Cool, Classy, and Comfortable Craft Beer, Wine, Sake, Specialty sodas, and Delicious Food create this jewel of a "neighborhood bar". If only just a few words could describe this seemingly nondescript place. Situated directly across from Kilwins Ice Cream, you will notice patio seating laid out in front of a plain building site, but there is nothing plain about the atmosphere created by the owner, Dennis. Walking into Bar Local (pouring since 1999) (lol), you will immediately feel relaxed and want to stay awhile. The dim house lights, punctuated with candle light, the exposed brick walls, bar and booth seating with concrete tables all make for a sophisticated and comfortable place to spend time with friends or even bring a date. Dennis is amicable and offers good suggestions for drinks. If hes not there Keith, Adam, and beautiful Alexa will take care of you. You wouldnt expect it, but this little place redefines "bar food" by putting out some delicious plates of non-typical fare like jerk chicken tacos, turkey Cuban sandwiches, stuffed poblano peppers, roasted red pepper hummus, panini sandwiches, pasta, salads, and cheese plates. Vegans and vegetarians and meat lovers will all find something to eat here. There is always a local artist playing to round out your evening. With a painting class on Tuesdays, Yoga and Open Mic on Thursdays, theres a reason Bar Local was voted best bar in Wilmington this year. Support this amazing local hub. Beer and outdoor music was awesome, but the owner/manager made this young couple leave their empty side walk space (as well as an empty bar) because they werent patrons of the establishment. Just ruined the atmosphere of the bar for us. Not what you would of expect from a bar owner with no patrons...Southern hospitality wont be found here...wont be returning after witnessing this.

Top notch bartender, relaxed atmosphere, always something different going on, big into supporting the local artists (whether music, paint, or anything in between), paint lessons on wednesdays, open mic on thursdays, awesome craft and import beer selection, wine out the wazoo, good is on point.... only drawback is they arent open 24/7. Come on down!

Really neat little place, the atmosphere is cozy and the drinks where great! The prices for cocktails werent insane either which was very surprising. We didnt have anything to eat but all the food that was coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled wonderful!.

Absolutely love the food at Bar Local, it is divine. Great plates for a great price! Bar Local has a great selection of craft beer and wine, they offer painting, yoga, and a few other activities each week along with live music.

My boyfriend and I went here the other night. They had a special Mahi mahi tostada that was one of the best things weve ever had! They had a really delicious stout on draught as well. We will definitely be coming back!

Great people, live music, good beer selection. Try the Full Steam Cackalacky. They also have Vinyasa and Vino on Thursdays! Yoga flow on the riverfront followed by a glass of wine!

Amazing. If youre not in the mood for beer or wine ask the bar tender to whip up one of his special mixed sake drink. I had one with Pacific Sunset. Absolutely amazing!
