It definitely makes me sad to write this review because I love the concept of the Movie Tavern. My wife and I have gone to the Movie Tavern 6 times over the past year and a half and each visit has consisted of multiple issues. After this past visit we have finally decided to give up and not come back. Below are a list of issues that would need to be corrected before we returned. - Food is way overpriced for the quality, improve quality and Im happy to pay more. Which brings me to my next point... - Food is terrible quality. Chicken fingers look like they have been ripped apart before they are fried and come out rock hard on the outside and chewy on the inside. Food always comes out cold (imagine eating cold nachos... its disgusting). Pizza looks and tastes like a frozen pizza that was bought from the dollar store.. Im not expecting a 5 star meal, but you could at least serve up some Applebees or at best, Dennys quality food.. - The service.... ohhhhh the service... Servers have always been pleasant to us, but I dont understand why they cant have the food come out at the same time, with the correct dipping sauces, delivered to the correct person?? Every time we have come here, I will get my food, and anywhere between 15 - 45 minutes later my wife will get hers. Also, if the food is supposed to come with a dipping sauce or ketchup, it NEVER actually comes out with the food. You need to ask the food runner for it, and then they come back (God knows how much later) with maybe one of the things you asked for. Why am I telling the server when I order my food that I want the sauce, if it wont actually be brought out with me food (or brought out at all).... My next point... What is the point of having the numbers on the seats if the food/drink runners dont look at them?? I cant tell you how many times Ive had someone try to drop a drink or food off at my seat that I didnt order, only to find out the person a few seats down from me ordered it. This is insanely annoying and is very distracting while trying to enjoy a movie. So bottom line, food is realllllllllly really sub-par and I probably wouldnt order it again even if the prices were slashed, and there are some serious service issues that need to get worked out. I worked at a busy restaurant chain all through my college days, and these type of issues would not fly at any successful restaurant. ****Update: Manager reached out to me to talk about my experience and stated that they are bringing in their executive chef to take a look at their menu and will discuss the service issues with their team as well. Im updating the star rating for the customer service provided by the manager and will be giving them one more shot.

This is an excellent movie theater. Driving outside of Philly offers you the opportunity to enjoy a movie without being amongst the common ghetto trash that Philadelphia has to offer. The movie theater itself exceeded my expectations across the board. You can order your food right from your seat. The prices are very reasonable as if you were at TGI Fridays or Apple Bees. I had the Bruschetta Flatbread. It was really good and served with an insane cucumber sauce. I also had the club wrap which was ok but, its served cold. However, dipping it in the cucumber sauce from the Bruschetta made it better but, I wouldnt order it again. The WILD THING smoothy is a must have. The theater offers you ample leg room so you wont have to worry about the person behind you kicking your chair or saying excuse me to go to the restroom. If you want a movie theater to go to without Philadelphia hood rats smoking weed, this is it. The comfortable seats with built in tables was a plus, not to mention the call button for anything else you would like to order during the show. I highly recommend that you book online and show up no later than a half hour before your show starts to get good seats. People do show up to this theater really early. Ten minutes early is too late. Dinner and a movie in the same location without breaking the bank is the setting for a great evening. We saw Django, and it has too much use of the N word. The use of the word was over the top even for that time period. Quentin Tarantino appears to be obsessed with the N word. Pick another movie and stop supporting him. His overboard use of the N word was very distasteful to me. I can imagine what people of color think about it.

A very cool concept tempered by sub-par food. While the cost of the tickets is cheaper than many theaters, especially matinee, the overpriced food is usually disappointing. The Movie Tavern is a resturaunt and bar + full food service theater that allows patrons to order food, drinks, and snacks or dessert at the push of a button while sitting in their chairs. You should arrive 30 minutes prior to the start time of the movie so you can sit in your assigned seating (you can pick your seats online) where your server will come and explain the menu and how to order, etc. Each leather seat tilts back slightly and has a tray table and cup holder. The menu seems to get progressively more mundane - taking off the better quality and more complex menu items and substituting them with cheaper fare. Ive been to this location 6 times now, and only twice did the food meet my expectations - the boneless wings and the keilbasa with au gratin potatoes (both no longer on the menu!). The servers are generally very friendly and helpful, but I have had a few issues with an incorrect check. When they are very busy, expect delays and confusion in the food service; wrong/missing items, food and drinks brough to the wrong seat, and delays in getting your food out. One additional note, the sound and picture quality of the theaters is very good, so that is a plus. The rows are spaced well so the coming and going of the waitstaff is not too distracting.

I will rate my first experience at the Movie Tavern partially as if what had happened me, didnt happen. My boyfriend and I bought our tickets and chose great seats online for the Movie Tavern the night before all excited to finally take the 1.5 hour trip to see South Paw. When we got there, we swiped our credit card at the convenient self check in machine (or enter in your confirmation number) and it didnt recognize us. We went to the front desk and they tried to search for our email in the system, but it was not coming up. The staff pinned it on us like it was our fault as we were struggling to find signal to bring up the email on our phones with the confirmation number. As a result we ended up paying an extra $20 for tickets and also we had to sit in the first row on the corner! We were very uncomfortable with our seats because sitting in the front row gives me a headache, so I prefer to sit in the back. Our seats that we bought were given to some other people. Our food was delicious and it came quite fast, however, we couldve beat the crowd of everyone trying to order at once if we didnt have an issue because we got there 30 mins prior to the movie and we finally sat down about 5 mins before the movie. Sad. However, if this all did not happen...I would say the Movie Tavern is beautiful and I recommend it. Remember that confirmation number in case it cant find you by your card if you prepaid.
