We enjoyed our meal here. We arrived at 10:30ish on Friday morning and they were still in the throws of the breakfast rush. The host gave us a wait time of 30-35. 10 minutes later she offered us two seats at the bar which had been rejected by another small party on the list ahead of us. The service was friendly. I ordered the smoked salmon club. When it arrived in was disappointed to see such a small quantity of salmon (lox), probably around 2 Oz. After I took a bite I realized that the smokiness was more than strong enough to stand up to the lettuce, tomato, onion and bread! My husband had eggs with chorizo served in corn tortillas. He thought the chorizo was a little bland but overall he liked his meal. We really enjoyed the quality of the food and the creative menue!

BEST place in Burlington for REAL home made food! Never have had a bad meal here, the "spuds" are STELLAR! But try everything, you wont be disappointed! Waitstaff is friendly, professional and always welcoming! Prices are modest: NOT cheap, NOT expensive. Quality is right up there, even the jams are homemade, so dont complain! Also its well worth the wait to get in, as I notice other reviewers have commented on the long lines and the noise. Theres a small upstairs dining area, its NOT as noisy up there and more private. Both breakfast and lunch fare are superb! Thanks Penny Cluse!

Pennys has some of the best breakfast/comfort food in town. It is a small place and during peak times you may have to wait, but it is generally worth it. My wife and I ate here for breakfast two days in row during our stay. The bucket of spuds is always great! Coming from farther south we are used to biscuits and gravy that usually come with a sausage gravy. At Pennys they have an herb gravy on their biscuits that is completely different than what we are used to but amazing nonetheless. If you live in town or are just visiting, give them a shot. You wont be disappointed!!

The staff are very friendly. The food was delicious and healthier than what Im used to getting at a brunch place - which is a good thing! My partner and I both ordered specials. I had the corned beef hash and expected to feel some level of regret at having eaten it all, but it had a heap of veggies mixed in to keep it all balanced. My partner ordered the blueberry cornbread French toast, finished it, and says that it was nice and light. This isnt your typical oily brunch joint. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good breakfast!

Great quality! Great portions! Great staff! Weve frequented here several times and they have proven to be the most consistently safe in serving my partner-who has severe Celiac Disease-and I. Each time weve visited the staff has demonstrated patience and understanding to ensure she was able to enjoy her meal without worry or getting sick. When the food arrives its aesthetic, aromatic, and always delicious! For those who want to try the best breakfast in town come in and make a reservation. Youll be glad you did!

Service was rude and pushy. They act like they are too busy to give you optimal service, and they dont care because of how busy they are. This was how my waitress was today. The food was just decent- when I think breakfast sausage I dont consider as sausage right off of the hotdog stand on church street a breakfast sausage. Overall decent food, but never going there again, because the service is not worth the wait.

If you are looking for the best breakfast place in burlington look no further!!!! The food is fresh and the flavors are amazing!!! The cornbread French toast!? Holy s**t. The potato hash!? I could eat an entire bucket. The fruit plates are always high quality and beautiful. And the coffee is amazing and always flowing. The staff are knowledgeable, kind, and efficient. LOVE this place. Must try if in burlington.

The most popular breakfast spot in downtown Burlington, which means nothing the food & service are top notch AND its crowded. The best time to go is mid-week and after breakfast if you want peace and quiet. But, who wants that? The morning rush us just that, but includes excellent food and a talented staff. Very highly recommended!!

My husband and I dined here for breakfast on the morning of our wedding. The food was very good and the service was good. I gave four stars because our server (I cannot remember his name) had no personality at all and we found it a bit awkward. Other than that, Penny Cluse is wonderful and we will definitely be back!

I ordered the corned beef hash special, it was tasty, but not what I was expecting. It was almost like a boiled corned beef and cabbage dinner turned into hash form. In hindsight i might have ordered the biscuits and gravy that seems to be well received. The coffee and service were good, so Ill definitely back!

The chorizo egg tacos with a side if black beans is my go to brunch here. The fruit dish is a MUST try. The home fries are different than normal home fries, so I suggest asking about them ahead. The Id normally a wait of 15-45 minutes if you go between 11:00 and 1:00, so call ahead to check.

Excellent cafe with a nice variety of brunch and lunch options. Great specials. The gingerbread pancakes are one of my faves. I had the huevos rancheros from their special menu and it was great. Hearty portions. Good coffee. Very popular and busy. As a tourist, I quite appreciated this place.

Not a bad place to stop for lunch/breakfast. There was quite a wait as the seating is limited so try to time it accordingly. Luckily there are shopping options down the street while you wait for a table. The food was very good and the service was great. Prices were very reasonable as well.

Good things come to those who wait!. My favorite breakfast spot in the area. Id be here much more often if it werent for the long wait times for a table. No RSVPs is why I dont give it 5 stars. They do serve coffee to those who wait (However, I think coffee on an empty stomach is gross.).

Eclectic menu with Vegetarian-friendly options (marinated tofu, tofu scram, gingerbread pancakes! tex-mex, funky salads, brunchy stuff but also homey breakfast foods.). Friendly staff, hoppin place with locals, bright and airy vibe. Great place to eat while stopping through Burlington!

This place has amazing food but its always extremely busy unless you go at the perfect time. Its a little cramped even with the room. Its a very diner. Im not sure how many times Ive tried to get into this place and the wait times were just ridiculous.

Got off to a bad start because of the long line. Expectations grew from that point. Had the basic- bacon and eggs with home fries. Nothing special here, was hoping for more flavor with the home fries. Nothing was bad, its just not worth the wait for me

Friendly, fast service. Lively without being crazy crowded. (We got there early. Im thinking you should get there early.) The food was tasty, the coffee was good, we were in and out in an hour without feeling rushed at all. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Disappointed. Over-rated and not worth the wait. Didnt enjoy the coffee, pancakes w banana didnt have enough banana. My friends left their French Toast alone after one bite. Bacon was great though. :) Id rather hit Henrys diner nearby.
