My fiance and I went in a few weeks ago for my birthday lunch as we were out and about. It wasnt busy at all, it was a Saturday we got there about lunch time. There was no one at the front area to seat us so we waited a few minutes for someone to come along and get us a table. That wasnt the thing that bothered me. As we were waiting for our food one of the waitress, who quite honestly walked around and acted like she ran the place, yelled across the restaurant to another employee whose name was Brian to not walk in front of a guest as it was unprofessional....I didnt actually see Brian do anything but the fact that the waitress felt the need to yell across the restaurant at another employee In my head is way more unprofessional and a disruption to people who are at the restaurant. I dont care if you own the place you never tell at an employee in front of customers, you wait until you are alone and discuss an issue. It really put a bad taste in my mouth for how this employee seemed to think she was in the right for doing that and we couldnt wait to get out of there afterwards.

I ate at this location tonight and the service was ok but the brisket was fatty, slimy and greasy. That being said I should note that Ive had bbq all over the place, from Kansas City, to Texas to North Carolina (and lots of places in between) and I love all types of bbq prepared in all different ways. Its either well prepared or its not; this was NOT. On top of the lackluster brisket, which the manager asked me about because I ate less than half of the tiny portion they serve (another minor flaw), the server gave me the silent treatment after the mgr talked to me. I had no intention of complaining but when asked specifically I told him I thought it was a bit fatty (which was as nice as I could be). I suppose the server took it personally and the service went from ok to non-existent. I rarely take the time to review a restaurant, but this one was especially disappointing because I also rarely allow myself to indulge in a high fat/high calorie meal. Even mediocre would have done the trick tonight, but I wasnt even that lucky!

Nice atmosphere good beer IPA selections, and got the choose three to try as many meats as possible. Couldnt finish it all as the servings were very generous. I travel a lot and have been to some of the best bbq places in the country and this place ranks with those. The pulled pork, brisket and sausage were delicious. The wait staff as a whole were very attentive and my guy Thomas was awesome! . I put a lot of attention on this since there were so many negative reviews. Im guessing the bad reviews were either from people that just had a bad experience which can happen or just come on a crazy busy night and expect 20 minute in and out service. . I will be back as I travel often to the territory. Nicely done Smokey Bones.

Traveling on business for two nights, I was later than expected to my Roanoke hotel. I stopped into the Smokey Bones restaurant to eat a late dinner. The staff was welcoming, polite and courteous. The food was uncommonly flavorful. The store manager, Miko, made a point to engage in conversation with me, not the company line was your food ok? The bartender, Cheyenne was a champion. She was enjoyable to talk with and as a business owner, apparent to me that she is a fine employee. I returned for a similar experience my second night in town and highly recommend the restaurant.

Its not often you have really bad barbecue but I had really bad barbecue here. Couldnt tell if I was supposed to eat the chicken or resole my shoes with it. I tried the 1/3 chicken and the grilled chicken breast both were dried out and nasty. I asked for steamed broccoli lightly steamed it looks like they started boiling it yesterday or the day before just total mush. Told the waiter I was not happy with my meal he said sorry and walked away. If youve ever driven by Lowes or Home Depot and seen a barbecue out front youve probably had better barbecue than this place.

We eat at Smokey Bones frequently and love it but every time we order takeout we have a problem. Last night my husband and I decided to order the family feast and take it to my Moms for dinner tonight. We called in the order about 9:00 last night and told them we would pick it up at 5:45 today. We arrived promptly at 5:45 and was told they had no record of the order. We then had to wait until they prepared the order. I wish I could say this was an isolated case but unfortunately it was not. I am basing my rating on take out orders, not eat in visits.

Got a good amount of food for the money, and this is the only place I know of that gives actual chicken legs on the kids menu. My wife had the pulled pork, and LOVED it, I had the NY Strip (MR) with red wine sauce and button mushrooms. Salt and peppery, coupled with the creamy cole slaw (that we both loved) was a great pair. Finished the dish with Fire Roasted Corn with full-bodied smokey flavor! Great service (thanks Dude Shannon!) and really fun atmosphere! The "Boneisms" are hilarious and many of them made the post to Tue FB wall. Great time!

I have been to Smokey Bones a few times since they opened, and I cant say I am super impressed. Most of my visits have resulted in something being wrong with my order, or just bad service in general. Despite this, the restaurant has some upsides, for sure. I really enjoy most of the food I have ordered there, and fell in love with their cheese fries. I wasnt impressed with the wings, or ribs, but they werent terrible. All in all, I would say Smokey Bones is worth visiting to see for yourself. Food: 4/5 Service: 3/5

Got a hankerin for some good and smokey chicken wings? This is the place. This review is based solely on my one and only visit where I only had the smoked wings. I will be back. When you first walk in, there is the unmistakable aroma of smokey goodness in the air. The atmosphere pairs well with the smells. Rustic and comfortable. The wings and their choice of sauces were great and the staff was friendly. When a beer and wings will only hit the spot, Smokey Bones will be the place I go when Im back around that area. YUM!

Ive been here twice. The 2nd time will be my last. The first time I experienced the bar with decent waitstaff. The 2nd time our waiter was rude. Im in an interracial relationship and I dont appreciate being ignored when asked about how our food was. He didnt even make eye contact! The food was overpriced for the quality. My tacos had a big puddle of water beneath them. Who wants soggy tacos? My partners burger was very bland. I will not be recommending them.
