Great Texas Home Cooking! Im talking real BBQ - rib meat that falls off the bone, brisket that had that nice smoke ring, and seasoned sausage. The chicken fried steak is huge! About the size of a vinyl record and the gravy is home made deliciousness. Its a quaint and homey building, regular diner chairs and tables with mismatched table covers. This is Texas hospitality and cooking at its best. Fernando himself caters to each customer, remembers his patrons, and is very welcoming. This place is worth a stop because its the definition of a "small-town-good-food-diner". The prices are very low considering the quantity and quality of food that you recieve.

I go to Fernandos regularly. Tonight my husband and I ordered the Talapia plate that was listed on the wall as $6.75. When we got to the cash register to pay, it was $8.99 per plate since we had ordered GRILLED. There was no reference to difference in prices of grilled or fried. and we were not told of this when we ordered. We had previously gotten grilled there and had not been charged the additional. So be careful of what you order. Like his food but not the price charged without being told as it was posted on the wall as a special.

Went in at about 1:30 on a Tuesday was treated badly by the waitress probably because I came in close to closing time. Ordered the BBQ plate with brisket and pork ribs, the meat was fatty and I was sick all that night and half of the next day. I would not recommend, just skip this place and go to the DQ half a block away.

The food here is awesome and I have not had anything here I didnt love. Its small and quaint, but it is home-cooked food at great prices. The chicken fried steak cant be beat, and they have some wonderful steak specials and to-die-for enchiladas!!
