I like this place for the tradition it represents to the Syracuse University community and to The Wider Syracuse community that supports the campus. Tracing its beginnings back to 1926, it is clearly an anchor to the Marshall Street business district in the center of the main campus. You can depend on getting a good thin crust pizza either by the pie or slice. They also offer a large variety of all the comfort foods serving the demands of college students and those attending events on campus. But check the times before you plan to go after a game or an event. For some reason they dont arrange their business hours around normal times for when games let out. This is often a disappointment for those who might have travel to far to return to their alma mater with family and friends for a game or other events on campus and wanting to revisit some of their old stomping grounds like The Varsity.

I work on the Hill, so I go to Varsity a fair amount. The food is pretty good, but there is one woman in particular who is just horrible. She works at the grill area and she acts like shes annoyed with you and that you are bothering her when you order something - no matter what you order. She also scream/yells loudly the entire time she is waiting on you. Ive seen her be absolutely horrible to the foreign students and to people who are new to the restaurant. Its a REALLY confusing set up/ordering system, but she barks and yells at people because they get slightly confused. There is NO reason to treat paying customers like this and I cant believe that management permits this kind of abusive behavior.

I just want to say how happy I was with service on Friday night August 19, 2016. My dad was admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery at 8:30 pm. My mom and I had been in the emergency room since 2 pm with nothing to eat. I walked over to Marshall Street and found Varsity. All my mom was saying is that she wanted a turkey sandwich. 15 minutes before closing and your staff took care of her wishes. They even heated up the mac n cheese which was awesome! I will certainly be back as Varsity was my hero that night! Thank you! The food was out of this world great! Keep up the great work.

Varsity has been around on the S.U. hill since time immemorial, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a sub-par place to eat. The seating is mostly cafeteria-style, meaning that you will be forced to sit with strangers while hunched over a backless bench. The employees are not friendly, and are usually gruff. The restaurant does not exude a sense of cleanliness or order, and the food is bland and sloppy. I can’t stand the place.

The most average pizza you will ever have. I swear the pizza at Varsity was designed by a committee. It is certainly edible, but even more certainly forgettable. Go ahead and have a slice, and I dare you to think of anything memorable about it afterwards. There is nothing terrible about it, but nothing great about it either. We used to have better pizza options on the hill, now we unfortunately have just Varsity.

Whenever youre in Syracuse on game day for basketball football across whatever man! The Varsity is the best place out of all the places you could get something to eat on the Syracuse University campus it kicks ass!!! Its a great place to go for the great food great people great service you can even watch the game in the varsity instead of going to the loud house the Carrier Dome

I dont think Ive ever been to a place where the entire staff was so rude. I can promise you that I will never spend my money there again. "Best pizza on campus" ? The pizza is ALRIGHT, Ive definitely had better. They dont even know how to treat a paying customer so how can I expect them to make quality pizza? I wouldnt recommend wasting your time or money there.

The food was good but the cook Gus was outrageously rude and hes like that everytime! When I asked the cashier what was his name her reply was "Oh, the rude one his name is Gus". He really left a negative and Lasting Impression about the iconic varsity Pizza! Dear owner, plz part ways with this guy hes not good for the brand!

Not the best Pizza... but the Reuben is the best Ive ever had, and their sandwiches / wraps / fried foods are very good, and fairly priced. Also Ive heard the weekday breakfast is amazing. Staff are always personable and friendly, Ive been going there for lunch every few weeks for the past 4 years.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE ! Man behind counter got an attitude with me, people making pizzas were eating the food while cooking, and at that they werent wearing gloves! this is literally the worst customer service and i can tell you that I will NEVER spend money there again

Amazing pizza. Ate there Saturday for lunch. My son left his lacrosse stick there and since we live 3 hours away, Jerry mailed it to us. So super kind and a great lesson in thoughtfulness for my son. If that isnt the BEST customer service EVER. Thank you so much Jerry.

Brokenhearted! I went to SU over 30 years ago. One of the things I missed most was the wings and pizza at the Varsity. I relocated here a bit ago and made a beeline for the place. To my chagrin the customer service and food had declined significantly.

This place may hold the title for best Wings on the planet in my opinion, and the pizza is as good as the wings. A Syracuse institution dating back long before I went there, and that was some time ago! And a must for students and returning alum.

Its your typical college hole in the wall place. Food was pretty good, however the service seemed "slow" on multiple levels (use your see deductive skills). If they played more on the bar scene, this place would be 10x more hot

Are you on the campus hill and want a delicious slice of pizza that never disappoints? Varsity! Theres a lot more selection if you have more time but dipping in for a slice and soda to enjoy the SU sports decor is very worth it.

Ate my share of pizza when I was at SU. Now, anytime we are near Syracuse, we try to stop in and have a couple of slices. It was and still is, the best pizza near the university. Plus they now have more than just pizza.

Good pizza but we came in when it was busy and waited an hour for a pizza while the whole time they were still producing slices. We apparently must be a lower class coustomer. Would not recommend this place to a cockroach.

One of the Syracuse icons. Always packed, especially on game day. Food is pretty standard with lots of options. Service takes a bit of time but its worth the wait!

Delicious food. Definitely the hustle and bustle of the whole street. Its always full of customers and great smelling food. Could do with a better order service.
