i have eaten here for the last 20 years and its one of the few places that every state office building had a giant sign tacked to the wall but they are coming down now because they dont deserve that place of honor and respect any more im sad to say that the food and service are not what it was under the new manager who refuses to take a customer call my meat was sour and i think the ingredients are of less quality too. they now run out of sub rolls and tell you its because business is better--why dont you just order more rolls..you never USED to run out but that was before and this is the new sandwich man

So the Sandwich Man does growler fills but only their own growler. To me, this makes no sense when their growlers are so terrible (twist off top instead of traditional swing top). The beer goes flat after a few hours with a twist off. Anyone who sells or fills growlers has made a commitment to serving better beer - clearly Sandwich Man has not caught on to this mentality. Until they decide to fill any growler I will not be back to Sandwich Man for anything. There are better places for hoagies in the city anyway - 2nd Street Pizza just down the street makes a fantastic Ham and Cheese Grinder.

I will give it to them.. they have good food.. but the service is just flat out slow. I used to walk in and order but it takes about 30 min. to get food there during the week (around lunch time).. So I started calling in and picking up.. Still a 10 min wait (at least).. Today I called ahead; waited 30 min and still stood there for 30 min. waiting.. Update: I ordered before 11am today and it was ready in a snap..

At first I thought I was getting ripped off as the sub was served open. When I closed it and saw a substantial amount of meat, I approved. Good stuff. A wee bit pricier than I would expect but still a good sandwich.
