It was definitely an experience.. A positive experience? no, but an experience, none the less. NOBODY was there yet the staff was not thrilled when we walked in. It seemed as though we were a burden to them. When we walked in, the entire staff was sitting at a table eating pringles. Sour cream and onion pringles to be exact. We had to ask to be seated and then they wouldnt accept our coupon that we got from their website. When we asked why, the waiter repeated "Mondays. Mondays" Which made no sense, seeing as though the coupon was good for sunday through thursday and it was a wednesday. WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO WITH MONDAY?! They also dont have hardshell beef tacos on the menu. When we ordered fajitas, they barely gave any sour cream so we asked for extra. We were blessed with an entire container of sour cream and then charged an extremely high amount for it.. Still, I would return for the stories that I am sure will follow. Overall, slow service and rude staff, but decent food.

Nothin. Wrong with cheap Mexican food for lunch here! If you want to leave with a full stomach and a heavy wallet this may be the place for you. That being said I wouldnt classify this as high end dining. The service is always superb and the food is always hot but the flavors are standard for Mexican food and dont stand out against some of my more memorable meals. Now dont get me wrong, I love to come to this place and I dont think Ive ever left even thinking about wanting food for several hours! If you want something cheap with generous portions, friendly service and a clean environment I can recommend El Tapatio, but if you are looking for something to appease a food snob you may want to search a bit further!

I have eaten here probably 6 times. I usually get a burrito. Food is always good, and the service is good also. Not the "absolute best" Mexican restaurant I have ever been to, but it is good. I like the tortilla chips they serve before the meal, the seats are comfortable, the restaurant is not too loud. I dont get the people who are so negative about this spot. It has always been good to me, and I will continue to eat there.

Absolutely delicious! I love going here with my mother and trying new options (pick anything, you can never go wrong). The portions are huge and two people can easily share one plate. Usually we choose a soup (which is also a large bowl) and a meal to to share and were so full and satisfied we have to take a to go box home.The staff is friendly and attentive too. Authentic food, authentic music, and a great time!

We have been eating here for about 7 years. After living in Phoenix for 31 years I need good Mexican food. We live in Westerly and drive here to eat Mexican food because it is authentic and they serve generous portions for both lunch and dinner. Not quite as spicy as we like but very flavorful. Try the combination plates!

Luv it and yes it is hard to find real authentic mexican food and it rocks unlike Titos in newport who us beans from a can and they call themselves authentic think the need to visit this place. I come from a town who had authentic mexican food and i missed it so much until i found this place.

The fajitas were the worst we have ever eaten! The chicken wasnt hot so they brought some more out that was hot but didnt have much taste. The steak was gritty and tasted awful. The waiter was friendly but that was the ONLY good thing I can say about this place. Would not recommend at all!!

AWFUL The waiter was extremely rude, and 1/2 way through the meal, insisted that we pay, because he wanted to leave. I wouldnt waste my time going back again. There are too many other Mexican Restaurants with Good food, and Great service, this is not one !

How anyone can rate this place more than 1 star is beyond me. The wait staff and hostess were very friendly. The food was terrible. I would never go back. I suppose its a good place to hang out and drink. Just dont eat. Trust me on this. Its awful.

As good as youll get in RI for Mexican, this isnt Texas after all. The food is fresh, authentic and tasty served in a clean and friendly environment at reasonable prices. If you want better Mexican, you probably need to get closer to Mexico.

I travel a lot and get Mexican food all over the US. This place is legit. Authentic feel/food, good service, warm tortilla chips... Greeted with a hello and left to a "have a nice day".... I would highly recommend the Huevos Rancheros.

Needed a last minute dinner when passing through town. Decided to make a stop at El Tapatio. So glad to did! Great, quick Mexican! Everyone in the family enjoyed their dinner. Food came super fast and prices were great!

Mexican food is not rocket science - these folks miss the mark by a mile. Ive eaten there four times (meet up with friends), and have been disappointed every time. Go to Agaves for a much better experience.

Quintessential Mexican-American fare, you will not be surprised by anything you eat here, it is as it should be. Burritos are large, food is flavorful, a bowl of salsa for each person.
