6/9/15 After a long morning of intense physical labor, my husband and I were more than ready for a big midday meal. We joined two other couples at the Chevys in Union City near Hayward. Since the Concord Chevys closed it doors years ago, Ive only been able to feast on my moms leftovers from time to time. But here we were again, with baskets of fresh, crispy chips in front of us and delicious salsa cups in front of them. Casey and I shared the combination fajita platter with a rib addition on top. The sizzling plate comes with four pork ribs, and fajita style chicken, steak, pork, and shrimp. Also included is pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, corn, butter, lettuce, beans (your style), rice, and soft tortillas. I asked for a side of limes and received some lemons - that was fine. The service overall was really good: fast and friendly. I didnt have to pay for the meal and didnt even look at a menu. Just sat down and went to town. The food was killer and we received enough to feed two very hungry adults, with nothing leftover but a little rice and tortillas. I left here feeling a little sad and lot full; I miss our local (Concord) Chevys.

Went here for happy hour and the service was horrible. I will recognize bad service as well as I will recognize good service. As soon as we were seated our server did not introduce herself, I asked for the margarita flavors she pointed to the menu and said we could read it there. To top it off it was a friends birthday and lets just say the hat placement was quite rough. Now, the cherry in top was when she brought is our check we were not ready to leave so we figured wed wait She came back and said we needed to pay now because she needs to leave now. Normally someone would come over and introduce us to another server that would help is during a shift change. Nope!! Not this time. I just couldnt believe it I had never been treated that way in a restaurant ever! Maybe she was having a bad day but as a server you never treat your customers that way.

Ive been to this place 5 times, and each time it has gotten progressively worse. Service is always friendly, and the food started out decent. But the only time they time they got our order correct was the 1st time we visited. Nothing major: its usually the side order that gets incorrect (black beans instead of re-fried, etc) , but it gets irritating when it happens all the time. The final straw was when we showed up on a Sunday afternoon after the busy crowd. The food came an hour and a half later, partially incorrect, we where missing our tortillas, and I ended up feeling sick the rest of the day. So, Id wait a year or two before going here. Maybe by then they will have either cleaned up their act or become a different restaurant.

Chevys has a reputation as a Tex-Mex chain in trouble, as they have closed many of their restaurants. Their food is NOT traditional Mexican. It is Americanized, Tex-mex cuisine. Take that for what it is worth. I really like Chevys because of that fact. They lighten up a lot of traditional Mexican food and dont overspice it. So its a lighter, friendlier type of Mexican. We eat there once in a blue moon; most recently for my birthday. I went their specifically because they are really silly - they put a sombrero on you and sing, which my 9 year old daughter thinks is hilarious. So its a great, inexpensive place for birthdays, chips & salsa, and Americanized Mexican food.

This used to be a good place, but over a period of time, food and drinks quality has sharply gone down. Last time we got stale, smelly chips, when we told the server, he got fresh ones from a different batch. The drinks were very watery. We ordered Cadillac margarita and mojito, both drinks were typed with sugar syrup. The fajita veggies were raw, chicken was hard to chew. They gave some $$off, but thats not what we were looking for...

When you crave some unauthentic chain tex mex food, Chipotle line is too long and taco bell just gave you the runs last week. Your solution chevys = unlimited eat till you puke chips n salsa yum, hand stamped tortillas, gaudy colored and smelling of refried beans. Their margaritas are well priced and fun. Do yourself a favor and stick with the fajita mix it ll feed two aye dios mio!

The quality of food here varies. Sometimes Ive come here and the food is excellent but other times I wonder what happened to it. Portion sizes vary. I wish they kept salmon as a meat option for their fajitas. You can beat their unlimited chips and salsa, as well as their freshly made tortillas. Service is alright but can be better.

Its good food, but I was surprised how expensive it was. I ended up paying $7 for two iced teas during happy hour.... It would have been nice to know - I would have gotten beers instead. Anywway, for 2 fajita meals I shelled out $50 so be aware of that. Food is good though.

Not a whole lot to say here since Chevys is a chain. The food is standard for the franchise, and service was good. Ive eaten here a couple times while visiting the area, and they deliver consistent quality, so I certainly have nothing to complain about.

Bad service, got sad at a bad table when there were plenty available. It was my birthday, and Im not one to flaunt it, I almost wish I did so we could have been sat in a better section. Food was good as normal.

Salsa and chips before you order were delicious. Had enchilada, Chile relleno, and carnitas taco. Everyone in our party of 4 loved their meals. Service was friendly and attentive. They have no breakfast menu.

Extremely loud environment. I was not impressed with the wait staff. It took 30 minutes just to have our waters brought out. That set the tone for the rest of the evening. Incredibly slow and inattentive.

We always come to this location. Service is good, the food too. Love the steak burrito, but the highlight is the chips and salsa. You can even buy a bag for to go; this is my go-to place for chips.

Good food. Fajitas ingredients were good on their own but not very flavorful as a whole. Guacamole was pretty good as well as the salsa. Pork was the best meat by far for the Fajitas.

Relatively consistent. Good service. Good chips and salsa. Quesadilla, very good. Tacos, not fond of the creamy sauce. Bathrooms are slightly below average cleanliness.
