EDIT - Since I only get to review one thing (apparently - It could just be user error, as Im a newb), Im going to have to add more stuff! General - Its kind of unfair for the rating system to have a number for the decor; the decor of Kawa Coffee is functional coffee shop, with mis-matched tables and chairs and couches and the like. Very reminiscent of the coffee shop in Capitola CA I grew up with (Mr. Toots, on the Esplanade). The place gives the proper semiBohemian vibe, while at the same time is kept scrupulously clean and organized. While Im not a big fan of the style (which is no fault of Kawa), it is very comfortable and very hospitable. The service is top-notch; the baristas want to make your first cup the best cup youve ever had, and it shows. My friend Lisa Swanson is enamored of their honey vanilla latte; she swears this place is the first place where it is consistently made the way they should be made (as opposed to the inadequate consistency of the Other Place). I am addicted to their green tea fraps, myself, and their strawberry smoothies are comfort food for my nine-year-old son. Yes, Kawa has become our favorite collective place to go and relax, and in my case, have my butt handed to me in Parchesi all the time. The Maple Capuccino - This is the creation of one of the baristas at Kawa (they have a recommended list, which Im working my way through one at a time). Now, I had to try this one first because Im a sucker for maple flavor; one of my favorite snacks at that Other Place (tm) is the Maple Scone, but since their coffee at the Other Place is so bad, I havent had one in awhile. The good news - the drink itself was excellent, but at Kawa one comes to expect a certain top level of excellence. The bad news - the drink was strong enough such that the shots of maple spice could barely be detected. It was sweet, as if someone had put in sugar, but the expresso completely overpowered the maple taste. Had this been a latte, then I think Id have had more of the maple flavoring, but as it was I could barely detect it. But back to the good news; as an expresso drink, it was still fantastic. I also had their scones; these are homemade by the owners mother, and I got the next-to-last one. I tell ya, it was clearly a nut-flavored scone, with an oat texture. It was moist, nutty (although not as nutty as me, but I digress), and to my delighted surprise, it had morsels of butterscotch contained therein. My love for butterscotch is second only to my love of maple; apparently my raving about its goodness sold the last one, so I was unable to buy a second one to take home and share with my son and dog. What... you never share your goodies with your dog? I sure do; in fact, my dog loves Kawa coffee as well. She has had bacon, turkey, and egg/cheese bagels, but although she begs, no expresso for her! Kawa Coffee has a dog bowl outside, and its always filled with water - in fact, it was that canine courtesy that first inspired me to drop in and try it, my first trip. If you see a scruffy, loveable, friendly hyper-JackRussell terrier mutt, thats her...

I have loved coming here for a year or two now. I love their burritos, family-like atmosphere, and frappes especially, although Im sure everything else is great, too! I just always get the same thing - a toffee nut frappe with a breakfast burrito. Karen went out of her way to make up a toffee nut syrup for me when the shop switched over to homemade syrups (which, by the way, are just as good as Da Vinci or Monet). The location (right behind/beside the Union DMV/drivers license office) is excellent, too; my place of choice to get some cash and a treat for my business at the DMV I have nothing bad to say, honestly: I wish they were open later in the day, but I know its a local business and has limitations. Otherwise, spot on, 5+ stars if I were allowed.

I ate at Kawa today with a friend for lunch loved it! Their Italian Soda was delicious with lots of syrup flavors to choose. I got the raspberry one with cream. I had a country club bagel sandwich and it had the perfect amount of mayo sauce with great flavor. My friend had their "Picasso" bagel sandwich which had chicken and melted provolone. The bagels have a lot of flavor in them as well. The sandwiches are $6.50 which I think is a great price for the quality and taste. The sandwiches come with sides and I had the bacon coleslaw side. Best coleslaw I have ever had! This was a cozy and relaxing family owned coffee shop which I would recommend to anyone. Cant wait to take friends and family here.

This place is a bit hard to find, but worth the search. There is a cozy feel, and everyone is so friendly! Love the breakfast burritos. Im a chai drinker, and besides soy, you can also get it with my favorite....almond milk! There are rolls of paper with lots of crayons for kids, and a cozy living room-type area for relaxing. Im a believer that a coffee place should be warm and friendly along with delicious food and drink, so its now my fave place in town! (I only wish they were open on Sundays...but I guess its family-run, and we all need time off!)

Stumbled across this adorable business this morning when the DMV was closed for Veterans Day. Staff was amazing, friendly, professional. This is a great place if you are meeting a first date, job interview, friends. Very cozy. Decorated well, plenty of great seating. I will be back for sure. Hip and kind of trendy but still comfortable and welcoming. The quiche was in fact amazing. The Irish creme latte was perfect.

I love this place! The food is great and the chai lattes are fantastic. Every time Ive been there, the staff has been amazing and very friendly and the atmosphere is quaint, cozy and charming. I wish there was a Kawa in place of every Starbucks! They have a great selection of real made-to-order food like my fav pesto chicken sandwich on a bagel and reubens, as well as breakfast options. You wont be disappointed!

I really enjoyed my experience at Kawa Coffee. It took me a minute to find as its tucked away in a shopping center, but it was worth looking for. The barista was super friendly and funny. He cracked a lot of jokes and gave me all the information I asked for on drinks. The atmosphere is chill and pleasant to be in. But most importantly, my drink was sooooo gooood. Well be back for sure.

I found Kawa on Google...just trying to find a new shop other than the daily grind...what I noticed first was their variety of coffee selection. Ordered a breve cortado and I was taken aback by the dark roast....but the barista remade the cortado with a light roast and it was exactly what I had pictured. Non-pretentious staff just good retail service.

This place has everything one could want in a coffee shop and more! Wonderful coffee choices.. I love the books and board games in the back and how they have fresh water and treats for dogs.. The amazing breakfast burritos and quiche are a nice touch also. It really takes the edge off of going to the dmv, and is possibly the reason its so crowded!
