Well, the wife, kids and I ate at Chix today (22MAR14 around noon) and I am writing this review because I am very displeased. Bottom line, ALL FOOD OVERCOOKED AND HAIR IN FOOD!! I ordered the surf and turf (or whatever its called) tacos at the waitresses recommendation, they were about $12 and the menu made them sound extremely appetizing, something about PRIME beef or what not, what did I get? Beef that was not prepared well whatsoever, even crappy cuts can be cooked to taste amazing and be tender, but mine were OVERCOOKED, CHEWY AND FULL OF GRISTLE, I literally could not digest some of it (I spit 4 or 5 bites out on the plate) Shrimp was SEVERELY OVERDONE, chewy, STILL HAD BITS OF SHELL on a few and were caked in a blackish, not-tasty residue. Included in my tacos was freshly sliced cabbage (was it supposed to be cooked Idk) and some diced tomato on top of 2 tortillas (from a bag, think mission brand, still room temp.) ..Oh and there was some shredded mozzarella (think kind from store in that comes in a bag) sprinkled around, but not melted or appetizing. My plate also came with tortilla chips from a bag and salsa from a jar that again, was not appetizing whatsoever.. On to the wife/kids order, We have a one and two year old and my wife wasnt very hungry so she ordered them the "chicken nuggets" appetizer and it actually came out looking great. They call them chicken nuggets, but it was actually two full chicken breasts sliced into 4 pieces and they are more like LARGE chicken strips. the breading looked beautiful and I started to get jealous until I realized they were HARD AS A FRIGGIN ROCK! O.k. maybe not a rock, but just soft enough to still be edible, so we had to break them up into TINY pieces and peel all the breading for the kids to eat them, even for my wife to eat them and they still gagged a couple times going down.. and THEN MY WIFE DISCOVERED A 3-INCH (or so) REDISH BROWN HAIR IN THE BATTER!!! Service was.. ah, okay, nothing to complain about compared to the food. I got a little nit-picky here ladies and gents, but only because the experience was AWFUL!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY FOLKS!! My family sure wont make the mistake of eating there again.. and Its a shame because my wife and I ate their the day we first met and it could be a romantic/sentimental place for us :( Staff/Managers/Owners, I really hope you get your guys act together, because your joint really could be the shiz! ..oh, and took about THIRTY MINUTES AFTER ORDERING to get our food and it was BY NO MEANS BUSY, I wouldnt have minded this fact alone if the food would have been decent.

This restaurant is simply wonderful. Let me tell you why. The valet parking suggested to us a close parking spot with free parking and when it was full we came back and he gave us free parking. Then after being seated outside right away with wonderful classic pop songs playing(not this new terrible pop crap like Desiigners "Panda") I was waited on right away with water in front of me and friendly service courtesy of Braden. He was attentive and the food came out in 10 minutes for a party of 4. Ive waited longer at McDonalds. All four of us gave high praises of our food. Steamed crab legs fell out of the shell and were fresh and delicious. Fish tacos came with a delicious sauce and the burger was grilled perfectly and looked like a work of art. The burger looked like the burgers in commercials. The fries were good to the point that I didnt need ketchup. Lets just say the four of us didnt play Pokémon Go for the 40 minutes while we were eating. I think the amount of food is worth the price but mostly due to how good it was. 5 out 5 would dine again. Ive had some terrible experiences with beach restaurants. This restores my hope. Do note that its their job to try and make you buy food so be ready to say no to them offering you extra items. Bar experience? No idea cuz Im 20, maybe next year. But it seems like its a nice environment. And lastly for everyone who plays poké go there are two stops in range while dining.

Stopped in here with three adults and four children on 9-16-2012. We expected that during the off season that restaurants would not be crowded and service would be quick. We walked in and found just that, but not for the reasons we thought. The service took forever, from trying to find a hostess to be seated, to waiting and waiting for the waitress to appear and then reappear a long time later. Other patrons seemed to also experience the same thing. A tip for any restaurant owner, when you see people with kids ALWAYS be prompt with service as the kids usually dont last long. When the food came, the kids chicken tenders were extremely bland. The kids pizza looked like a grocery store freezer isle cardboard box pizza that was microwaved. The grilled cheese was soaked with butter. Come on...how can anyone mess up those three items!!! The adult meals were not much better. To top it off, when the bill came, they added 18% tip for our part size. For what, I dont know. All I can figure is that the past positive reviews must have been left over from the old restaurant that Chix has now become. I will never recommend this place to anyone and certainly suggest that you just keep on walking past this place on the boardwalk.

My family has dined at this place when we visit the area for probably over 20 years, even back before it was Chix. Tonight, our server was fantastic (Nick). The food was even great. The reason Ive rated it lower is because the hostesses were completely disorganized. There were two. The one that seated us was very kind and we were actually seated almost immediately. But no sooner than we sat down, the other hostess came up and essentially accused us of stealing the table (taking it without hostess permission) - she said that it was reserved. We attempted to explain that the other hostess seated us there, but she wouldnt listen and assumed we were lying. She said, "there are only two hostesses" - we explained that, yes, and the other one seated us there. The other girl ultimately came over and they worked it out, but it was disheartening. We were moved to another table. The other issue I had was that the place was extremely loud. Of all the times weve been there, its never been loud like that. Had it not been for the server being so personable, we would had probably left and went elsewhere.

We had the great misfortune to decide on an early dinner after a day at the beach and should have left after the surly hostess told us we had to wait 15 minutes while the tables were being cleared. We stood with our two kids and looked at the 5 cleared empty tables until we were finally seated at one of the empty tables. It was all down-hill from there. The surly waitress seemed clueless about the menu but nothing she could have said would have helped the slop that was served up. I had raw oysters on the half-shell that defined minuscule portions. The shells were there but little else. My wife had charred tuna bites and my daughter ordered a refreshing egg-cup of milk for $3.50! The entrees of fried crap-cakes and roasted ma hi were inedible. The vegetables were stewed beyond taste. The kids had Pizza. One left a crust behind. My wife and I pounced hungrily on it. We left paying over $100 for a thoroughly disastrous meal which prompted me to write my first review ever.
