If youve been waiting for a solidly decent Italian meal in Mountain View, La Fontaine is the answer to your prayers. Bread came first, and it was a great start. The olive oil had a nice blend of herbs and spices, surprisingly spicy. The Cobb salad was fresh and vibrant, with sweet fresh tomatoes, crisp lettuce, and perfectly cooked bacon. The angel hair pasta was well-cooked and well-seasoned. I got mine with clams (instead of chicken or shrimp) and they were fresh and meaty. The sauce light yet flavorful. There was enough pasta for 2 meals. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked, with sauce that was super creamy. Drinks were well-made and delicious. Service was casual and delightful. We plan on making this a regular dinner spot.

Really enjoyed the food here, it was nice to have some French/Italian food in downtown Mountian View. We went on a Saturday around 1130am it was not crowded when we went. The complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic was great! I do wish the bread was served warm though, but nonetheless it tasted fresh and had nice spices baked in. We then enjoyed the salmon crustini and their version of a bruschetta which was very tasty! Our main course was the gnocchi and the ceasar salad (no dressing or cheese) and all of it was very fresh and amazing . We would definitely come back and enjoy this restaurant again!

I really enjoyed our dinner at La Fontaine. We had a party of 7 celebrating our friends birthday. We went on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant had plrenty of seating (made a reservation the day before). We ordered the crabcakes and calamari as starters. I thought the starters were good. I ordered the mushroom ravioli for dinner and thought the dish was exceptional. My wife ordered the risotto and she thought the dish lacked flavor. For dessert, we shared the lava cake, creme brulee, and tiramisu. Our party thought all the desserts were excellent. Service was efficient and quick throughout the meal.

The food here was great, but service could have been better. Each of us marveled at the taste of the various dish sauces and passed samples to each other to share. The desserts were excellent. I especially liked the Lava Cake which came with a scoop of the best ice cream Ive ever had, a caramel ice cream that was super. Throughout the service the two hosts seemed to struggle to keep the place under control; I felt their stress. Our bread basket arrived pretty late, after appetizers and just before our entrees and it was hard to flag someone down for parmesan cheese, etc. Overall, Id recommend checking it out.

What a lovely resteraunt! The service was fast, cordial and attentive. The wait staff never seemed to slow down. I ordered the salmon wellington. It was cooked to perfection with saffron risotto on the side including a medley of tasty vegetables. My husband gave me a bite of his branzino (seabass)- seasoned beautifully. He almost didnt want to share because it was so delicious! Weve been here a couple of times and we cant go wrong with ordering any dish. I recommend this restaurant with five stars. The pricing is reasonable with nice atmosphere for all ages. A nice bar to accompany the stylish atmosphere.

A trendy spot for twenty-somethings, not for a thirty-something romantic date. The wait-staff were very inattentive. The space is a bit noisy and crowded, though people-watching from the front window tables was nice. The tomatoes in the caprese were not ripe. The bouillabaisse was tasty with a lot of good seafood, but the prawns were a bit overcooked. The beet salad had only a few small beet slices under a pile of fancy lettuce. The bread was a middle eastern style soft bread with herbs, and not spectacular at that. I expected a crusty bread from a French/Italian fusion restaurant.

Best Seafood Pappardelle ever! I was visiting from overseas and had been referred to this place by a colleague. We arrived as a large group and were made to feel very welcome from the beginning until the end. Overall, a great night with incredible food and service. The best part was the honest waiter (Nick) who pointed out that a service charge had already been charged to my bill and that I didnt need to tip. He then went ahead and removed my tip - I mean how unbelievable is that!

Their brunch is impressively mediocre. The hashbrowns were McDonalds style and came with a side of ketchup, the fruit was unripe, and the tea water was lukewarm. I mentioned the tea water to the waitress as she was bringing out our bread. She apologized and ran back to the kitchen with the bread basket still in her hands, but never returned. All of this would be fine at a cheaper restaurant, but Mountain View has better options.

Excellent food! Had a number of dishes during a dinner event for work. We ordered off the menu and everything was absolutely delicious. Staff was attentive but not disruptive. Kitchen was able to get us all of our entrees at the same time, which is no small feat for a group of our number in a restaurant of this size. Highly recommended... Will absolutely be back.

For the premium prices, I was expecting very good food. They were charging me 33 dollars for pistachio crusted lamb chops after all. Pros: Service. Cons: Very underwhelming food. Lamb chops were bland, the pistachios only added a crunch and nothing else. I can go on and on, but it comes down to not meeting the expectations that the price was setting for me.

Do you like food? Do you like really good food? Then dont eat here. The servers idea of a great wine is JLohr. Octopus is bland and the other pieces of the dish (celery, asparagus) dont work together or do anything to the dish. The steak and duck breast are over cooked - though very well seasoned and the dishes in their entirety are pretty decent.

I have been quite pleased with the food here. They always seem happy to see me and remember my preferred table. They are also willing to cook my vegetables well-done. I have always had good meals here. Sometimes it can get a little loud for my comfort, so I try to eat later when fewer people are there. Their ladies restroom is clean.

Not bad but a bit on the pricier side. However, the staff is extremely welcoming and allowed us to stay past closing time as we were finishing up our dinner meeting (for work). Their beef wellington is pretty good. Salmon wellington was not bad either but I didnt like the sauce too much. The risotto wasnt my favorite however.

This place was a pleasant surprise. I was half expecting a stuck-up French restaurant, but it was much more interesting that that. The service was good, the food was excellent, and we even found a really delicious Cabernet Franc on the wine list, that I wish I were able to find for sale somewhere!

Good Italian gourmet in mountain view downtown. Easy to make a reservation. Nearby CVS provides free parking. I have been there for many times and very friendly staff! Food is very nice especially the sea bass in special menu. If youre lucky to have that special entree, be sure to try it!

Been searching for good brunch within walking distance of downtown MV, and we finally found it! Sunday brunch here is delicious. There are a good mix of choices, from waffles to eggs Benedict, and the portion sizes are very generous. It was surprisingly quiet at 11 on a Sunday.
