In general Im a huge fan of Publix so I was really excited when they opened this location near me. Unfortunately this particular location fell significantly short of my expectations. The store itself is beautiful, theyve really upped their game to compete with the Whole Foods across the street, but aside from that I am not a fan. Whoever designed this particular layout should lose their job, what a disaster. Because thats the biggest problem with this store is that it makes it extremely inconvenient to shop there. They chose a terrible location that is on two busy roads with a major intersection and traffic light just on the corner. The result is that its very difficult to turn into and very difficult to get out of unless you choose a dead time of the day maybe. Secondly, the only way to get from the parking deck on the ground floor to the grocery store on the 2nd floor is to take one of the four slowest elevators in the free world. Ive been on elevators that shoot up 70 floors quicker than these go up just one. And then when it gets there it just sits...and sits...and sits an inexorably long time before the doors actually open, the whole process is painful. They should take out one of those crappy elevators and install a ramp that you can wheel your cart down if you so choose, it would save a ton of time. The other issue is that if you park near the elevators to save time, there is no place to drop your cart off, you have to walk a long way to get to one of the little kiosk drop offs. Finally, the staff is just overly nice to the point that its a little creepy to shop there. Im all for smiling, helpful staff at my grocery but I dont need 20 different people asking me if I need help while Im trying to get some Cheerios and coffee, they just need to take it down a few notches and relax a bit...but mostly they need to fix the awful layout/accessibility issues.

I grew up in Florida where weekly shopping trips to Publix were the norm. So, I was thrilled to learn that Publix was opening a store in Winston-Salem. And, the new store does not disappoint! The selection is amazing, the associates are so, so friendly and, if you shop the sales, the prices are competitive. The store itself is beautiful. I was a little taken aback by the two story, parking garage thing, and skeptical about having to use an elevator with a shopping cart. But, it works....well. There are ample, huge elevators to make sure that, even on a busy day, no one has to wait long for a lift. And, covered parking means you never have to come out to a hot car on a summer day. The perimeter of Publix is what sets it apart. The hot food bar, cafe, deli, bakery, cheese, wine, seafood and butcher counters offer a huge selection fresh and delicious items. But, more than anything, the associates are what make Publix so special. Everyone is so incredibly friendly and helpful. For example, on a recent trip, I realized at the checkout that I had left my wallet at home. Thankfully, they were able to help me check out at Customer Service by just using my debit card # and info. The associates never once got irritated and were actually apologizing for MY inconvenience! Even though its a little out of my way to shop at Publix, its worth it. But, if they wanted to build in Kernersville, that would be cool, too! **A previous reviewer said they thought the associate who brought their cart to the car was waiting for a tip...this is not the case. By having associates bring your cart to your car, not only is it helpful, but it also ensures no carts are left in the parking lot where they can run into other cars. And, they do not accept tips for this service.

I love that you get the sale prices without junking up your wallet with yet another membership card. The spaces in the parking lot are nice and wide. I dont worry about getting my doors dinged here or being pinned in and not being able to get the door open. Also, I wont have to put off grocery shopping due to rain. The baggers are always willing to help you out to your car, which is extra helpful when you have kids in tow. Publix has a strict no tipping policy so I never feel pressured into paying extra for great service. The store is super clean, well stocked, and always has lots of cashiers. I hate going into the grocery store and being asked to go to the self check out lane. Never a problem here! They have the best selection of foods (organic, GF, intl cuisine, ect.) & will order anything you need that they dont currently stock. The best part is they dont require you to buy the whole case or anything ridiculous like that. Every employee is always friendly, helpful, and smiling. It really is a pleasure to shop here! The aisles are nice and wide and everything is laid out well. The lights in the freezer cases light up as you approach and automatically dim when nobody is nearby. Produce and meats are the best quality unless you have your own farm. Customer service is consistently first class. I am so glad there is finally a Publix in the Triad!

This place is nothing short of AMAZING! I had the best shopping experience of my life. I was absolutely blown away. I made a smart comment to myself walking in saying, "if they want to impress me, let me see a sushi chef" (I eat sushi religiously) as soon as I get on level 2, boom! There was a chef rolling fresh sushi! I asked him if there where any California Rolls (my favorite), he said, "one moment". Three minutes later, he was handing me some fresh rolls. ALL the employees where pleasant, if they made eye contact theyd say hello. I ordered my daughters birthday cake, paid for it in the bakery, and then continued to shop. When it was time to check out, a mngr put my groceries up on the counter for me, then another guy, named Jeff, pushed my buggy to my car (which was located in an adjacent parking lot, not in the store parking) and put my groceries in my trunk. Then he gave me a coupon for a free gallon of icecream on my next visit. I would have never expected all this! Im going to miss Wal-Mart! Lol

I had the worst experience at this store. I requested cash back and my own oversight forgot to grab the cash or didnt hear the cash come out. I left the store got to the another store went to get my cash and realized it wasnt there...I come back to the store and the manager Ron or something of that nature pretty much cites "maam this isnt my problem. My cameras dont work so if someone took ur money I cant see" and Im not responsible". Are you kidding me. I left calmly but I will be filing a complaint and posting on every social site as a warning....Publix is not the best olave to shop. This was my first and last visit to Publix...customer service is by far the worst for me...I truly can not belive the response of management....wow
