Edit: Was here last week, and it is still as good as it was 3 years ago. Authentic Mexican food. In a friendly environment. Original post: I crown thee, tied for best Mexican Food in Orange County. It is very good, as good as Juarez Restaurant in Newburgh. Searching for "Authentic Mexican" the family had grown tired of the cookie cutter local Mexican restaurants Bandido, Hacienda, Azteca, they all have the same menus! Albeit with slight variations in flavor. Tapatio is a fantastic taqueria, you can drink horchata, or agua de jamaica. You order a Chicken Chimi, and it is stuffed with chicken, no fillers, like rice and beans. Reminds me of Mexican you get in California!!! Will definitely return to try other menu items...

Dont judge the food by the looks of the building. Worn out building housing Indian, Chinese and this Mexican fare restaurant disguises the really good food inside. We really enjoy food that doesnt have a institutional bent to it and were glad that we stopped here. I had the chimichanga platter and my gf had the poblano stuffed with cheese (no meat, thats the way). The rice was great and the refried beans were weak and too small a portion...but all in all Id give the owner (served us) and the food a 4 out of five. Old Mexican westerns played in Spanish with a Latino juke box nearby. A lot of Latino locals were there..another great sign. We have to go back again for the in-house flan.

Since moving out from California Ive been looking for a place to get my burrito on. El Tapatio is it! I ordered a carnitas burrito with sour cream and guacamole. While I waited I enjoyed the complimentary homemade chips and dip. When it arrived I was happy to see the giant helping of guacamole and sour cream on the burrito. Good stuff! The burrito was packed full of delicious pork, they definitely didnt skimp on the meat! I left fat and happy. The price was very reasonable since it included the rice and beans on the side. The restaurant is clean, the owner friendly, and I look forward to making El Tapatio a regular stop when Im in Middletown.

I am not sure where these other customers eat their mexican food. I love mexican food. I have to say, this is the worst mexican food i have eaten in the hudsain valley. i order flautas, that were not on the menu. they were fried enchiladas without tomatillo sauce. we ordered nachos, it should have been called cheese with chips no sauce. i would never eat there again. apparently others are saying its the best food they had. i just wonder if they ever ate real mexican food. sorry.

Staff was friendly. Food was okay. Ambiance was terrible. The restaurant is ugly outside and in. The booths offer no privacy at all. The food was okay. Some of it was fresh, some of it was straight from a can. The deluxe nachos were pretty tasty, but not great. We got a cheese quesadilla which was also okay. The chips they serve are flavorless, but Ive had worse. The salse they served was nothing great, but again, Ive had worse. This place is very okay.

Every Friday night was Pork Burrito night!! Served with rice and beans! Delicious salsa! A treat, for the end of the work week! The restaurant itself, is nothing fancy, but, who cares! The food is good, the staff is friendly, and we are there for the food!! Try it, youll like it!
