There are many fine Sushi restaurants in Fairfield and even some in Vacaville but I have to say that Ohkura is the best in Solano County. First of all the Sashimi is always fresh and of the best quality and there are a variety of Sashimi items that other restaurants do not carry such as Uni. Another thing is that for those who are not into Sashimi or Sushi; you can still enjoy a nice full meal that is cooked such as the Chicken with Tempura. I also like the fact that when dinner is ordered. You get some pickled cucumbers and tasty cabbage to snack on while your dinner is coming. You automatically get Miso soup and a salad that is carefully mixed with just the right amount of Japanese salad dressing. Your dinner is always served with rice and do not forget to try Sake, Sapporo or if you have a sweet tooth; try the Plum wine, it is delicious. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food. And the Sushi Chefs have been there forever and know what they are doing. I think Hisu is more expensive over all and they do not carry certain specialty items that Okura does. In comparison to Yo-Sushi; if you need a quick fix; its ok to go there but their Miso soup does not taste as good as Ohkura and they do not carefully mix in the right amount of salad dressing to the salad and sometimes they do carry some specialty items but Ohkura always comes through..

Ive been going to Okura with my family since it opened, and by Fairfield standards, I think the food is still one of my favorites. Each person in my family orders from the dinner specials each time. These specials are typically your choice of two items on the list, miso soup, and a salad topped with the chefs special miso dressing. While in college, my parents would bring me a container of this dressing. If you like it as much as I did growing up, theyll likely sell you a to go container of it. Well usually order the Monterey Roll, a rainbow roll, and maybe a Parker or other roll as a 3rd if were really hungry. I do not agree with the poster that said that Safeway sushi would be better. Okura is not the highest class of sushi restaurants ever, but its a local family owned restaurant that does a good job with general Japanese cuisine. The owner Michael, his wife, and the sushi chef have been there since day one and they know their regular customers well.

Surprisingly excellent sushi in Fairfield! The sushi is prepared will and with an attention to detail and aesthetics, as well as flavor. The hot food, such as teriyaki and tempura are well made too. Service is always fast and friendly. The only knock would be the decor, which is definitely below-par. But if youre in the neighborhood, its an unexpected treat for the Travis AFB area.

Our favorite Sushi restaurant. We never disappointed every time we go here. If you really love Sushi or Japanese cuisine this is the place to indulge to your appetite. The Sushi chef here is the original since they open. You are getting the real deal. Enjoy and disregard the previous review comparing their Sushi to Safeway.

I dont understand why this place has such good reviews. I ate here recently and had the worst sushi ever. Safeway sushi would rate better than the quality this place serves. Couldnt even finish dinner and walked out. Not fresh at all, DONT GO.

They accommodated us even though they were closing soon. The hours listed online may be out of date. I enjoyed the Orion beer, and fish plate. Staff was welcoming and pleasant. Id recommend it.

By far the worst sushi I have ever had. Just ate here ordered 4 rolls couldnt even get down an entire roll. My wife and I are disgusted. Better off eating sushi out a grocery store. $52 wasted.

Have been going for several years. Based on my experience in Japan this is fairly typical of the local small restraint you would see there. Ive had consistently good food there at Ohkura.

Service was fast, they allways filled my drink before it ever got past half. The squid was cooked perfectly, the sushi was good and not to expensive, will go again.

Weve been coming here for several years and the service is always great and the food is wonderful. Prices are moderate and the restaurant is simple but clean.

Poor service. Slow food and slow service. Water was in a pitcher and not served by the server. Food was bland. No flavor and cold.
