Mixed Bag at Caffe Medici - long time customer WONT BE BACK. First off, the coffee is DELICIOUS...but product isnt enough.... With tons of awesome coffee shops and roasters in town, its gotta be more than just a nice cup of joe. The thing that turned me from a fan to "never going back" the attitude from snarling barrister girl on my recent visit (probably my 20th this year). Heres what happened: When she was taking my order for a soy latte, (the same thing I order every time), she was on the phone and not paying much attention. When she started making my drink I looked over and saw her using regular milk. I gently waved at her to try to get her attention so she wouldnt have to redo the drink and she waved me off telling me shed be with me in a second. I waited and then she got off the phone. I said, "Im sorry thats supposed to be soy..." Her response, and this blew me away, "You need to tell me that when you order..." STUNNED... Really lady? Wow, so not only were you not paying attention to me when I was ordering but then when I tried to correct you, you blew me off and THEN told me I needed to do something differently because youre incompetent? Hmmm,.. THEN... it got nasty. She takes the milk from the steel steamer and pours it back into the milk jug (TOTAL CROSS CONTAMINATION) I watched, grossed out and wanting to simply leave in disgust. So, as much as I like the yummy coffee I wont be back to this shop, Im happy to vote with my dollars somewhere where Im not treated this way and where its safe to consume non-contaminated product.

Good coffee, but the service is not good. It was the 3rd time I went there, usually theres a cashier and a barista, this time the cashier wasnt there, so I turned to the barista and asked: excuse me, I would like a latte with caramel. He was washing a mug, on hearing me, he turned his head and looked at me, without saying anything. I thought he only made coffee and wasnt responsible for ordering coffee, so I said: sorry, but there used to be another person... He didnt listen at all but showed me a frown with impatience: OK. Then he continued washing the mug, finished, and walked to the POS machine, saying slowly: usually customers wait, just be cool, OK? I said: sorry, but there used to be another person here, and shes not here, so I just asked you... He didnt reply to my explanation, instead, he said: five twenty...

I love Caffe Medici because I consistently get the best cappuccino! After reading about their flat white-esque cappuccino in Bon Appetit, I decided to drop by and it is the best cappuccino Ive had outside of Italy! It is cozy for a cold, rainy day and perfect for a gorgeous Sunday afternoon of people watching. Its tucked away in a quiet, but energetic part of Austin, which means parking is a little tight during busy times. Treat yoself to their raspberry croissant, but of course leave one for me! Have brunch at Zocalos or a romantic dinner at Cipollina and then walk to Caffe Medici to start or end things off right!

For anyone walking to class from west campus and able to avoid the chain coffee shops lures, Medici has the most authentic coffee on the drag. You go here to get espresso not a mocha mint frappacappucino. With two stories, Cafe Medici has much more room for seating than other places on the drags. Unfortunately, the seats are made out of some kind of steel and are not very comfortable to sit in for hours studying. And there is a shortage of plugs so make sure your computer is fully charged before heading here. Come here for the coffee, not to study for an extended period of time.

The coffee is always delicious and the atmosphere very studious and relaxed. Their parking lot is pretty small, but its well worth it if you can find a spot. The staff have always been very kind plus they serve you coffee in actual mugs, not flimsy cardboard containers! The amount of coffee is no joke either. You really get what you pay for and what youre getting are delicious drinks filled to the brim. Seating can also be pretty tough so be prepared to wander around for a couple of minutes looking for a free chair to open up.

Here it is the first cafe medici! This place is booming and for good reason because their coffee is off the CHAIN!!! They first started at West Lynn and now have two other locations on The Drag and on S. Congress. What is great about each location is that they each offer a different atmospheres. Also the quality coffee is outstanding! Coming out of West Austin they serve from a roasting company called Cuvee. Its delicious and the complexity of their espresso hits your taste buds like a kiss hits your heart.

The mocha here is unstoppable. Chocolate sauce made in-house takes it to the right place, iced or hot. Espresso is outstanding, but my preference is toward a slightly lighter roasts. Cappucinos are typically fantastic. The specialty drinks done for Medici Notte were fantastic, and Im sad that they wont be doing that any more, but the seasonal drinks theyre concocting will hopefully continue where Medici Notte left off.

Relatively expensive, but amazing coffee. They do french press instead of a drip and the quality is up there! The baristas know their stuff. The downtown and campus locations also have some nice beers on tap, 2-3 dollars per pint happy hour. This location though it does not tote a draft, has the best vibe of the three Medicis in my opinion. Noice.

Although they have two new locations, I am always partial to their original. Their atmosphere is work/study-heaven: quiet music playing, not too cold not to warm, and a snug size to make you feel at home. Their coffee and food (I.e. Homemade sandwiches!) are superb and worth the pricier pay. The staff are the most chill and friendly around.

Has become my go to coffee shop. Always the same great baristas. They changed roaster from Cuvée to Spyhouse a year or so ago and have been consistently good ever since. Carpark is full at peak times but theres a street behind that always has somewhere to park. Great place to go at night for some study/work before it closes at 10.

They make REALLY GOOD coffee. If you like having a strong smell of espresso floating above your mug, this is the place! Although parking and seating might be a head ache and a half, it is well worth the trip here to relax on a Sunday afternoon. Grab a book, a cup of coffee and sit outside on one of the stone tables.

The parking lot is tiny. Even if you do get a parking spot, somehow there will be nowhere to sit. The tables are two tops, with one person on each. Coffee is ok. Serve TacoDeli in the mornings, and a decent snack collection with allergy friendly options. Usually almost out of everything by evening. Friendly staff.

The baristas are kind of snobby. I *accidentally* used a Starbucks term and I thought someone was going to chop my head off. This location is usually crowded, its not very big so seating is limited anyway. Its overpriced too. Just o to Starbucks where you can be accepted for who you are- including your mistakes

Simply the best cappuccino in town. Instantly addictive. The coffee roast they use is full of complex flavor with no bitterness. They have mastered the art of steamed milk with a magical, velvety and creamy texture, poured with care so as it blends perfectly with the espresso. A delight of taste and texture.
