It wasnt the amazing buffet I remembered from my childhood (the sundae station only had chocolate and caramel sauces, and nuts and chocolate chips), but it was acceptable. Our steaks were cooked pretty close to as ordered-the thicker sirloins my friends got were perfectly rare, while my thinner ribeye was a little past rare, but not enough to bother sending it back. Beware tho, their "butter" is actually a margarine/butter mix, tho any given server might tell you its butter. Ours did, but then when I asked if she was sure, because it didnt taste right to me, said shed go check, and came back to report it was_not_pure butter. Also, the side order mushrooms were *terrible*. I dunno what they were cooked in, but they were so salty I couldnt eat mine, and they were horribly greasy. Fried chicken was good, as were the baked potatoes, and everything else we got off the buffet was good or at least fine. Overall, Golden Corral is cheaper, their sirloin is just as good (tho they dont have steaks besides sirloin), and they have more options on their buffet. The one thing I might pick Ponderosa over Golden Corral for is the drinks. As of Dec 2016, they have strawberry and blackberry syrups, which they can add to any soda. My strawberry pepsi was *delicious*. The check for 3 of us, 2 sirloins and a ribeye, buffet for everyone, a side of mushrooms each, and a drink each, was around $65 after tax, before tip. The ladies room was perfectly clean.

Me and my family stopped here in passing and it has probably been the worst place ive ever been to. The tables were sticky and the bathroom was wet everywhere. While in the middle of a conversation our waitress just walked off. It took forever for us to get our food. If I had I had to choose between having to eat there again to go on my vacation of continue driving to our vacation point, I would drive home and skip my vacation just so I wouldnt have to eat the so called "food" they are serving. There is probably more flavor in the asphalt of the parking lot. I feel like I need to go to the nearest hospital to get my stomach pumped.

We ate there yesterday. Our server was very sweet and attentive. My problem with our visit was with the manager. He had a lady come in for an application. Before he even gave her the application he asked her if she had children. Once she explained that she had adequate child care only then did he tell her she could have an application. He should not have asked her that in the first place but also should not have her personal questions in front of customers. My biggest problem was the roach my husband killed on the seat next to us. My family will not be back there.

My experiences here always seem to turn out "just okay". Basically depending on your taste buds obviously, the food selections can be either very tasty or just bland or just plain nasty. I have experienced all 3 of these on my trips here. But overall in my opinion they are ok. I would only recommend you eat here at least one time for yourself to get a feel of how your tongue will react to their food. They are a franchise and this particular location is the only one in the entire state of Virginia. They have another Ponderosa but its somewhere in West Virginia. Enjoy!

I would never knowingly eat a dog but I fear that today I may have inadvertently ate a dog. The meat was horrible. I wont ever return. The place was thilthy, tables were sticky even after I asked them to clean mine again. The A1 sauce was 57 sauce in an a1 bottle and so on and so on...the only reason I stayed was because I am in a large vehicle with limited access to parking. Never will I ever go to any Ponderosa again. 20 mins later now and I may have to go eat some horse crap so I can taste something better in my mouth than that steak.

The food was good. The waitress was outstanding. My refills came with out asking or having to wait. The reason they dont earn a 5 star rating is based on the following. A black waitress mad fun of a young white waitress to a group of black ladies. That was not appropriate what so ever. The mens room smelled as bad as any middle eastern gas station Ive had the displeasure of going into. The overwhelming smell of urine was disgusting. The booth table was sticky. Nothing worse than a sticky table. Take a wet cloth to it.

Stopped here traveling. Cleanliness of the bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Needs some updating badly. The table was sticky and filmy, as were the condiments on the table making it a lackluster experience. The food selection was terrible...the only good choice was chicken. 75% of the buffet were vegetables. Not much of a main course choice, especially with a child. Between the food and the disgusting hygiene of the establishment, I would not recommend it.

Visited Ponderosa on today but was disappointed that I could not be served. According to their posted hours, the store open at 7:00 a.m., the OPEN light was lite and the doors were unlocked. I entered and stood waiting for someone to take my order. Finally, a worker came over and informed me that the restaurant did not open until 11:00 am. I noticed on Google Review the hours are posted 7:00 am - 9:00. Ponderosa what are your hours?

AS OTHERS DESCRIBE TABLE WAS STICKY. I ORDERED TILAPIA BASED ON PICTURE AS YOU COME IN WHICH SHOWS 2 PIECES OF FISH. MY DINNER ONLY HAD 1 PIECE OF FISH. FALSE ADVERTISING. MY WIFE ORDERED THE RIB ENTREE. THERE WAS NO MEAT ON THE DAMN BONE !!! FOR REAL. DEFINITELY DO NOT ORDER THE RIB ENTREE. WAITRESS SAID THIS IS LAST PONDEROSA STILL OPEN IN VIRGINIA. I WILL NEVER ENTER ANOTHER PONDEROSA EVER.

Avoid this nightmare at all costs. Ponderosa used to be a good place to get a steak and other stuff. The staff all hide in a booth in a corner while you try to eat the hunk of gristle they refer to as a steak. Dont drive past the very decent Cracker Barrel to get here.

The worst establishment in Ashland. Rudest owner Ive ever encountered. Blamed me and my family for our food being burnt food and didnt want to apologise for his mistakes. DO NOT EAT THERE EVER. I WOULD OF RATED 0 IF I HAD THE OPTION.

One of those restaurants that you go to once, just to try it. Meat just as chewy as can be. Banana pudding is watered down. Best food there is anything you can microwave for a minute and its done.

Not bad. My sirloin was a little tough. Salad bar was ok. Service was good. Had some good wings. Chocolate cake was dry. Havent been in a Ponderosa for years. Nice nostalgia trip.

The food is delicious for the price you pay, and the service is definitely wonderful. However, I would not advise using the restrooms as they definitely do need some taking care of.

Great food for the money. We dont have a Ponderosa any more, back people would rather wait in a long line for a $9 burger. Oh, well. I love stopping in when I am in the area.
