One thing I have observed as a frequent traveler is that coffee makes people happy. At the Charlotte Hotel, there was no in-room coffee, and in the morning at 8:05am there was no coffee available in the lobby or restaurant, either. I dont know why an innkeeper would make it so difficult to get coffee! Such a simple gesture. I arrived at the Charlotte on the Tuesday after Memorial Day 2016. The building and its decor are very attractive. I needed dinner. At the restaurant there were two dining rooms: a dark one with no windows, and a larger dining room with many windows, tons of natural light, and better furnishings. Oddly, only the darker room was open for business, due to low demand. There was a party of four eating in that room, but the space seemed uninviting to me, so I sat at the small bar and had a delicious filet mignon platter. The food was very good and my bill was about $45 including a beer. As I went up to my room, I spoke to the woman at the restaurant who said breakfast will begin at 8am the next morning, and coffee would be available earlier than 8am in the hotel lobby. I retired to my room. While not spacious, the room was very attractive and well-equipped. The shower was especially nice, and the bathroom had upscale fixtures. In the morning I waited for breakfast. Eight oclock is late for a hotel breakfast to begin. At 8:00 I was in the lobby looking for coffee. However, the entire restaurant area was closed off with a gate, there was no coffee waiting, and no staff was on duty. I was all alone, and I think I was the only hotel guest that day. So at 8:05 I walked across the street to a cute cafe and enjoyed my breakfast and coffee there. Returning to the hotel, the proprietor was sitting at the front desk and he apologized, saying he had arrived at 8:10. When I checked out of the hotel, he gave me some money off my bill, saying he bought me breakfast, and apologized again. I originally booked the room for $140 and with the discount it came to $128. Its interesting to note that during my 5-day road trip I stayed in cheaper motels such as Super 8 and Comfort Inn, on the interstates, except for this night when I decided to splurge to stay in a nicer inn located in the heart a charming little town. Well, my experience at the nicer inn left a lot to be desired, and a key need for a traveler -- coffee -- was not met. Super 8 gives me coffee.

We are part-time residents of Onancock and decided to eat at the Charlotte Hotel. We were greeted by A waitress who was less then friendly. My wife and I ordered the exact same thing that we did one week prior. My wifes fillet was cooked to the right temperature and was tender, but not mine. When I brought the matter to the attention of the waitress, she stood there for a minute in disbelief as in how can your wifes be good and yours not. She was flat out rude. She did however ask if I wanted another one, but based on her attitude, we couldnt wait to leave. I must say that this is the first time in my life that I had not tipped a waitress. This was simply due to her poor attitude and blatant disrespect of a patron. I would rate it zero stars, however you have to select at least one star to post the review.

We stayed there in November 2010, and will come back again this year in November 2011. A beautiful little town, doesnt get more Eastern Shore than this. We arrived late and they provided us with the finest gourmet dinner and most relaxing, warm southern room to make our brief stay a most delightful experience. There were a few local bars within walking distance, all were crowded and full of the excitement for the autumnal weekend. Great people, fantastic owners who are very concerned about the upkeep and quality of what they provide. I wish we had more time to stay. Worth the few minute ride off of 13. Its a gem.

We stayed here for a night on our honeymoon and want to go back sometime before our first anniversary! We happened upon it and knew we had to stay once we walked in. Once we got settled in, we went downstairs and had a couple of drinks while hearing and telling stories with the owner who was the barkeep as well! We then had an awesome dinner at their restaurant and I had fish that was caught just hours before! What a cool place! I really want to get back there soon!

The Charlotte Hotel is absolutely charming it truly is a little piece of heaven in a far away place. They have something so wonderful from the service to the amazing food...to the extremely comfortable beds! I am proud to say that I will be going back there soon to visit, and I literally cannot wait!

We live nearby, so cant comment on the Hotel per se, but for the past 5 years or so, when we dine locally this is the place we almost always go. The dining room is congenial, the service is excellent, the menu is varied, the food is excellently prepared and the wine list is quite good.

I walked in, it was Memorial Day, there were 4-5 cars outside, I walked in and rang the bell, no one answered, I could hear people upstairs walking around, I yelled hello is anyone here, but got no response. I waited about 15 minutes but no one showed, so I left.

The food was ok, but I will admit I was expecting more in the area of taste. Good location for serving a small town.

Within range of a portal and a pokestop. Has a country B&B feel but on the 3rd floor of a delicious restaurant.
