Ive been here twice and left unimpressed both times. The first time I went, everyone loved their food except me so I assumed I just ordered the wrong thing. I had the Napolitana which was Breaded tenderloin steak with tomato sauce, prosciutto cotto, mozzarella cheese, mashed potato, and sauteed vegetables. It was really dry and bland. The meat was pounded so thin, it seemed like there wasnt any meat at all! I went there for a second time this past Tuesday because I wanted to give it another try and my friend was craving steak. He didnt even order steak though lol. What We Ordered - Special for the day, Mollejas: Grilled veal sweetbreads, with mushrooms, potatoes and onions - Special for the day, Seared Ahi Tuna with Mango Salsa, roasted potatoes, and a side salad - Entraña al Chimichurri: Skirt steak with chimichurri sauce, and grilled vegetables The Mollejas was the best thing to me for the night! It was cooked perfectly and had good flavor. I really liked the little crispy potato pieces. My friend enjoyed his Seared Ahi Tuna, especially the roasted potatoes that came with it! My sisters boyfriend ordered the Entraña al Chimichurri last time I came and enjoyed it so I decided to do the same. I ordered it medium rare but, received it medium well. The steak was bland and I had to ask for extra chimichurri sauce on the side to give it more flavor. They dont give you much sauce to begin with, which is fine if the steak was cooked the way I liked at least or had more flavor. The roasted veggies on the side were also just okay. I was not wowed by anything about my dish. Service was a little off as well. When we arrived, no one was there to greet us for a good 2-3 minutes. We just stood there like idiots. Our waitress rarely came by to check on us so it took me awhile to flag her down just to get chimichurri sauce. The manager or owner was nice though and asked if we were enjoying our food right after we received it. Overall experience, for the price you pay, there are far better options in Pasadena. I will not be back. :(

The food was fair and was for a celebratory dinner on a late Friday night, an hour before closing. The Classico Cebiche, although good, was $13 and rendered about a cup. This Cebiche comes sans chips or any other accoutrements.Hot food came quickly, but service thereafter became painfully slow with no offers to check in with regard to additional wine, so the low rating is really based on the service. Everyone appeared truly fatigued & lackluster (apathy?). My dinner of Sorrentinos of round ravioli stuffed with ham, smoked mozzarella, asparagus & mixed mushrooms with pink sauce Flan al Caramelo was fairly priced, about $20, and very good. A greens salad was $13. Another had the Fettuccines Golfo Nuevo, of mixed shell fish seafood pasta, and offered a taste. The sauce was delicious but the scallops were incredibly bitter. About $24. A side order of white polenta with mascarpone was about $8 and dulce de leche for desert about about $7. The Panqueques dulce de Leche was amazing, delicious and sharable, although you may wish to be selfish on his one $10. Unfamiliar with the choice of three Malbecs, I left the decision to the waiter. Bad decision. The glass I had was less than mediocre. I wished to ask which one, but as we didnt see the waiter for so long that I simply forgot to ask. Perhaps Ill go on a weeknight when perhaps folks are refreshed.

Came here for the dineLA menu, and although the food was decent, it definitely wasnt even worth the $50 pre fixe menu, so I cant say that I can see myself coming back here for the regular food. PARKING: Parking isnt that great in this area, I think they do valet if youre willing to spend a little bit of money, but I was able to find street parking. That being said, Green St. is pretty busy so I consider myself lucky, and if I were you, Id definitely plan to spend some time looking for parking and start looking as you get close to the restaurant. SERVICE: I think this is where the restaurant shone and showed the most promise. Although the food wasnt great, the service from all the staff were great. Not only were they polite, but hey were super professional, and I felt very respected despite being one of the younger diners in the restaurant. FOOD: The food really was okay, between my friends and I, we had all the different options on their dineLA dinner menu, and I really cant even remember what we had at this point. None of it was that good or memorable. ATMOSPHERE: The decor of the restaurant was also pretty great. It was a bit dim for my taste, but definitely a great romantic, classy dining experience.

This is the go-to restaurant for great grilled meats and entree salads. Its that great little neighborhood restaurant youve always wanted to find. The cuisine is billed as New Argentinian, and it is - they have the empanadas and other staples of Argentinean cuisine - but in reality, its just great cooking. On visit after visit, they havent disappointed. I often have the entree salads, which are available with juicy grilled chicken, and also with excellent grilled shrimp and perfectly crisped, grilled salmon. The room is large, upscale, welcoming and comfortable. The wait staff is attentive and helpful, always. Prices are slightly higher than neighboring Green Street Restaurant, but this kitchen really knows what to do with meat and seafood. Prices are about the same as Smittys, but its rare to wait here and the room isnt as noisy. Of the two, I find myself returning to Malbec in preference. Its great to have this restaurant in Pasadena. Theres really nothing which offers quite this combination of good food and pleasant, contemporary ambience in dining. Highly recommended.

Went here for the first time on a Thursday evening with two of my girlfriends. We had reservations at 8:30, so it didnt appear to be a busy time as most of the tables were finishing up. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. She made some appetizer recommendations, but I swear she just recited almost every single one. We ended up ordering no appetizers because their dinner portions seemed like they would be enough. We all order the chimichurri skirt steak as our entree and a side of mashed potatoes to share. The steak was delicious! But it definitely needed more chimichurri sauce because I couldnt taste any. Once you spread a healthy portion of that over your steak youre good to go!! We paired dinner with their Malbec wine that our waitress recommended and that was delicious! We ordered dessert as well, which was AMAZING!!! We got the panqueques del dulce de leche. You MUST get this!! It literally was one of the best things Ive ever ate. I would recommend this restaurant and I would go here again.

We had reservations ... but got seated 20 minutes later. Not good. We were offered a seat outside. We refused ... and waited a bit more and then got a seat inside. That said the food is very good. They have lot of wine there. Appetizers are very good. The place is very crowded. The seating encroaches onto the sidewalk which I think is technically illegal (two table widths of encroachment) ... but this has nothing to do with the food. So once again the food is good. The service is good. The place is very very busy. The servers was good, the hostess was nice ... it was the wait that I did not like and the crowd was a bit too much for me. The bread was not so good ... the best bread is served by the The Kitchen on Delacey and Union ... who bake it and bring out hot and piping ... this bread was really wooden ~ they need to work on that. 3 1/2 out 5 stars for me ... Truthfully, I would go there again ... x
