cash for a $61.00 tab having asked to put the one dollar on the card so we can leave a tip. The credit card was charged $21.00 and she claimed we only handed her $40 after discussing what to charge where and counting it three times in front of her. I confront her about it, she goes back into the register and returns to our table and proceeds to slap two twenty dollar bills as if that was all we gave her. I literally didnt accuse her at any moment thinking it was a simple mistake asking if she could check the cameras, but she was extremely defensive. Its a simple fix, if we were wrong it would have shown on the camera and we would have looked like the fools instead. Bummer

I am really bummed to have to give one star. Previous service and food has been wonderful but todays interaction really bit the bullet. I came here today with 4 other adults and 4 children expecting a good sushi lunch. Instead we walked out very disappointed by the quality of management. We each had a coupon from amazon local or Groupon and were told that only one coupon per table could be validated even with separate checks. So being as understanding as we could with 4 toddlers we sat at 4 separate tables. With the hassle of moving and waiting for a good 5 to 10 mins another woman (maybe manager) came out and said we still couldnt use separate coupons because we all came in together. The restaurant employee argued with us, told us that Groupon has been a hassle for them too and basically told us we as paying patrons were in the wrong. If we came in at separate times and sat at separate tables from the beginning we would have been served and our coupons validated. So much for a nice lunch out with friends!

I just got back from dining at Hana Matsuri tonight. I ordered teriyaki chicken with the house salad. The salad had a delicious ginger dressing on it that I really enjoyed. This will definitely make it a tougher decision for me next time I visit as to whether I opt for the miso soup or house salad to accompany my entree. The teriyaki chicken had a great char and the teriyaki sauce wasnt overly sweet like it can be at other Japanese restaurants. It was a $12 dish but they give a lot of chicken and some roasted vegetables on the side. It is a great alternative for anyone who isnt in a sushi mood. I also tried some of my friends tempura shrimp sushi and green tea ice cream. Both were delicious, particularly the ice cream. Enjoy!

Sushi is my favorite meal and Ive been to a lot of sushi restaurants in Colorado. Hana Matsuri is my favorite of all of them. The fish is always fresh, the portions are big, and plates are always artfully done. They also have king salmon a lot, and its so very good. The service there makes everything that much better. Eddie, Heather, and the rest of the staff make sure youre happy. Everyone there always seems happy to be working at Hana Matsuri, and that says something. I even tried something off of the kitchen menu once -- it was perfect. I think youll be happy here even if you dont like sushi. Keep in mind, though, that sushi is their specialty and the rest of the menu is a bit limited. Ill be back!

We are big sushi fans and living in Denver - well, you find your good places for sushi and you stick with them. This is really good food, made with finisse and love. Our entire family likes to go and since one child loves sushi and the other prefers a good chicken finger, Hana Matsuri offers the best to both. Great draft beer specials and happy hour pricing all the time. Specials that I am a huge fan of: New Style Sushi of any sort, their live scallop on the half shell with fried muscle and mixed greens. Scallop Appetizer. Big Eye Tuna Roll and the Himachi Orange Roll. Eddie is a friendly sushi master behind the bar, and Heather is charming and a lovely hostess.

Been going to Hana Matsuri for the better part of 7 years now and its pretty rock steady in terms of sushi quality, and the quality is high for this area. Udon and Teriyaki are up there as well. I like the Atmosphere personally, though layout is a bit crowded, and it can get loud. Love the sushi bar here, chefs are pretty friendly, fun to talk to if theyre not super-busy. Criticisms about the wait staff from other reviewers are correct, unfortunately - very on and off with them, depends on the time of year and when theyve hired a bunch of newbies. Waits can be long and menu knowledge isnt always there - has led to a couple of mistakes on sushi orders in the past.

Updated for 2017. The owners have moved to their new place in Littleton, and the quality has dropped a bit. Have had some not so great uni, but fish is still above average. I have been here over 100 times since 2011, and every staff member has turned over. Worth going but not what it used to be. Before: Really good sushi, with a very reasonable lunch menu. I often eat sushi and travel extensively and this is really as good as Ive found. Fish quality is exceptional, udon with tempura is great and the live scallop is really worth getting....presentation is excellent. They usually have Uni on Friday-Sat and it has always been very fresh. Highly recommended.

I have been here probably a dozen times. Have been disappointed once but with the service only. However management made things right with the bill and listened to my complaint graciously and offered free dessert. Sushi here is life changing. Fresh and flavorful. Presentation is awesome and price is reasonable. Great atmosphere with okay to good staff. My wife always gets excited for date night cause she knows were likely coming here and she can get their amazing Vegas Roll. Neither of us were sushi people until we found this place. There usually a few dollars off on Groupon pretty often too. Keep it up Hana Matsuri!

Excellent and high quality sushi and sashimi in Northern Colorado. Came here with the family to celebrate a birthday event. The restaurant atmosphere is family oriented. Service was great and friendly. Quality of the sashimi was as good as it can get - as if it was taken right out of the ocean minutes prior! The presentation was truly artistic and complements go to the chef!! The Kobe beef role was quite unique and a must try! Also an unbelievable and delicious must try Id the Teriyaki beef! It was cooked perfect delicious and very tender! Complements to the chefs at this place!
