Horrible. Came there with family from out of town and was hoping to treat them to a great dinner. There were problems from the moment we sat down. Took forever to get drinks (which were not made well). They were out of everything. They were down to one bathroom. They were down to one fryer. Every time we were told something would be right out, it would be another 20 minutes. It took us an hour and 10 minutes just to get hush puppies???? Our meal took over an hour and a half and didnt even come out at the same time. Usually 10 minutes apart. The last person to get food was my 5 year old...a grilled cheese. Seriously...get it together. This place has so much potential but its being wasted. This is coming from someone who worked in restaurants for a very long time. I have seen it all. It was awful. One of my top 3 worst experiences.

My family and I were visiting Jamestown settlement for the day. A nice lady in the gift shop mentioned a free ferry that took you from Jamestown to Surry...so we gave it a try. Found the Surry Seafood Co. and decided to eat there. Our experience was wonderful! We did not have reservations (which they recommend...esp. on Friday and Saturday evenings)...so we had a bit of a wait...but it was worth it! The food was delicious! (We had fish and chips, lobster mac and cheese, crab dip, and stuffed mushrooms.) They also had a kids menu that my kids really enjoyed! The staff there was great and very helpful... quick on their feet and very accommodating! Also, beautiful scenery on the water! Very peaceful. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth a try! We definitely plan to go back!

Cannot rate food as we never got seated. Restaurant is nice looking though small once inside. We had a reservation. There was one couple ahead of us and a large group of 16+. The hostess (at least assume she was the hostess). Told the couple that she needed to clean a table. Came back and got them. She then went to a table that was already seated and took orders. By this time weve been waiting 10 minutes. One of the waitresses told us the other woman would be right with us. We saw her and thought she was coming to seat us, but instead starting entering orders on computer at bar. We waited in whole 20 minutes and only one staff person spoke to us. I crossed out our reservation in the book and we left.

The food was great. I was accompanied by my Auntie and sister and we tried Stuffed Shrimp, fried catfish, hot wings, scallops and more. The food was fresh and fast. Our server Will was so nice and attentive. He brought our food out timely and correctly. It taste like the food came right out if the water! We are planning to have a group date soon! The water view is beautiful outside. My only suggestion, is to have some type of lighting outside for the tables. We had to move inside because we couldnt see our food anymore. Just get some major insect repellant and you should be alright. We had a great time and the food was impressive. The prices even more impressive!

Stay away! Should have known this was going to be a long night when I stopped in the restroom en route to our table and the mens room was out of soap and paper towels. Drinks took 20 mins. Appetizers took 70 mins to come out (hush puppies and fried pickles). Entrees took an hour and a half --- and they didnt even come out all at once. One even came in a to go box because it was so late. To top it off, they were out of potatoes and the ladies room was completely flooded out. I half expected a turd to come floating by our table. It probably would have been moving faster than our appetizers.

For anyone that wants to try Surry Seafood Company. Dont waste your time or money. The seafood platter I had, had zero seasoning on it. My wife ordered the coconut shrimp and had to de vein 6 of the 8 pieces of shrimp she had and they forgot part of her order. The seafood nachos were made with fried puff pastry instead of tortilla chips. Service was terrible. The waitress left dirty appetizer plates on our table for the entire meal. Walked by our table at least 5 times and didnt stop to refill my empty glass of tea. Was not impressed and will not be going back.

Vacationing in Williamsburg and looking for places with outdoor seating on the water and were surprised to only find The Surry Seafood Co. So we took a chance and could not have been happier. Took the ferry over which was great fun, quick and just a short drive to the marina. Most restaurants in a marina I have been to are dumps, but this is top-notch. Sat out on the deck and watched the fishing boats bring in fresh catch to the restaurant. Hands down the best seafood ever!!!! We a just mad that we live three hours away, but it is almost worth the drive!

Well worth the drive today from Chuckatuck to The Surry Seafood Company! Fried flounder and fried scallops were delicious and cooked just right. Sides of cole slaw, onion rings and sweet potato fries were equally delicious. Sat outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and the scenery of Grays Creek. Service was excellent. The cook staff and wait staff have had experience with another restaurant in New Kent. They are even expanding the kitchen and adding four suites for overnight guests!

What an unexpected treat! I discovered the free ferry boat and thought my young grandson would enjoy the experience so off we went. We happened onto this place for lunch, right on the water. The food was great! I had fish tacos, which were fantastic, and he had macaroni and cheeses bites ( battered and deep fried triangles of basic Mac and cheese). We loved the peaceful atmosphere as well as the food. It was reasonably priced as well. What more could you ask for!

I brought my wife and kids to Surry Seafood on a Saturday night and we had a great meal. The atmosphere and view is fantastic. There was good live music. The place stayed packed and they were even able to change our reservation to an inside table when the weather was threatening. The service was SUPER attentive and our food was delivered right when expected. The menu is huge and prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be going back.

Flounder sandwich, portions could have been larger, less batter and the mayo could have been a side. I would like to see all sandwiches served on quality rolls/ bread made from quality ingrediants. The french fries looked mangled, dried as if they had been hanging around for a while and cold and the skin was still on parts of the skinny fries. Best thing, the environment was scenic and away from hustle and bustle world.

We ordered to go. We ordered 3 Mushroom Swiss burgers and 1extra order of French fries. What we got was 3 Cheddar with mushrooms (not on the menu!)burgers, no extra order of fries. The cheddar cheese was burned around the edges and the mushrooms were skimpy. We have eaten here many times and ordered to go before and loved it, especially the Mushroom Swiss burger. Sadly disappointed...
