This quaint French restaurant is quite the gem. I came here for dinner with Lapin yesterday. It was fairly easy to make reservations for the time we wanted. The place wasnt packed but it was fairly busy. Our waitresses were attentive but one of them had a weird sense of humor. We ordered a souffle for dessert and on the menu it said the wait time was 20 minutes. We were talking while waiting for our dessert and the waitress said in a very deadpan voice that we will have to wait 2 days for the souffle and walked away while still talking. I am not sure if she was joking or not, but it was a bit odd. Lapin ordered Escargots and he loved it. He loved dipping the warm bread into the leftover garlic sauce. I ordered the Vol Au Vent which was delicious. Lapin even remarked it was the first time he heard me using the word "delicious" to describe a meal. The puff pastry was crispy and cream sauce was rich and went amazingly well with the lettuce the pastry was displayed on. The chicken was soft, tender, and melt in your mouth deliciousness. Lapin ordered Boeuf Bourguignon for his entree. The portion was a smaller than expected but the stew was rich and hearty. The waiter was generous enough to bring extra pieces of bread to soak up all the yummy gravy. I had the pan roasted chicken breast with potato gratin. The chicken was tender but it was a bit bland and underwhelming. The chocolate souffle was good but we both liked the pistachio ice cream that came with it. The pistachio ice cream was sweet and had an understated pistachio taste. Lapin would definitely visit again, even if its just for the escargots and pistachio ice cream.

Rude wait service, mediocre food - My mom and I were in New York for vacation and decided to come here for our last dinner in the city. It was very disappointing. We were the first ones to arrive after the restaurant opened for the day and the waitress was reluctant to give us a particular table in a corner because, "its a very popular table when we get busy around 7pm" and she wanted assurance that we would be finished by 7pm. That should have been our first clue that we should have gone elsewhere because we were the first people to arrive after they opened. We got the table we requested and by the time we left just before 7pm we were 1 of 3 tables that were filled in the restaurant - no one was waiting, there were no other tables - the restaurant was dead. Our meal felt rushed and our waitress had no interest in serving us. The food was OK, but the wait service was disappointing. I will not go back. There are better french restaurants with better service in New York. Enjoy a good french meal elsewhere.

Its really ok , nothing special , service is ok , price ok , food would grate as a American French , had a salad nothing special , clams in the white wine sauce – better in Belgium restaurant , foie gras canned and its not mentioned in the menu. Onion tart ok ,but probably prepared by vendor bakery and can be purchased for .99 cents , why go to French restaurant . Overall ok for a quick lunch ,but if you want a good French food experience stay away .

Truly magical experience! FOOD, WINES & SERVICES are outstanding! Great energy and ambiance through out! I had family dinners for 10, casual lunch or drinks at the bar with friends... I trusted that place to go on a date and worked out perfect :) I LOVE DEUX AMIS ~ YUMMY

Dined here on Friday night. Thought the name deux amis was very cute! Lively atmosphere. Service was ok. Food was ok. Appetizer was shrimp and mushroom cream vol au vent. This was alright. The main was duck legs and salad. Disappointing. It was very, very bland.

Charming neighborhood French cafe. I love the atmosphere which conjures up places Ive visited in Paris and Brussels. Very good food. Wish they had a little more seafood. Their mussels and pommes frites are a real treat! I love this place!

We happened on this tiny French bistro and were pleasantly surprised by the food and especially the friendly, professional service. Not a destination, but the very best kind of neighborhood restaurant.

A nice, quiet, neighbourhood spot (next to my home). If you like French, Deux Amis is one of the better ones. The owner is almost always on-premise, and hes a delight to talk to.

Great food. Reasonable prices. Still thinking about how tasty the food was the day after eating dinner there. Every dish was delicious. Lovely decor. Id go back.

A quiet out of the way place. Only had a glass of wine and the crepes which were great. Not sure about the rest of the menu.
