Let me start off by saying that I began coming to this restaurant when it first opened. I was sad to see McGregors close but excited to see that a new bar had taken over the space. I have come here for drinks and dinner countless times, often with large groups of friends in tow. This all changed, however, as of last night. We arrived at T&M very hungry shortly after a game and it took about an hour for 8 people to receive nothing fancier than sandwiches and finger food. To me that is completely unacceptable for a near empty restaurant. The manager/owner and the waitresses were NOT accommodating and offered nothing more than "sorry " and "we had a large dinner crowd" .. not "thank you for your business," no "lets try to make this right." Instead we were basically told that it is was it is and if we dont like it, dont come back -- by the owner/manager. I have never ever felt so uncomfortable or upset about very poor, slow service at a restaurant .. the owner/manager simply did not care! And to add insult to injury, a snotty waitress (which was not our waitress mind you) decided that it was completely proper to chime in and make rude comments about our table and shake her head at us. I am sorry, but when did the customer stop being right? Your restaurant FAILED us .. and we were made to feel like we were out of line to comment or ask to be righted. I live nearby and will gladly take my bar and dinner money elsewhere since I would never ever eat here again after the snotty and slow service I received .. especially if I am hungry or have limited time to eat -- and I would suggest others do the same. You went from a solid 4 stars to none in my book (I had to give at least one star to post this, but I did not want to).

Rudest Waitress Ever..... Everytime friends & I go there, the pretty blond at night ( she is a beautiful girl, I will give her that) gets a worse & worse attitude. Rude behavior for no reason. Really ??? and you are in the service industry..and probably want to get a nice tip. Not sure why she is so nasty, at 1st I thought she was having a bad night. After a few more visits, it is clear that this is her norm. I didnt catch her name as she never has given it, nor does she seem approachable enough to ask. She really makes you feel unwelcome. She kept us waiting for over 15 minutes, after she sat us, so Ok if you are busy, but dont serve people that you know that came in after us first.Very Rude. We have always still tipped well and treated her nicely and wont leave a bad tip to a server. She clearly needs to find a job where she likes people and isnt so miserable. I wont be going back, even though it is one of the only places to go to eat after work with my friend who is vegan and we like the food and beer. The dude with the hat is good and seems to enjoy his job, sadly we never seem to get him , we always get the rude girl....I have always gone out of my way to be nice but she clearly does not care about her job. If I treated someone that way, I would be fired on the spot......Bad for business....This is the first time I have ever left a negative review , or a review ever, as I dont like to do them, but It needs to be addressed in this case. Really not happy about be made felt unwelcome at a place I used to enjoy going to. Thanks for listening....

I am not from Rochester and this was my first (and probably last) dining experience here. The food and atmosphere were nothing extraordinary (burger buns were stale), but the service was incredibly icy - our large group was seated in the dining area where we ate full meals and ordered drinks. After our meals were finished, we continued to order drinks (therefore continuing to add to our bill) and catch up as it was a reunion of sorts - the servers continually hinted for us to move to the over-crowded bar where there was only standing room - which we did not desire and hence decided to remain seated and continue drinking. Eventually, the staff became incredibly rude, and being uncomfortable, I asked our group to pay and move to the bar area. Once relocated, I approached the waitress that served us to thank her for her patience with our group (we had still given her a decent tip) - to which she brusquely replied "no problem" and shouldered by me coldly and quickly to move into the kitchen. So even after a good tip, and someone honestly thanking them, they remained aloof and cold. Dont expect me to be so generous next time (if there is a next time).

some staff express an ostentatious display of knowledge of beers that is not necessary. There are a few bartenders personalities that need to be toned downed a little too. I like the beer list but the atmosphere is a little too pretentious for me. I would have given it a five if the staffs attitude was a little better. I have been there a few times now and its the same old "look at me, i am different (i listen to The Cure B-sides)". I went there for a beer tasting and a lady (probably a staff member) sitting at the bar told me the tasting was sold out. Not even a minute later, a group of four guys on the other side of me(two sitting at the bar and two standing) were able to get two glasses for the two guys standing up. I know they didnt prepay because one of the guys sitting down asked them (two guys standing) if they wanted a glass and the bartender handed the guy sitting down two glasses. Like i said, staff(and/or management) needs to have a better attitude and get off their high horse. I might give them another chance in a few months.

Tap and Mallet is an experience you will want to try! The atmosphere, food, and service were great. We started with pretzels as an appetizer, the homemade cheese was good, but the Dijon mustard was incredible! The poutine and burger came with immense appreciation and I had the CLT. This is a sandwich unlike anything Ive ever had, roasted coconut flakes that were described by the waitress as bacon flavored. It was amazing, I added cheese curds, opted out of the aioli, and instead more Dijon, it was accompanied by heirloom carrots, which were so delicious! The only thing is it left me hungry before the other people in my group, mainly because its coconut. I think next time I would sub the bacon on the smoked salmon for the coconut for a more satisfying full. So many vegetarian/vegan options! A large craft beer selection with many local taps. Beautiful patio to enjoy our CNY summers!

This place has a massive beer selection and thats the main draw here. But thats a double edged sword. The barrier for entry is quite high financially. They have Genny which is like $3 or $4 per pint but then the next price category is $5 or $6 per pint. This can obviously add up quick. The food was surprisingly really great. I say surprisingly not because I expected it to be bad but because all I had heard about was the beer. we did wings with mallet sauce which is the house signature sauce. The wings were cooked to perfection. I like my wings crispy and these were. The sauce was so good I dabbed my finger in it a couple of times after the wings were gone just to sample it again. This is a fantastic place as long as you know what youre getting into. Id highly recommend giving it a go!
