This was my first experience at the Tarrytown Pastry Chef and I am basing my "star review" on customer service rather than the quality of the cake purchased. I will start by saying the cake was delicious, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I chose this shop because it was located in Tarrytown, had good reviews for their baking, and they offered "delivery". Our association was having a meeting at a local hospital and we were celebrating the anniversary of the group - I personally visited the bakery and asked if they could deliver a sheet cake! The young lady helping me said the cake had to be a certain size to meet the delivery requirements. She called her boss to verify the size of the cake. The cake was larger and more expensive than what we needed, but since it was a sheet cake and difficult for me to carry into the hospital, I agreed to get the bigger cake. The night before the delivery, I received a phone call saying the cake had to be delivered by 11:00 am because the delivery guy goes home and could not wait until 1:15 pm (the original agreed upon time). After explaining that the meeting would not take place until 2:00 pm and that there was no one at the hospital to be responsible for receiving the cake, the owner would not budge on the time. I had to make arrangements to pick up the cake myself! When I arrived at the bakery, no offer was made to reimburse for the fact that the cake was larger than we needed and more expensive only because they agreed to deliver it. - there was only "I am so sorry, my girls should not have taken an order for delivery that late on a Sunday" (the bakery is open until 5:00pm and it is a local hospital five minutes away) - no offer was made to try to deliver! No matter how good the product is...customer satisfaction goes beyond the ingredients in the cake!

I walked into this place just looking to grab a box of cookies for an office party. Generic order of, "Give me a pound of your finest cookies." At the office party, barely a few minutes passed before the box was devoured. Comments like "Where did you get these cookies!" and "You have to bring this more often". Now I know where to go if I need cookies in a jiff.

Good Napoleon cake, but service has gone downhill since the previous owner sold the business. Cookies were mediocre. If you want a good Napoleon cake, come here. If you want anything else, I recommend going elsewhere.
