To start with, I consider myself an easy person to please. I rate places 4 to 5 star that others might rate 3 or less. I try to see the things that are important and ignore the things that arent. Broadway did not impress. Any 2 of the things that went wrong I would have overlooked (had their only been 2 issues) but you stack 9 problems on top of each other and I give a bad review. 1. Had to wait at the door for a seat. The could have offered to seat me at the bar (which had 6+ open sets) 2. The glass of orange juice had butter on the outside. Makes me wonder how clean the inside was. 3. Water did not ask me how I wanted my potatoes (I ordered steak an eggs which comes with potatoes) 4. The water did not come with ice. I personally dont care but its unprofessional. 5. The food. When it came, I was not impressed with how they just threw it on the plate. The steak was very unevenly cooked, I assume it was because the grill was to hot. It was also tasteless and did not come with a bottle of steak sauce. It also seemed low quality. 6. The eggs and potatoes were also tasteless. The potatoes were sloppily cooked. 7. The price seemed a little high then if I had gotten good food. 8. I placed my debit card on top of the bill and about 20 minutes later the waiter stopped by my table to tell me it was cash only. 9. When I actually went to the register to pay in cash, they gave me 3 dollars less change back then they should have and I had to ask for the difference.

I hope the owners read this review as Id really like to recommend this diner. Except for one foreman in the mornings, this is a friendly place with good prices and excellent food. The foremans attitude is really what made me write this review. Hes so damn uptight and snaps at his lovely staff all the time. Seeing his staff getting scolded by him really ruins the nice morning atmosphere. For example this morning I asked him if we could get the change after we got the check from our waitress and I didnt see her around to ask her directly. He yelled her name across the diner, threw a towel on the floor violently and shook his head as she rushed back to us. That was totally unnecessary and embarrassing to his lovely and hard working waitress, like the dozens of other snaps we witnessed.

i recently moved into the neighborhood and always noticed this place was packed for breakfast. i wanted to try it so i called in an order to pick up rather than wait for a table or delivery. i ordered 2 eggs over easy with french fries and whole wheat toast. the guy on the phone read it back to me and when i picked it up, i confirmed what was ordered once again just in case they handed me someone elses order. when i got home i saw that what i got was 2 eggs over really hard with french fries and white bread. i didnt take it back because it wasnt the biggest deal and it probably wasnt worth the hassle of going back there and getting it made over. it all tasted great but the lesson i learned is to check the order before i walk out the door.

Stomach-churinging conditions. When I went here (2014), I found it to be the filthiest, grimiest, most run-down establishment in the city. Everything from the caked-up slimy mayo and dressing bottles, to the patched up booths with tape and glue peeling away. The railings had grime a penny thick, and the floor looked like a playground after the Fourth of July. The windows were cloudy with schmutz. The food was not very good. I have absolutely no idea how this restaurant not only continues to exist but somehow garners a rating higher than the best diners in the city. I suspect some shadiness, for this place to dodge the health department, and find happy customers to post. Dont go even if youre blind.

My husband and I eat here every single weekend. Its become our weekend breakfast place after stumbling upon it one weekend. I usually order the French toast with bacon, but Ive also had the omelets, home fries and pancakes. Everything Ive eaten is pretty much awesome diner food. The bacon is some of the best youll have in your life. You even get a tiny orange juice with your breakfast. The place is small, so weekends can be crowded, but usually the wait isnt too bad. I recommend Broadway Restaurant whole heartedly to anyone looking for an amazing diner experience.

Echoing philipst really; Tony is a true gent. Visited NYC from Manchester, UK in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Each year, he remembered me, and my family who came with me, and where I was from and a whole bunch of other stuff. He really is the nicest guy, and the food is absolutely delicious - a perfect way to start your days of sightseeing. Eggs over sunny, the orange juice, the whole staff, friendly and charming - real American service and sincerity. I miss the place, I really do :-)

This place is a NYC institution! You feel transported to a different time in this classic diner. My advice would be to skip dinner but go for the breakfast. There may be a wait but sit at the counter to avoid it (and gain quick service) the food is standard diner fare but the atmosphere is great, so retro and classic. Plus you see a true cross section of New Yorkers. People from all walks of life dine here. You cant beat the price either.

Fabian Lupidi: Great American and Greek food. Incredible pies! Cheap. Best for breakfast! Its the tipical American rest of the 50, with this atmosphere!! Its the restaurant that appears in the film "Meet Joe Black" where Brad Pitt meets the girl at the begining of the film. My best wishes to Tony & Angelo from the guy from Argentina!

This place is disgusting and Ive never been back. Went there with my family for breakfast and spotted a huge water bug on the ceiling directly above our table. I was sitting at the edge of my seat afraid that it was going to fall at any moment on our table. Lost my appetite and did not finish the meal. Havent been back since.

stopped in to have a brunch with my family. Rosa our waitress was friendly and efficient. the coffee was delish. its a Dinner and a typical new York one.my daughter had a Belgium waffle with pure maple syrup I had the housemade veggie burger which was very good but very fulling. nice local place.

Awesome breakfast, excellent service, and inexpensive. I indulge in the omelet with pastrami, mushrooms, onions, and cheese. Girlfriend had the banana pancakes. Both were excellent. Service was friendly and very attentive.
