Now, I just want to start off by saying that I was skeptical; I mean, who wouldnt be? Ever since I was young, my grandmother would always talk very highly of the Grand East Buffet. Us being a patriarchical family, my grandfather would always have to step in to correct her speaking out of line. When she passed, we were devastated. But, we knew it was for the best (she had constantly been struggling on and off with cancer; a beast who knows no bounds). Still though, there was an incompleteness that we all mutually shared, even on Dereks side. We all knew one thing...we needed to experience the Grand East. The journey was a little more than strenuous. We traveled for about 3 months, although google highly recommended other methods of transportation. On foot, we crossed the Delaware border at high noon. A man can feel a lot of different emotions in just 3 months. As we approached the GE, none of us knew what to expect. Everything seemed quiet; a little too quiet. We entered the establishment, and naturally I walked up to the counter to be seated. I was wrong. A lady came in hot from the left and motioned that we follow her, making me feel like the idiot that I was. Strike one. We were seated. The booth was very nice, the seats comfortable. The amount of leg room was insufferable, but more on that later. We went up to get our food as the waitresses welcomed us with their smiles. One woman didnt smile back. Looking back, Im unsure if she actually worked there, as she had three kids with her and was also sitting and eating. God works in mysterious ways, afterall. Strike two. I hadnt eaten for 2 months, so I was literally starving. So many different choices to choose from; did I want the boneless ribs? Or did I want the Chinese donuts with their seductive glaze? Theyve tempted me one two many times back in Oregon. Even with all of the choices, I felt a heavy presence in the room. I knew what I needed to do, and thats exactly why I came alone. I made my way over to the desserts, grabbed a single plate, and grabbed a single piece of Flan. Strike three. I come back to my seat, and sit down. The family of three stared horrified and confused at my presence. The same woman from earlier wore a look of disgust that complimented her brown eyes. This was not my seat. I sit down at my seat and grab my fork. Right off the bat, I could tell that minimum thought had gone into the presentation of this Flan. It didnt scream my name the way I liked my other Flans to do. Nonetheless, I continued. My fork slid right through it like a hot knife through a cold summery day. I raised the piece of Flan up to my mouth, hands quivering at the thought of my grandmothers last words; "Tom Hanks is so overrated." Strike two. When I say that this Flan could double as a 4 star omelet I really mean it. The taste of eggs were so strong, and it mightve been the single most awful thing thats ever happened to me. Even the Flan shell was terrible, and Im pretty sure it made me question my sexuality. I remembered my grandmothers last words and repeated them under my breath; "Tom Hanks is overrated." At this point, the woman I was sitting next two got up out of her seats and gathered her children; she had had enough with my tomfoolery. Overall, it was a great experience. The service was questioning and the Flan was horrid. All I know, is that this will NOT be my last time coming here. 5/5 would recommend.

Deff. Came in because I was starven. Ive eaten here before n was OK for a buffet price. Nothing special. No king Buffet or crab legs n had some time to kill. So, as i came in i wasnt greated at all but, i waited a few for someone. Ill say this Deff NOT FRIENDLY . I peeked in to see how much the buffet was. She said, rate now? I replied, Yes. She then said well its 2:50. We have lunch buffet till 3:00 only. I continue to ask again how much ?.she said rate now 7:50 but u have 10 min. At this point Im confused. I said OK well if I sit down its much she said 11.99 now. We only have lunch buffet for 100 more min. Note: she yelled it to me. I wasnt sure basically if I sat down I would have been either able to eat for 10 more min. Or I quod have been charged to eat a half filled buffet for 11.99. Smh. I said i was gona eat but u gave me an attitude. I walked out n an older couple seemed to be approaching i wanted to fallow. But i just said, if your hear for the buffet good luck u have 10 min. Lol. The man replied well we only want sushi. As I overlooked the menu outside. Then 2 min later they came out the man looked at me n said they need a change he of addatuide. Well sadly Im not eating I could care less about price. Though she would have gotten a tip. . Smh. No customer service.

This to me is one of the best Chinese buffets I have been to. $8 for lunch buffet all you can eat, the selection is huge, it has a sushi bar that is replenished constantly with both cooked and uncooked options. Instead of just typical fried food that is vegetable oil ridden, they also have a steamed section. There is plenty of a barrier between people and the food so I feel safe from contamination. They have things I havent seen at Chinese buffets before, such as rice puff pastries, and the various steamed foods. It doesnt have *everything*, but it has a lot, and many different things. This is closer to what actual Chinese people eat then the stuff us Americans have artificially created over decades. I cant expect more for the money I am paying, some people have said the service has been rude, but I havent experienced that. I imagine if you are rude at first they may be rude to you, but you probably deserve it if you think you can come in for a lunch buffet and act like you are at an expensive restaurant.

Pros: This is my favorite buffet to head to around here. The food is always hot and quickly replenished, with a good to excellent variety. My favorites are crab legs, crab rangoons and boneless ribs. My friends who like sushi always say the sushi bar is good; its obviously clean and fresh. This place is very child friendly; I havent had a waitress in years who didnt smile and play with my kids a little. The take-out here is fantastic, the servings are HUGE (Like 3 meals huge, and Im not a tiny eater....) Cons are few. I agree the staff (the men especially) can be a little mechanical. I dont think theyre rude; they work quickly and quietly. Its been getting a little run down looking, especially the bathroom/ back hallway area/ ceiling. Its clean, just isnt looking like a nice restaurant too much any more.

My compliants about this place is not pricing, although it is priced higher than other Chinese buffet in Delaware. The reasons why I ask you to stay away from this place are: 1) The food is not fresh especially their sushi and salad bar, caused me to have upset stomach after the meal. Stay away! 2) The owners of this place are very rude and instead of admitting of a problem and improving for the future, they will augue with their customers, rather than been nice when caught in the wrong. 3) The quality of their food is bad, basically greasy food, and a bad misrepresentation of Chinese cousine. Anyway, spend a little more and avoid a ER visit.
