Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company is an independent coffee and tea shop with a devout local following. Coffees and teas served are frequently fair trade and come from a variety of locales like Uganda and Nicaragua. Which particular brew they have on tap changes day to day but they also have season-long offerings, such as the Maple Mocha or Pumpkin Pie Latte (made with real pumpkin puree) for the cold months, if you prefer to find a favorite and cling to it. Roast staff inspire return visits and the locals/other main street employees can often be found simply chatting with the baristas about local news or how to hone in on your preferred style of drink. This I think is the main appeal. Rather than being processed like at a large production line-style coffee shop where youd best know what you want by the time you reach the front of the line, the Roast staff will talk to you about their offerings and how they best match your tastes. The recently repealed village food-franchise law fostered Roast to maturity by shielding Patchogue Main Street from being overrun by large corporate competitors such as Starbucks. Pricing is similar, but the quality is vastly superior. As a former Starbucks Vanilla Chai drinker, I have found that Roasts drinks, while they may occasionally use syrups, more often get their flavors from better tasting non-syrup sources. For example, the chais typically use a powder or steeped tea leaf rather than a flavor concentrate squirted into milk, making the price much more worth the cost. On a Friday night, or the first Saturday of the month you can find mixed style open mic nights where anything from instrumentalists and vocalists to poets and comedians will come to flex their artistic muscle in the packed house and supportive environment. Most of these special event nights have a small cover which will be fully credited to your first purchase, just to deter non-patrons from occupying precious space. A must see and a relaxing reprieve from the bar scene that is normally the focus of people pouring into the village for their weekend visit.

I wanted to sit on my computer on a couch in a nice environment, and that is what I found here! However, this place could be cleaner. I have spotted at least 3 flies clearly drawn to the table near the couches because the table has not been cleaned in a while. Also, I ordered a pot of loose tea. The water (tea) from the pot had leaked onto the platter, and that is how it was served to me. Not to mention I heard the waitress say it had leaked, and she didnt bother to replace it. I finished the tea a while ago and it is still sitting on the table.. keeping the flies around.. Lastly, if you are looking for quiet, I would not recommend here just because there is a massive coffee roaster in the middle of the cafe.

Good coffee @ reasonable prices. You can roast you own coffee too. Friendly folks and clean place. Music selection is good but they need to keep the music down sometimes-its either the track or the folks at counter just get excited. Great place to just chill and get some work done with free wifi. Quiet during daytime w/good evening vibe. They do need to get a better selection of food items in there. Yah, Organic is good but I think they went overboard with $7 sustainable chocolate cubes. Reasonably priced high quality snacks would be a welcome :)

Roast was a real surprise find for me, I was not expecting to find such a great little coffeehouse on Main St in the middle of Patchogue. To my surprise Roast is a hip and classy coffee house with a great mellow atmosphere, which is just what Patchogue needed. The staff were all nice, and very knowledgeable and the coffee was just superb. I was really blown away by the selection and quality of the coffee and the reasonable prices. Overall Roast is just a great little secret that Im glad I know about. I highly recommend.

Great coffee shop! Dont get the banks hours confused with Roasts hours. Roast is open til 10 pm or later. But because they share a main entrance with bridgehampton bank alot of people see the bank hours on the door and assume its Roasts hours! Great staff, awesome coffee and a chill vibe. Blows away Starbucks and your money doesnt go to a multinational corporation, instead it goes to local business owners who care about providing a great cup o joe! So just go!

Full disclosure-- I am a coffee nut. I like coffee. I was very excited to find a coffee roaster in an unexpected location. I walked in. Saw a big roasting machine right in the middle of a very nicely decorated room, very cool music, nice bar. I ordered a cup of drip coffee. It was bitter, like it had been sitting in the thermos for days, or like the pot it had been brewed in needed a cleaning. Close, but no cigar. Color me disappointed.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank the barista who helped me this morning -- he recommended a Christmassy drink with less sugar when I told him I dont normally take sugar in my coffee, and it was excellent. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and personable and I felt very welcome without being grovelled to (*cough*Starbucks*cough*). Keep up the good work!

Roast is amazing the coffee, sandwhiches, desserts, and other snacks are always great. The people who work there are always friendly and nice. Most of the times they play singer/songwriter styled music which helps create the cafe kind of vibe. Roast has this mello and relaxed atmosphere that makes you never want to leave and keeps you coming back for more.

Im strictly a black coffee kind of guy, except when Im here. They have every kind of coffee I never usually drink, and it is great. The ambiance is very nice, and the crew behind the counter are always very nice. When youre in Patchogue and feel like a good cup of coffee, this is a great choice.

Fairly good coffee, pastries are okay, very much a nice place to hang with the boardgames and books available, and the staff is pleasant and lgbt+ friendly, overall nice but you can get better coffee elsewhere for the same price. Their coffee isnt bad though, its just not the only option.

This is such a quaint and authentic looking coffee shop. I love that its a local place and not one of your big named places that can be rude or disingenuous. The vibe is laid back and i overheard that they have open mike on some nights. Ill be sure to come back and listen!

A great independent coffee shop and roaster in downtown Patchogue. Prices are comparable to Starbucks. A plus, for me at least, is that they dont seem to play piped music, at least during the day, so its very relaxing and easy to concentrate if youre reading or working.

I searched up to see where I can I go find the nearest coffee shop. Most of them were Starbucks or Dunkin donuts, but I wanted a place that made fresh brewed coffee and a place to relax, when I heard about this place I had to go see it and I wasnt disappointed

I love this place. Theres always something new that they offer. The staff is knowledgeable and always answer all of my questions. Ask your barista what he/she is drinking that day. Youll always get something new that you never would have thought of.
