It was busy when we went. Our waitress didnt greet us. The salmon roe tasted awful. I love sushi. Salmon roe is my favorite thing to order at any Japanese restaurant. It was warm and had an old taste to it. My sushi, a basic tuna roll, was also warm and didnt taste right. The waitress never refilled our water. One waitress stuck her hand, without a glove, into the ginger and put it on a guests plate. Gross! I wanted to go because the reviews on the walls and board said it was voted one of the top places to eat sushi in Asheville. I wish I wouldve walked up the street. The waitress said shed get the manager to speak to us. The manager never came but they did take off the ikura (salmon roe). I will never go back there if I move here. Horrible service, horrible food. :(

Went for dinner on Sunday evening. Was seated quickly but thats where it stopped. We were seated outside and given no menus when seated. My fiance had time to wash her hands and come back to the table and not one of the two waitresses that came out even acknowledged us. We waited about 10 minutes and watched them bring dessert to the table 12" away from us and not even an "Ill be right with you." One waitress even cleared an empty table without even looking over at us. As we got up to leave one waitress helping another table that had been there and gotten their food asked us to wait shell be with us shortly. There are too many options in the town to have to wait so long for food menus and drink orders.

The quality of sushi and service at Wasabi has fallen off significantly. 3 years ago, everything was outstanding. Now, it seems like they are content to rest on their laurels, having been voted the best sushi in town for so many years. My meal today was awful. The tuna tasted very fishy, and the white tuna had obviously been thawed very recently, since some of the interior pieces were still crunchy with ice. I strongly recommend going somewhere else for your meal. If you absolutely have to have sushi, Haiwea is usually ok. The servers there are rude, but at least your fish wont be frozen.

Best sushi eatery in Asheville. I love sitting at the sushi bar; at dinnertime, you will receive a free appetizer of crab salad and/or seaweed salad - along with getting to see all the beautiful sushi the staff is making! The sushi itself is made with high-quality ingredients. My favorite item is the simple but elegant salmon sashimi. The Godzilla roll is my favorite of the Chefs Special rolls. It is a large spicy tuna roll, deep fried, and covered in spicy mayonnaise, eel sauce, tobiko, and scallions. I highly recommend it.

We had a great experience at Wasabi. The sushi was excellent. We got several rolls, the tempura appetizer and fried rice. Delicious coconut sake but my favorite was the fresh ginger, lemon and honey tea. Strips of fresh ginger filled a whole mug with squeezed lemon and honey with hot water poured over it. Impressive to look at and very tasty. The food came quickly and our waitress was very sweet and attentive. We will definitely be going back. Good atmosphere too with semi outdoor seating and chef bar seating available too.

Dont waste your money! This was the worse food ever! Our food was cold, the waitress did not answer our very specific question, and when we complained to the owner he basically called us liars. He said that their food was "quality and no one ever complains." That was completely uncalled for. They wouldnt fix our food nor give us any compensation for it. It was the worst customer service. Basically dont waste your money!

Ive been coming here for years and have always been happy with not only the sushi, but also the service. They are especially accommodating to special celebrations - I have had a birthday party, a graduation party, an anniversary (which started somewhere else, actually, but we couldnt resist the sudden urge for spicy tuna rolls and plum wine), and more. Overall my favorite Asheville sushi place.

I give the sushi a 8.5 or 9 on a scale of 1 - 10 (high praise), but what really blew my mind was the service. We ambushed this restaurant with a group of over 20, and they handled the sudden influx of (admittedly rowdy) consumers with ease and alacrity. Whether you have a large group of inebriated revelers, or are just a couple looking for excellent sushi, I highly recommend Wasabi!

Worse food ever Sushi needs a lot of help!! Wife’s had basic chicken & steak teriyaki and it was straight out of freezer. Neither ate what they was severed and was still charged for the food 120.00 later. Place is a dump they need to get lessons on making sushi for sure! We eat it weekly and this is by far the worse we have had. Staff was great but food is horrible!!!!!

Best sushi Ive had in a long time. I dont know why there were complaints about wait staff because we had a waitress who was new but still was excellent. The prices for the sushi and really everything on the menu are awesome and the quality of the sushi was second to none. 5 stars easily. I see why they got the "best sushi in town" award. Awesome saki selection as well.

The sushi was well portioned and above average. Skip the apps, they were way over priced and just OK. Our waitress was very good at first, but was not eager to check on our table once the food arrived. The decor is a bit worn out and could have used a good scrubbing. We expected better from the reviews and the high recommendation from our hotel.

One of THE BEST Japanese sushi bars Ive been to!! The employees are so nice, service is AWESOME and omg the food. If you are a sushi fanatic ( I am) or havent ever tried it before, let your first experience be a great one and TRY THIS PLACE!! Not all sushi is raw, I dont eat raw anything, so dont let that deter you!!!!

Terrible experience I left 2 hours ago with some friends for my birthday. The sushi was warm and some pieces a bit slimey. We spent way too much to have such a terrible experience, Ive now spent 30 minutes in a bathroom nervous to stand up and my friends have been puking the same.

If youre looking for REAL Japanese food, dont go here. Youll be disappointed. Its a little pricey but considering that its in the downtown area, I guess its reasonable. However, this is NOT A JAPANESE FLAVOR JAPANESE RESTAURANT, its more of a American style Japanese restaurant.

I have try a lot of different sushi place. I love sushi in New York City, not in other place that Ive ever been. But at Wasabi here I found NYC sushi. Its like...they brought NYC to Asheville. The fish are very fresh and their presentation are magnificent.

This is a great Japanese food option in Asheville. The restaurant is very comfortable and the service is very good. Prices are on average. Food is simply one of the best Japanese I ever had. The only problem is that is not so easy to find a place to park.

The dish are exquisitely done. Sushi rolls are yummy especially the yellow fin tuna and the sea urchins. So is the squid sushi rolls. The prices are competitive too. The servers are friendly and professional. Will be back for more definitely!
