Ringside has really made a name for themselves offering a top notch steakhouse rivalling Gauchos, a high end seafood specialty rivaling Davenport and Roe and this slightly more moderately priced grill offering a little of both. The building itself is a little boring. Very old design, feels renovated. Open, lots of glass and plenty of light making the golf course scenery a bit of the focal point. Trying so hard to have the lodge/ steakhouse feel when I was told it was a former steakhouse. Ringside east , but it’s a little breezy and to me not posh enough for the price point now. I liked the copper hood. Service is excellent. I definitely felt like I was treated well. Like I’m a long time club member at a golf course with political sway. I hoped for more white table cloth experience considering I had to make reservations and paid $200 for dinner and drinks, this is half the experience of the Burnside location with a slight discount in price. The shining star here is the HH menu being 7 days a week 3-6 and 9 to close. 4 chef’s choice oysters for 6. Thought I’ve heard due to availability some people don’t get a variety, still fresh and well plated with a proper mignonette. Salt & pepper wings are nothing like the SD famous MSG kind. Meatballs are super rich with pork and veal mixed with beef. I wish they were larger and served with a ragu and crusty bread. Deviled eggs are good, but the smoked salmon or pork belly take it to the next level. Needs more heat though, maybe thai peppers. $4 french dip has a bomb au jus and fresh horseradish. Lunch has a more light weight menu than dinner with burgers and sandwiches. It was a little strange to see the flatbread of the day have a market value meaning it involved likely a seafood, seafood flat bread did not sound appetizing actually. Grilled cheese needed more refinement in the cheese mix and when using sourdough not so much char is needed on the grilling part. San Marzano tomato soup is thick and rich, excellent. Dinner is the real wallet buster. Only some of their steaks are prime? For real? If you fancy yourself a steakhouse or former steakhouse I expect prime and white tablecloths. Sorry. Superb twice baked potato. Was not a fan of the butter glaze on my dry aged new York. Excellent, very beefy flavor, as rare as I wanted it. I wanted more refined sides and found them blaze. Your best bet to skip lunch and come for HH and stay to dinner to try 1 item and keep the meal alive versus, dinner drinks and a reservation on an empty stomach. Decent drinks, full bar, but don’t ask for anything with more than 2 ingredients where both are not liquor and soda. It’s a mediocre restaurant that makes you wish you spent the extra dough and gone to the flagship steakhouse. This place will have you feeling as gloomy as the weather when you leave here.

My husband, a friend and I all went for steaks and drinks at the Ringside Grill which has had a lot of hype about the newly renovated location. I had heard that Ringside is one of the best steakhouses in Portland and read several good reviews. We had expected that the prices would be more high-end but the food would be also. Our friend ordered a 6oz filet minion $30 and my husband ordered the 14oz rib eye $43, and I ordered a 10oz filet minion for $42. The steak comes with a choice of garlic mash potatoes, fries or twice baked potato. The meal does NOT include soup or salad. There is no included bread basket, not that it is expected, but some steakhouses do offer it. When the steaks came to the table they placed the wrong steak in front of me and we could barely tell the difference between the 10oz and the 6oz and I guess the wait staff was having a hard time telling also. The portions of the plates were shocking for the price. It was ONLY a small portion of meat and potatoes, no veggies, no bread. (Remember there was nothing else prior to the meal either.) The steaks were so small...the 6oz steak was smaller than a hockey puck and the 10oz one was about the size of a hockey puck. Which all that said, the steaks were good but not great and not one was cooked as we asked. Though maybe they mixed them up since there was a bit of confusion at our table when they brought them as they could not tell which was the 6oz and which was the 10oz. The table next to us ordered burgers $13 and they looked like sliders with few fries. The service was poor. I was not drinking but my husband had to ask the waitress every time he wanted another drink. At $9 dollars a drink you would expect she could have made a bit more if she would have asked him if he would like another drink. He was annoyed that he had to keep waving her down for another. I dont usually write reviews but I figured maybe I could save someone who maybe curious as I was some money. It certainly is not worth the price.

My husband and I live in Lakewood and we went down to Portland for our friends Bachelor and Bachelorette party we get there to the restaurant at 9:50 pm we get to a table and the hell start from there there was 7 of us we all order our food at the same time and everybody get their food expect my husband and I and we wait and wait and wait I order a French dip on the happy hour menu and my husband order chicken legs off the happy hour menu. So 20 mins go by havent seen a our waitress, get ignored by several different waitress and waiter so after a little bit goes I get my French dip which was 3/4 of a French dip and my husband was still waiting on his food so another 20 mins goes by and our waitress starts to clear off the table taking our dishes while my husband has no food still so I go and ask to speak to a manager and he comes out and I explain what happen and he told me that the happy hour menu is different from the regular menu and they come out randomly and then he told me that they ran out of chicken and they found some chicken and the waiter took it to the wrong table. No-one told us anything so he asked my husband what would like to eat my husband said nothing he said that he would buy my husband a beer for waiting haha thats so funny my husband never got that beer he took the beer that my husband had already drank off my bill along with his chicken and we never got carded when we went to the bar. This was the worse restaurant I have ever been to in Portland and the first I will never eat there again I was still hunger when I left and I am diabetic my blood sugar was 72 when I got my food I was 189 when I check it before I enter the restaurant.. just dont waste your time. My husband and I drove 3 hours to be ignored and hungry and have to pay for it

We have been disappointed in what used to be our favorite Happy Hour! Since the remodel, the service has been awful and the menu lacks appeal. I realize that change is good, I could overlook the poor menu, if the service made up for it. Last night, we skipped Happy Hour and went into the bar for dinner. It took quite awhile to get our order placed. We ordered onion rings as our appetizer. It took awhile to get them. Once we did, they did not disappoint! They were awesome! Thank You for not messing with that item! However, we were barely finished eating our first ring when our dinner plates arrived! I like to enjoy my appetizer before Im served my main meal. For the prices on this menu, I want to savor all my bites, not feel rushed to eat my dinner before it gets cold! I ordered the Chicken Bacon Flatbread.... no tomatoes. It came fully loaded with the red demons. Fine, Ill pick them off. After taking my first bite, I was pretty irritated that it was cold. That makes 3 strikes. Im not sure if the waiter heard my request for no tomatoes due to the noise level in the restaurant. It is horrible! If a restaurant wants to charge 5star prices, give 5star service! My family and friends are loyal to service. You cannot put a price on that.
