My issue with Hy-vee is the management. Before I get into details with that, let me just say that the ground employees always do a wonderful job. Although, if theyre in a bad mood, they dont really try to hide it. Other then that, they always make your visit go fairly smoothly! As for the management, I have a very big issue on that... After High School, I was looking for a job. When I applied for an interview, I thought I had a chance. However, I went into the interview with the intention of being honest. That was obviously a mistake. I told them about my asbergers (An extremely mild form of autism), and from that point onwards, the woman interviewing me started talking to me like I was incompetent, and was being just plain rude. Gave me some nasty glances to go with it as well. After that, she wouldnt continue with the interview, and told me shed contact me within a week. Four months later, and Ive heard absolutely nothing... To summarize, the employees you will encounter the most do their job very well when it comes to making your visit be trouble free. The management however, can be very discriminatory and rude if they dont like anything about you. (I have also heard numerous other stories about employees being discriminated against, so Im not writing this review off my own accounts. I believe there is more than enough evidence to prove what I said)

I had the grand buffet on 8-31-2014 at 5:45 pm. The cheeseburger (after the girl at the counter had to ask if the burger came with a bun) was good, but the vegetables where over cooked asparagus was cooked dry. The runza was served raw!! The deli girl didnt know the difference between potato salad and chicken salad. All the food looked like it was siting there for several hours under a heat lamp with no concern for freshness! BAD EXPERIENCE I expected better from a store that has a chef and one the whose primary business is selling food!

They have on site chinese food. Also have restaurant in house but also ready to eat salad bar that is lovely. This store also does in house bakery with many specialty breads rolls cakes and pastries. They also have a butcher counter and a seafood case. They brag of a chef however having tried some of her dishes I say beware the chef is particular to spicy food. Hy-Vee also has an in house pharmacy and a liquor store. A mini post office film developing and movie rentals and florist shop with delivery of flowers to business and residential.

I visit this HyVee regularly and its a typical store. Like the other places I visit in Yankton, Im there weekly after a drive from Sioux Falls. Buying lunch or a snack. Their produce is nice and usually a good variety. I often purchase from the "health market" area, and they have a nice selection there also. This store looses stars with me for cleanliness because their bathrooms are dirty and the drinking fountain is just the nastiest thing. That pink lipstick has been on it for a year (or someone who wears that shade is sucking on it).

Pretty good quality and selection. I occasionally wish they carried a broader selection of goods, but its decent. Ive been happy with all of the generic and brand name products Ive bought. The staff are really really friendly. Like, its definitely awkward how friendly three of them have been, but I guess its better than them being rude.

Employees are the nicest and most helpful people youll meet. Prices are good. Produce quality is excellent, even for things out of season. A great varity of premade meals. Awesome buffet (breakfast is just great). Meat department cuts the meat. A great and growing gluten free selection. Such a great place to have in town.
